First Time Drifting Downtown Long Beach (Media Day)

Driving the Long Beach Track: A Bucket List Experience

It was so cool but being here everything looks completely different in person like I never realized this was slightly uphill the track seems like 5 million times bigger than I would have expected it doesn't make sense but I'm hoping once I'm in the car it'll make more sense. It just looks like there's no way you can link this corner, it's a straight um hmmm wow that was freaking cool. It's been a bucket list thing I said to drive this track forever. It is very weird not having any reference points thankfully uh dean kearney told me to enter on the crosswalk and that helped a lot but we don't have any 321 cones we don't have any markers for zones so on a track like this where you're already blind it's really really difficult but I'm happy I just played it safe. I got a good feel for the track now I kind of understand a little better but it's just so cool. I don't know if Mike already put in the video when you're going on a track you're like going down what feels like you're going around like an industrial building through a downtown area down this hill um the burnout box is kind of tiny so I don't want to go into the wall in the burnout box. I almost did that once but super cool.

We're going to ride the bmx spikes, go get tacos now John, let's see that bunny hop, let's get it yo not bad now look at Mike, not on an old black light hello what's up brother uh so um um wow hmm um all right so we are here at Long Beach there's a nice beach out there so anyways uh there's a fish tank right there fishes doesn't seem like they're moving a lot or if any but homeboy was doing pretty good I feel like I think he feels pretty comfortable will you say you feel comfortable yeah I do yeah yeah he feels comfy enough but enough to put the back end of the car on the wall now he found the wall so now he could go out there and put some solid runs down. We're about to go back, he did hit this quota for today on the taillight so we're not gonna put another tail light on uh and Adam's going to take over there you go I'm pumped in the bumper state in one piece I knew I would inevitably go into the wall at some point and it was like pretty much as soft as it possibly could have been as a hit. It was weird because a car didn't feel like I had much grip I'll uh I'll reason it out to either I came in a little bit hot that time because I was trying to impress the girl in the passenger seat now honestly it was probably that where I did a really really weak burnout so there was not a lot of heat in the tires so I did what do you think you got a saucy ride that was like yeah he was late literally always lit yeah dude super lit bro.

We air the tires down so much and like we're gonna tweak this out a little bit every time I got back on throttle the car was just doing I was looking at Sean, we were both like it felt like we had hydraulics and we were like cruising in like the 67 Chevelle just like room mm-hmm um hmm hmm oh me that was sick this track I know I said like eight times as a bucket list for me it is so freaking cool it is so neat that Long Beach lets us do this um I also love the fact that I was able to get like nine extra practice laps because of this day on a track like this it's gonna be key because we don't really get a lot of practice in FD also massive thank you to Nitto for giving us tires to use for the media day because it's a lot of tires, a lot of extra tires that aren't typically accounted for so I'm pumped. I feel very comfortable with the track there's a few little setup changes that I want to make but what's awesome is now we can start the official practice with those changes rather than just kind of figuring it out then I figured it out and it's freaking rad I think it was it might have actually been my last my last lap felt really really good.

The Aftermath: A Fun Day with Friends

The gang's all gonna ride bikes, we're gonna go back to our Airbnb and then probably hang out and do LA things and tomorrow we got an open day and then Thursday setup day and it's just a great way to stay in shape. There's a guy staring at me I think he's a fan of Garza I wish it was Garza look at him what do you mean over there? Just happened to be going by a skate park on the way back this is my kind of hefty, I wish everyone was like this so fun just cruising with the homies. Out of breathe when you say

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: endo there's a right there it's funny welcome to today's video guys we are in beautiful california stoked to not be sweating my you know off it's beautiful here uh this is track long beach is probably one that i've looked forward to driving more than any track ever it's actually like on the streets of long beach it's not just some oval track which i'm not a fan of and uh it's hairy but today's media day so we get to do some practice laps and give ride-alongs and for me that's just extra seat time so i'm pumped rolling does your boss constantly crash the car you're responsible for get some griot's track spray you spray it on you let it sit and you wipe it right off it's a great thing it makes my job easy and it keeps him on track since this is just a media day and we're not actually formally setting up until thursday this is kind of like a temporary pit space so you can see all our bikes that we got here laying around rip around long beach and uh yeah at a driver's meeting i'm gonna go do some test laps everyone has warned me to take it chill on media day the walls are very unforgiving here but i'm just pumped so because we're sharing the track with another race they're not putting out any cones or markers for zones or anything for today so i'm a little bit nervous since the track is extremely confusing and pretty much blind every corner i'm just going to take it easy and try to get a feel for the rhythm of the track so cool though being like downtown and it's neat apparently because this is like technically a parking lot in some areas there's lots of like oil stains and i guess multiple different surface changes so it's very dynamic and kind of tricky to master i've seen plenty of videos from this place i think it's probably one of the only fd rounds i used to watch just because it was so cool but being here everything looks completely different in person like i never realized this was slightly uphill the track seems like 5 million times bigger than i would have expected it doesn't make sense but i'm hoping once i'm in the car it'll make more sense it just looks like there's no way you can link this corner
