Adding a Virtual Button to iOS 7 using a Jailbreak Tweak

If you're reading this, chances are you've jailbroken your device because you want to try out some advanced tweaks and features that aren't available on non-jailbroken devices. One such feature is adding a virtual button to iOS 7 using a jailbreak tweak. To start with, please note that if you haven't already, you need to be jailbroken for this procedure. If you're not familiar with the process of jailbreaking, click on the link below to be taken to our jailbreaking page and follow the steps for your device.

Once you've completed the jailbreaking process and have Cydia installed on your device, you can come back to this guide to continue with adding a virtual button. The first step is to open Cydia and then tap search in the bottom right corner of the screen. Look for SP touch and tap on that when it appears. Tap install, confirm, and then restart springboard when it asks. Wait for your device to reboot, and you'll notice a weird little icon now um on the screen. You can move this icon by tapping on it and dragging it around.

You can also tap once to bring you to your screen, and double-tap will actually open up your apps, just like the normal home button works. Holding down on the virtual button will lock your device. There are also options if you go to settings and then tap on SP touch. You can hide it when it's on the lock screen, change its size, transparency, color, and initial position when it first opens.

You can adjust these settings according to your preference so that the virtual button is not always visible on the screen except in certain situations or you can even assign it to an activator action. This feature is particularly useful if your home button happens to be broken, if you have certain disabilities, or if you simply feel like having a soft home button on your screen at all times.
