The Next Major Update of Windows: The Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update

We are excited to share with you the next major update of Windows, known as the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update. This update brings several exciting new features and improvements that will enhance your computing experience.

One of the most significant additions is a new way to transform your photos and videos, called Windows Story Remix. This feature allows you to create engaging and interactive stories using your favorite photos and videos. The video that I have here has already been created by Story Remix, and it showcases the collaborative effort between multiple people who were at an event.

What's particularly interesting about this video is that the footage was captured collaboratively by all the parents who were at the game. This highlights the capabilities of Windows Story Remix in bringing people together and creating shared experiences. With Story Remix, you can add text, music, and even pen and ink support to your videos, making it a powerful tool for self-expression.

One of the standout features of Windows Story Remix is its ability to anchor notes to specific objects or people in the video. This allows you to create interactive and engaging stories that bring your memories to life. For example, I can write a fun note right into the video and anchor it to Gina as she moves down the field and evades this defender.

In addition to Windows Story Remix, we are also excited to announce a new feature called Fluent Design. This system has five elements that we're playing with and evolving, each designed to help developers build more expressive and engaging experiences. One of the key features of Fluent Design is its ability to make navigation more intuitive, allowing people to navigate all of Windows just using a pen.

To illustrate this point, I'm on a Surface Pro, and you can see how easily I can scroll through my files or switch between pages using my pen. This level of interaction and expressiveness opens up new possibilities for developers and users alike.

Another exciting feature that we're introducing is OneDrive Files On-Demand. This feature allows you to access your files on any device without having to download them first, making it easier than ever to work with your files across multiple platforms.

Overall, the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update is a significant step forward for our operating system, and we can't wait to see what users will create with these new features.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI'm excited to share the next major updateof Windows:the Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update.Let me introduce you to a new way to transformyour photos and videos: Windows Story Remix. So here we have a video that Story Remixhas already made for me.And what's really unique about it is the footagewas captured collaboratively by all the parentswho were at that game. We've added pen and ink support to Story Remixand I'm going to show you with this clip.I'm going to write a fun note right into thevideo. You might have seen inking on photos and videosbefore, but this is new.I'm going to anchor this note to Gina.Okay, now check out how the note follows heras she moves down the field and evades thisdefender. Now on this clip, I want to do something reallyspecialto make the ending epic.I'd like to try mixed reality.Let's put the fireball in the project, move it over to the soccer ball, and then I'm going to anchor it to the object.Let's see how this looks. We call this Fluent Design. The Fluent Design system has five elementsthat we're playing with and evolving. And each of these are intended to helpall of us developers build more expressiveand engaging experiences. In fact, we want to make it so that peoplecan navigateall of Windows just using a pen.Now what I want to do is take you throughthis example. So I'm on a Surface Pro,and I've got a pen in my hand and you'll seeone of the waysthat Fluent evolves here is I can now scrollright here by now using the pen.And if I want to go to a new page, I can justclick a link. There we go.Today I'm thrilled to announce OneDrive FilesOn-Demand.And there it is.\"Hello\" is on the desktop. Now in this situation, the desktop is storedin OneDrive Files On-Demand and so syncingis going to happenand this enables great cross-device scenarios. So let me move over here and we'll switchthe screens thereto show how this works across Windows devices. So on-screen you should see on the leftSherry's brand-new SurfaceBook. And she didn't have to do anything and there'san icon right there for \"Hello\" on the desktop.Similarly right next to that you see a Windowsphone. And here on the Windows phone - thank you- I can open the OneDrive experience and insidethere is desktop folderbecause Sherry's content is syncing acrossall her devicesand when I open it up, there is the \"hello\"file on her desktop. So what she experiences is the cloud helpingher get content wherever she wants to go.But of course OneDrive is available on iOSand Android as well. We're announcing today Windows Timeline, theeasiest way to get back to whatever you wereworking on.So let's think of Sherry again at work onher Surface Studio, she's running some Windowsapps here like always and when she goes downto the task switcher button, you'll see theUI has evolved to include Timeline. At the top as today are her running apps, but below is a history of all the app activityand web activity that she's doing. But all of this data being stored in the Microsoftgraphallows some pretty interesting and powerfulthings to happen. For one, all that data is there so Sherrycan search. She just goes up here, clicks the search button, then she can type whatever term she wantsand will look at all that activity data. She types kitchen because she wants to pickup her kitchen remodel project, and when shedoes, the PowerPoint deck opens up and goesexactly back to where she was last using it.This gets even more interesting when you thinkabout multiple devices. So let's imagine Sherry's got her brand-newSurfaceBook and she hasn't opened the KitchenRemodel file on it and she hasn't moved itto that device, but when she starts usingit, the right things just happen. As she begins using it, Cortana implementedas an AI in the cloud, able to look at thatgraph data and recognizes that Sherry wasjust working on the Kitchen Remodel projecton her desktop PC, so Cortana suggests thatshe might pick up where she left off.She clicks the PowerPoint item, the file ispulled from the Cloud, she didn't need toput in on her PC in the first place, and shepicks up exactly where she left off.I'm excited to announce that iTunes will becoming to the Windows Store.First thing I'd share is we're making it mucheasier to set up Ubuntu on Windows 10 by bringUbuntu to the Windows Store. So on one click you can easily download andsetup Ubuntu on your Windows 10 device.SUSE Linux will also be coming to the WindowsStore, so you can download that and have thatshell available for your use to run Linuxapps. And we are also working with Fedora.Windows Mix Reality supports the best andmore advanced headsets in the market today.fromthe most immersive and most affordable VirtualReality experiences to HoloLens, the mostcomplete, and still only, fully self-containedholographic computer.Introducing our newest tool: motion controllersfor Windows Mixed Reality. These motion controllers were designed toperfectly complement our Windows Mixed Realityheadset. No external sensors or cameras to configure.Giving you the freedom to move from room toroom or, better yet, from house to house. In fact, these sensors are exactly where youneed them to be.They're inside the headset, using our industry-defining inside-out tracking technology. Our system is optimized for where you're lookingat any given time.If you can see your hands we are trackingthem with high accuracy.Best of all because the sensors are alreadyin the headset, I am happy to announce thatthis holiday, starting with Acer we will havethe most affordable headset plus motion controllerbundles.Priced at just $399 for the set.I am proud to share a transformative projectwith you today. Now this project also happens to be the firstdeep collaboration between Microsoft and CirqueDu Soleil.Add contortionists.Wow.That works very well.Add Lucy.So for us now to be able to see that so earlyin the process is amazing and totally new.Usually we have to wait until we finalizeour casting and artists come to Montreal. But now by looking at it we could even makechanges of some performance or different castingcall.Starting today I am happy to announce thatyou can preorder the Acer and HP Windows MixedReality dev kits at Windows.com/mixedreality.These are the same headsets that will be availableto consumersthis holiday.\n"
