Huawei P9 vs LG G5 DUAL Camera Test Comparison

The Epic Super-Safe Style Camera Comparison: LG G5 vs Huawei P9

In this article, we will delve into the world of camera comparisons and pit two stylish devices against each other - the LG G5 and the Huawei P9. Both phones boast impressive cameras that promise to deliver high-quality images, but which one reigns supreme? Let's take a closer look at each device and their respective cameras.

The Wide-Angle Sensor: A Game-Changer

One of the standout features of both devices is their wide-angle sensors. The LG G5's 8-megapixel sensor allows for more expansive shots, capturing more of the scene in front of you. This feature is particularly useful when taking landscape shots or group photos. On the other hand, the Huawei P9's 20-megapixel sensor may not be as wide, but it makes up for it with its excellent low-light performance.

The Macro Shot: A Close-Up Look

Moving on to a macro shot of some flowers, both devices showcase their respective cameras' capabilities. The LG G5's camera captures the intricate details of the flowers, while the Huawei P9's camera also delivers impressive results. However, the LG G5's depth effect feature blurs out the background, creating a shallow focus that adds to the overall aesthetic.

The Depth Effect: Artistic or Artificial?

When it comes to depth effects, both devices have their strengths and weaknesses. The LG G5's software does an excellent job of creating a bokeh effect, but some may find it slightly artificial. On the other hand, the Huawei P9's depth effect is more subtle, but still effective in creating a sense of separation between the subject and the background.

Low-Light Images: A Battle for Supremacy

When it comes to low-light images, both devices face off against each other. The LG G5's camera, with its wider aperture and optical image stabilization, performs better in low-light conditions. The Huawei P9's camera, on the other hand, struggles to produce the same level of quality, despite its do cameras working together.

Outdoor Images: A Showdown

In outdoor images, both devices perform well, but the LG G5 takes a slight lead due to its wider aperture and optical image stabilization. However, it's worth noting that both cameras can struggle with noise in bright lighting conditions.

The Front-Facing Camera: A Battle for Supremacy

When it comes to front-facing cameras, the Huawei P9 takes the edge due to its better dynamic range and low-light performance. The LG G5's camera is a close second, but falls short when it comes to color accuracy and wide-angle shots.

Front-Facing Video: A Close Match

In terms of front-facing video, both devices perform well, but the Huawei P9's colors are slightly more accurate. However, the LG G5's wide-angle lens offers an advantage for landscapes and group shots.

Rear-Facing Camera: The Winner Takes All

When it comes to rear-facing cameras, the LG G5 takes a clear lead due to its 8-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization, as well as its laser autofocus feature. The Huawei P9's camera is close behind, but falls short when it comes to dynamic range and low-light performance.

The Verdict: LG G5 Takes the Crown

After putting both devices through their paces, we can conclude that the LG G5 takes the crown for this epic camera comparison. Its dual camera setup, including a primary camera and wide-angle lens, delivers exceptional results in a variety of lighting conditions. While the Huawei P9 has its strengths, particularly when it comes to front-facing cameras, the LG G5's overall performance makes it the winner in our books.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat we do suffer on super-safe TV and welcome to another epic super staff style camera comparison and this was pretty unique because it's between the Huawei p9 and the LG g5 now what's unique about both of these devices is that they have dual cameras dual rear facing cameras so this will hopefully help you decide which dual facing camera setup is better for you so in the usual style we'll be looking at both the front and rear facing cameras and looking at images as well as video 2 to also look out for the audio icon in the corner of the screen and that will indicate to you which device the audio is coming from and I'll be switching between these two to give you guys a better idea of the differences in audio as well so we're currently using the front-facing cameras on both devices we've got plenty of light coming in from outside my car will be heading outside doing some rear facing camera tests and then we'll also do some low-light indoor tests as well as outdoor tests so do hit that thumbs up button now let's get straight to it so now we're outdoors with both devices it's a beautiful day here in Leicester and this is the sort of quality difference I can expect one thing to bear in mind is that the Huawei p9 can only film 1080p on the LG g5 you can't film up to 4k so this doesn't mean that we can crop it much further on this 1080p export and you have so much more resolution to play with so now just test our stabilization on both devices it's going to be taking a bit of a walk you've got digital stabilization on the p9 you've got optical image stabilization on the g5 so now we're indoors with the LG g5 just testing out the autofocus and it seems to be doing pretty well our same lighting with the Huawei p9 seems to be doing okay I think it is slightly struggling to get that close focus on this time Neath the skull so that was the video now before we move on to some images let's just go over the specs so you know what we're working with we've got 8 megapixels on both the front facing cameras although the g5 does have a wider aperture now for the rear facing cameras this is where it gets very interesting because we've got dual cameras here on both but very unique setups here so for the LG g5 you have a primary 16 megapixel camera with oh is and then you have a secondary 8 megapixel camera which has a super wide angle lens now with the Huawei p9 you have a 2 12 megapixel cameras although one is an RGB sensor and the other one is a monochrome sensor and these work together to give you a single image and also some depth effects after the fact which will also be having a look at now all the shots that you'll be seeing in this test have been taken on automatic settings so I've not tweak anything to keep things as fair as possible and if you want to customize the look of your LG g5 or huawei p9 then definitely go ahead and check out our sponsor for this episode which is the brand deep run have a huge selection of quality skins which you can use to get a unique look for your devices I'll be leaving a link to them in the description below so definitely do go ahead and check them out so starting off with some selfies you can see that the g5 flips the selfie here which you can switch off but I just kept it all on default I think both are doing a great job here you've got lots of detail but the LG g5 does have better dynamic range if you look at the background the huawei p9 is blowing out those highlights whereas the LG g5 is definitely maintaining those better going in 100% the LG g5 does look a tad sharper the p9 looks slightly softer you might like that personally I like to have a better detail and you can always use the beauty mode if you want to soften your image now moving on to a low-light selfie so this is under room lighting the g5 once again doing a better job here you've got a better detail the p9 is definitely looking quite soft there looks like some software processing happening I think the wider aperture of the g5 is definitely helping here you can further see this one we go in 100% now moving on outdoors so a wide-angle shot here the LG g5 does have better dynamic range now this is because it does have HDR switched on this was on automatic with the Huawei p9 you actually have to manually switch on HDR it doesn't seem like there's an automatic option for HDR so just to kind of make things faster we can compare I did a switch on HDR for the p9 just to see how much of a difference it makes and I still do think the g5 has a better dynamic range now this is a perfect situation to use that wide-angle camera on the g5 and if we switch over to that you can see that we've got so much more in that shot and free landscapes this is going to be absolutely awesome now you do lose a little bit of dynamic range on the wide-angle sensor and this is a secondary sensor so I think that would be expected you can see we've lost some of those highlights in the clouds but that wide-angle sensor does allow you to get so much more in your shot and that's definitely a nice touch now moving on to a bit of a macro shot here of some flowers I think both are doing great you've got some nice colors slight differences in colors but lots of detail now this is a good situation where you can use that depth effect on the yp9 and this will blur out the background a little bit and here you can see that it's doing a really nice job you can see a bit of bouquet in the background which does look quite nice now this can look a little artificial one we go in 100% and you can see that we've got a little bit of blurring towards the edges so if you do zoom into your images if you're using this effect then that is gonna have some of this blurring but if you look at everything else on that picture then detail is very nice on both images now moving on to some low-light shots so here you can see the g5 is definitely producing a brighter image you've got lots of noise on the Huawei p9 image let's go in 100% and you can further see that the g5 is definitely better because of that wider aperture on the optical image stabilization and the do cameras which is supposed to work together to give you better low-light images I don't think work as well maybe a software up they can improve this but from the test that I've done in low-light the huawei p9 doesn't seem to do too well this is further illustrated when we go outdoors so you can see that the tree is much brighter here on the LG g5 and you can also see a little bit more detail in the background both images are noisy because a high ISO has been used on both here but the LG g5 does seem to be producing a cleaner image and I think that does once again come down to the optical image stabilization now finally looking at an image with a flash I think both are doing okay here I think the color was just in between so I'm going to call this one a bit of a draw so there we have it the epic super-safe style camera comparison between the LG g5 and the huawei p9 now for the front-facing camera I would have to give the winner to the g5 with better dynamic range and a better low-light performance because of that wider aperture and for the front-facing video I like the colors a little bit better on the Huawei p9 but the g5 did record a little bit more wide angle and it did seem to once again have better dynamic range now moving on to the rear facing cameras the video the p9 wasn't bad at all but the g5 that definitely gets the edge because of the 4k recording with optical image stabilization and I also thought the laser to focus what a better compared to the hybrid autofocus on the Huawei p9 and outdoor images both work great LG g5 once again didn't have better dynamic range and that wide angle is great for landscapes and if you are somebody who likes taking landscape shots I know you are going to love that wide-angle lens on the LG g5 the p9 does have quite a nice depth effect which will allow you to refocus after the fact and also create that bleb and although this can look nice in certain situations it can look a little bit artificial sometimes so do bear that in mind now for low-light images the g5 did get the win with the wider aperture and the optical image stabilization giving you some more cleaner images and this did seem to work better than the do cameras working together on the wall a p9 for audio I'm gonna let you go back and have a listen to me personally I did find the LG g5 a little bit better especially indoors there was less background noise so to conclude I think the overall went for me personally would have to go to the g5 I like that dual camera setup a little bit better with the primary camera as well as the wide-angle camera and with the p9 although this is an interesting concept I think further work does have to be done maybe to the software to fully utilize those two cameras and make them work together especially for low-light that's where I think anyway what do you think do drop me a comment below and let me know your thoughts if you want to see images from lots of different devices then make sure you do go ahead and give
