The First Look at Samsung's New Galaxy Tab S 8.4: A TechnoBuffalo Review
Hey guys, this is Todd Hazelton with TechnoBuffalo. I'm here in a meeting, so it might be a little loud and I might be a little quiet, but we're checking out the brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4. This is the name of the family, and what they're going to be marketed under. But this is the 8.4-inch version that you can see right there. It's super AM OLED, some rumors have pointed to that, and now we finally have it. It's the first time in a while that Samsung has added this technology to its display.
You're looking at a super sharp screen with a resolution of 2560 x 600 pixels. And it's incredibly thin – Samsung says thinner than about five credit cards stacked up together. You can see the nice metallic look around on the bottom there, along with the 3.5mm headphone jack, single speaker, micro USB port, and regular home buttons that we've seen before. The 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera is also present, as well as another speaker up top. On the right-hand side of the device, you'll find your power button, volume buttons, and the IR Blaster – a feature we've seen before.
On the back of the device, there's an 8-megapixel camera, along with a nice dotted pattern that resembles the Galaxy S5. There are also new snap buttons that allow you to pop in new cases that Samsung will be releasing. I'll just go through the software real quick. Samsung said the goal is to create the same sort of experience that we saw with the Galaxy S5. So, the software isn't changing much, but you do get applications like Paper Garden, which brings you right to your magazines.
Samsung is trying to show off just how beautiful the display is and highlight some key features such as viewing angles and high contrast ratio. You get super dark blacks and really bright whites – it's a stunning screen that's sure to impress. This device is powered under the hood by 3 gigs of RAM and an Exynos 5 processor with an octa-core setup, which is pretty awesome. I'm using this device even with just one hand moving it around quickly because it's so easy to hold.
As you can see, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a beautiful device that offers a range of features and technologies. Samsung has done a great job in creating a device that's both functional and visually appealing. In our next video, we'll be exploring more features and functionality of this device. Thank you guys for watching! Please subscribe right here; we're the first ones to know whenever new videos get uploaded. We've got a ton of stuff covering phones, tablets, cars – anything related to consumer electronics that's plugged in or used as batteries. We review it all.
