Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos Budget Android In-depth Review GT-S7392

**A Review of the Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos**

I recently had the opportunity to review the Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos, a budget-friendly smartphone that is available for purchase in India at a price point of around 8,500 to 8,000. As I began testing this phone, one of my first observations was the laggy performance when running multiple apps simultaneously. Closing and reopening these apps repeatedly would often result in stuttering, which made me wonder if this phone would be able to handle everyday tasks without any issues.

The camera feature on this phone is 3 megapix shooter, which I found did a decent job outdoors. However, indoors, the lack of flash resulted in photos coming out grainy at times. Additionally, the absence of a front-facing camera meant that I could not test its functionality for video calls or selfies. On a more positive note, the FM radio feature was present and functional.

Moving on to the media playback experience, I downloaded an MX Player and tested it with a 720p video clip. While it played back smoothly for one specific clip, it skipped frames in others. Adjusting the camera settings did not make a significant difference in this regard. To avoid any further lag or stuttering, I restricted the playback to 480p. It's worth noting that YouTube playback was smooth and problem-free, even when playing high-quality videos.

The phone's battery life was decent with single SIM usage, but I couldn't test it with dual SIMs as this feature is not supported on this model. The performance of casual games was acceptable without any major issues, although some high-end games did experience some glitches.

One notable feature that I found lacking in the Galaxy Trend Duos was the presence of proximity sensors. As a result, opening the phone's screen required double-tapping, which can be annoying for frequent users. Additionally, there is no speakerphone functionality available on this model.

**Camera Performance**

The rear-facing camera performed reasonably well outdoors, capturing decent images and videos. However, indoors, the lack of flash resulted in poorly lit photos with a grainy texture. This limitation makes it less than ideal for photography enthusiasts who expect more from their smartphone cameras.

**Multitouch Points and Sensors**

The Galaxy Trend Duos only has two multitouch points, which is fewer compared to other smartphones available in the market. As a result, some features like compass didn't work properly on this device. This limitation can make using certain apps or features less convenient.

**Dialer Experience**

One feature that I found particularly annoying was the lack of proximity sensors in the dialer app. When trying to dial a number, I had to double-tap the screen every time, which can be tedious and frustrating for frequent users.

**Overall Experience**

In conclusion, while the Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos is a budget-friendly option with some decent features, it also has its limitations. The phone's laggy performance when running multiple apps simultaneously and lack of front-facing camera may be deal-breakers for some users. However, those on a tight budget looking to get into smartphone ownership might find this device acceptable.

**Recommendation**

If you're considering purchasing the Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos, I would recommend it only if you're willing to compromise on some features that are not essential to your daily usage. For example, if you don't plan to use the phone for gaming or watching high-definition videos frequently, this might be a suitable option. However, if you expect a smooth and lag-free experience from your smartphone, there may be other options available in the market.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is Ranjit from Tech tass.com and I have the Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos with me which is a very affordable Android phone by Samsung and in India this phone sells for around 8,500 I've seen that in local shops the mrpa printed on the box is 9,810 but you should find it in the local market for around 8,500 or so I'll have the link for flip card in the show notes and the Striking thing about this phone is at this price you get a 4 in screen with a resolution of 480x800 though the screen is adequately sharp let me show you the same uh when I zoom in and as you can see the screen is pretty sharp but the problem is the viewing angles are very average and if you start tilting the phone like this as you can see it starts to quickly fade in uh apart from that it is very Samsung uh styling nothing special uh regarding the camera it has a 3 map camera but do note that it does not have any LED flash and also does not have any front-facing camera it's a dual SIM Android phone and I'm happy to say that it's a active dual SIM and both the Sims can be active at the same time I'll talk about it a bit later and uh coming to the raw specs It Sports a 1 GHz single core processor it has 512 MB of RAM and the GPU on this is uh video core GPU I've already made some videos regarding the gaming in the gaming Department actually it did a decent job I would say so if you're interested in the gaming aspect of this phone you can check out my gaming review The Links will be in the show notes and as this phone has just 5 12 M of ram I wouldn't say that it's the most silky smooth phone at times the phone will stutter here and there you will see the stuttering but again for the price uh you can't complain too much uh it's 8,500 as of now in India but as we know with most of the Samsung phones in a couple of weeks time it should sell for around 8,000 or a little bit less and for that price I would say it's a decent Android phone and let me show you the Android version that comes with this one and as you can see it comes out of the box with the Android version 4.1.2 that is Jelly Bean out of the box so that's good regarding the storage the internal storage that it has is 4GB but out of that you get about 2.3 GB I've installed a lot of apps and still I have uh ample space so and you can also add a Micro SD card up to 32 GB with this phone uh regard in the display um some sites have listed it wrong as that it has auto brightness sensor but it does not have any auto brightness sensor and also in the uh uh terms of the sensors Samsung has skipped a lot of sensors it does not have uh the front uh what you say ambient light sensor it does not even have a proximity sensor so Samsung has skimmed on the sensors uh we do have this quick toggle tray over here from here you can switch on Bluetooth Etc and and uh let me also talk about the dual SIM as it's a dual SIM Android phone you can go to the Sim manager and as you can see the great thing about this phone is that you can make both The Sims active at the same time for example receive incoming calls you check this on it can receive incoming calls even when the other SIM is using data and also you can receive uh the calls from the other SIM even when you are taking a call from other SIM so it's uh you can enable this option so that's a good thing so it's a dual SIM active phone so that's a good thing if you actively uh like to use both The Sims at the same time uh regarding the battery uh I did all my testing with just a single Sim and this back cover opens is nothing special Samsung plasticky cover the battery is A500 mamp battery and uh uh I would say in my testing with just a single Sim the battery life was pretty decent and it can easily last one working day without any issues so battery lives I did not have any problem uh with the phone and and uh this is the app tray as you can see uh yeah there is a little bit of lag but again for most people who aren't used to highend phones uh you'll have a decent experience I would say you do get this guesture and you can add up to seven home screens now I'm connected to my Wi-Fi network so let's uh do some web browsing and we have the Chrome browser pre-installed and first let me uh take you to some mobile specific websites because that's what most users will do uh thereafter we load some desktop sites and let's go to news.com and as you can see it's going to the mobile version right now and the mobile version actually loads pretty quickly and it's pretty uh okay let's open up one of the random stories and as you can see uh it loaded the story without any issues the text is also pretty sharp as you can see so uh in the mobile uh version it is okay and it's decent uh let's also now let's go to our website that's tas.com and we don't have a mobile version so it will take us to the desktop version and here some of the deficiencies of the browsers will be visible and as you can see it's uh loading this this is the desktop version and uh there is a little bit of lag if you just quickly scroll like this it takes time to render because it has just 52 MB of RAM and one another problem that I did notice is that let's open up uh uh the story it has a YouTube video that's embedded within this web page it changes the orientation pretty quickly that's not an issue but for example I have this uh video that's embedded and when I try to play it back I have issues I I did update my Chrome web browser and that also did not fix it for example as you see it gets sted or if it even starts to play uh you will only hear video and it'll be very uh stuttery and again it crash so in my experience if you have YouTube videos United within the web page it does not play them uh but apart from that again as you can see there is a little bit of lag in web browsing pin 2 Zoom is fairly responsive but it takes a second or two to render it back so that's for the web browsing and you see saw that stuttering and that's because of just it has 12 Mb of ram but it runs the Android version 4.1 Jelly Bean because it runs Jelly Bean and you do have Google Now support and let me show you the same what what's the weather like it's 30° and partly cloudy in so as you can see that works but there is a little bit of stuttering and uh I would say it's a good idea to close all these apps again and again otherwise the stutter if you run a lot of apps at the same time the phone tends to become a bit laggy again as you can see it's a bit laggy coming to now moving to the media playback here also I had some okayish experience uh for example I downloaded this MX Player and I have a 720p video clip and let me show you that actually it could play it back but again it's not the smooth test there it tends to skip a few frames again let me uh adjust the camera and as you can see it's playing the 720p clip fine but again with some of the other 720p Clips like MKV video Etc it couldn't play them properly uh yes it can play many of the 720p Clips like this but there tends the frame rates might skip here and there for the smoothest playback I would say restrict it up to 480p okay so let me get R of that one uh I also tried YouTube and YouTube player also works fine with this one and I did not have any problems playing YouTube video uh VI this let's just go to our own channel that's Kiki Ranjit and let's watch some videos that were posted this month itself and uh let's open up this Sony Xperia M video hi there this is as you can see it's playing the YouTube video without any issues it does not play them in HD but it plays them in high quality So and I've changed it to low quality and this is high quality and let you can also get down so uh regarding YouTube I didn't have any problems and it could play back uh YouTube videos within the YouTube player app without any issues now coming to the camera the camera is a 3 mapix shooter Outdoors it did a decent job I would say uh uh but as it does not have any flash indoors uh the photos can come out to be a little bit grainy again it does not have any front-facing camera so I did not test it with Skype and it does have FM radio uh and also let me show you the multi-touch points it has just two multi-touch points again as I told you it does not have many sensors so Compass did not work and now let me show you the dialer and one annoying thing that I found with this phone is that and again with some of the very budget oriented phones that do not have any proximity sensor let me dial this number and as you can see it does not have any proximity sensor so to get to the screen you need to double tap like this so this can be a little bit annoying and this is the speaker phone for this phone so that was the dialer and again as it does not have any proxim sensor you need to double tap that screen every time so I would say if you make a lot of phone calls with your phone then this is not ideal look for a phone uh that has a proximity sensor so that when you just bring it near your year automatically the display uh goes off so I found it annoying but again uh if you're okay with that and it has dual SIM active support it's it might be okay for you so what do I feel about this uh Samsung Galaxy Trin Duos that is sold in India specifically the model number GTS 7392 uh the biggest selling factor for this phone is this 4 in screen for the price point of around 8,500 or 8,000 and yes the screen is okay but again as I said the viewing angles are pretty bad as you can see it quickly fades in um and uh it's okay for the performance as I said won't be blazingly fast yes you will definitely notice lag here and there half a second or so but if you're okay with that uh I found battery life decent with single Sim and uh the performance as I said is okayish it could play some uh uh casual games without any issues and even some high-end games with some glitches it could play so overall I would say it's okay phone but again uh if it skims on a lot of sensors like proximity sensor it also does not have any front-facing camera the rear facing camera Outdoors it does a okay job uh but again if you post take a lot of pictures I would say that look for Samsung phones having a 5 megapix camera they are much better for example the Samsung Galaxy Fame uh has a 5 megapix shooter and also a front-facing camera that's a actually a little bit better phone phone but for a tight budget of around 8,500 to 8,000 I would say this is okay phone but again don't expect that uh it would be a completely lag free experience I hope you found this video review helpful that's it for now this is ranit and I hope to see you in my next video youhi there this is Ranjit from Tech tass.com and I
