Hands-on with the DART-C - the world's smallest laptop charger

The World's Smallest Laptop Charger: A Review of the Dart See

As we take a closer look at the Dart See, it becomes clear that what makes this charger special is its form factor. It is extremely tiny, thin, and small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. In fact, labeling company Six as the smallest laptop charger available in the world may be an understatement, as it has never seen a laptop charger pack such power in such a compact design. The Dart See measures 3 cubic inches, with a total volume that is significantly smaller than its competitors.

To put this into perspective, we have the Dart See's USB-C enabled charging cable next to our trusty old 2016 MacBook Pro charger. The size difference between the two chargers is quite noticeable, and it highlights just how small and compact the Dart See truly is. With a power output of up to 65 watts, the Dart See provides plenty of power for your laptop, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a portable charging solution.

One of the standout features of the Dart See is its ability to charge not only laptops but also other USB-enabled devices such as iPhones and Android phones. This is made possible by an embedded USB-A connector on one end of the cord, which can provide around 10 watts of power. This feature is particularly useful for those who want to be able to charge their phone while keeping their laptop charged simultaneously.

The Dart See also comes with a travel pouch and power cable, making it easy to take on the go. When plugging in the charger to the power outlet, you'll notice that there are two different connectors: one USB-C connector for charging your MacBook Pro, and another proprietary connector for connecting the Dart C to your laptop. This can be a bit confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it's actually quite convenient.

Unfortunately, one feature of the Dart See is not exactly ideal: its always-on LED indicator. While this may seem like a nice touch, it doesn't really provide any useful information about the charger's status or whether your laptop is charging properly. This feature can be a bit frustrating for some users, but it's worth noting that it's not a deal-breaker.

In terms of pricing, the Dart See may seem a bit steep at $99. However, when you factor in the cost of the USBC cable and compare it to the price of the stock charger, it becomes more reasonable. The Dart See is a great option for 13-inch MacBook Pro owners who want a portable charging solution that can replace their stock charger. While it may not be suitable for those with larger laptops, the Dart See's compact design and versatility make it an excellent choice for anyone looking for a reliable and convenient charger.

Overall, the Dart See is an impressive achievement in terms of miniaturization and power output. Its ability to charge not only laptops but also other USB-enabled devices makes it an incredibly versatile option for those on the go. While there may be some minor drawbacks, such as the lack of useful information from the LED indicator, these do not detract from the overall value and convenience that the Dart See provides.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhands-on with what is being billed as the world's smallest laptop charger how's it going ladies and gentlemen this is Jeff Benjamin with nine-to-five Mac we are looking at the dart see this is a USBC enabled laptop charger so that means it can charge laptops like the 12-inch MacBook the 2016 MacBook Pro and even some Windows machines and Chromebooks with USB see now you may be wondering to yourself what is it that makes this charger special well really it's the form factor it is extremely tiny in fact thin six is labeling it as the smallest laptop charger available in the world now whether or not that actually is true I don't know for sure I haven't checked out all the laptop charges available but it is very small as you can see it fits in the palm of my hand and actually can hide in my palm and I can tell you for sure that I have never seen a laptop charger that packs this much power in this form factor it's able to output up to 65 watts of power with a total volume of only 3 cubic inches and you can see how it compares to my 2016 MacBook Pro charger this is a 61 watt charger next to the fence fixed artsy so the size difference is very noticeable and like I said the dart see 65 watts the MacBook Pro charger 61 watts and the dart C comes with a travel pouch and it also obviously comes with a power cable now here's where things get a little interesting the power table actually has an embedded USB type a connection for charging things like your iPhone or other USB enabled devices on one end of the cord there is a USB type-c connection to connect to your macbook pro and on the opposite end there is a proprietary connector that goes to the dart C so that's where things get a little weird you're going to have to use pin sixes own proprietary cable you can't just use some off-the-shelf USB C power cable so let's go ahead and plug in the dart C to the power outlet just like that and plug in the USB C connector to the MacBook Pro and let's head over to system information and check to see if it's actually charging so yep it is connected 65 watts and it is charging now one thing I will say about discharges that I don't particularly care for is the fact that there is an always only LED indicator and this is just own regardless of whether or not it's connected to your MacBook Pro or not it doesn't really tell you anything it's just shining brightly I wouldn't mind it as much if it actually told you something useful like whether or not your MacBook Pro is charging but it's just a small annoyance so we have the USB a connector which can provide about 10 watts of power so it's going to be able to power your iPhone or similar devices and that's very handy to have right there built into the cable so you can see my iPhone is being charged right now along with my macbook pro and that's really cool and very convenient if you're a 13 inch MacBook Pro owner this can outright replace your stock charger but if you're a 15 inch macbook pro owner this is not going to charge as fast as the stock charger that comes with the 15-inch MacBook Pro so keep that in mind the dart C costs 99 bucks which seems expensive but once you add the USBC cable in with the stock macbook charger they're roughly the same price you can pre-order the dart C right now I think this makes a good secondary or travel charger for 13-inch MacBook Pro owners and even something that maybe 15-inch MacBook Pro owners might consider ladies and gentlemen let me know what you guys think down below in the comments section this is Jeff
