How To Program A New Code - Electronic Deadbolt

**Understanding and Programming Electronic Dead Bolts**

As homeowners, we often find ourselves dealing with electronic dead bolts that can be a bit tricky to program. If you're one of them, don't worry! In this article, I'll guide you through the process of programming your electronic dead bolt using easy steps.

First things first, if you've purchased a home or are installing a new lock and aren't sure how to program it, take off the back piece of the lock. Inside, there's a small tag that has a programming code on it. This tag is usually a yellow sticker with a series of numbers written on it. The programming code is essential to unlock your dead bolt, so make sure you find it before proceeding.

Once you've found the programming code, take apart the lock and locate the keypad. You'll need this to enter your own user code, which is a combination that will unlock your door. To start, use the programming code from the tag to push in the keypad. This will allow you to open the door and get familiar with the lock's interface.

Next, you'll need to enter your own user code. Since yours is different from mine (the one I used as an example), be prepared for three long beeps and an orange light. Pushing the orange light on the keypad will turn it blue, and then you can start entering your new code. Make sure to wait for the beeps and enter your code twice to confirm.

Now that you've successfully programmed your user code, let's test it out! Lock the door by pushing the top button and extending the bolt. You should see the bolts move into place, securing your door. To try out your new code, push the top button again and extend the bolt. If everything is working correctly, you should hear a green flashing light and a beep.

**Deleting User Codes**

If you need to delete an existing user code or update it, follow these simple steps. First, locate the programmer number on the tag (which was 613 for me). You'll get three beeps when you press this button, followed by an orange light. Pushing the orange light will turn the keypad blue, and then you can start entering your new code.

To delete a user code, push the button again to get the beeps, followed by two long presses on the keypad. This will display the numbers of the code you want to delete. Make sure to enter these numbers twice to confirm that they are indeed the ones you want to remove.

One more thing to note is that most electronic dead bolts take four numbers for a user code, and it's recommended to have at least two working codes before deleting any old ones. Make sure to update your codes regularly to ensure security.

**Conclusion**

Programming an electronic dead bolt may seem daunting, but with these easy steps, you should be able to do it in no time. Remember to always check the programming code on the tag and use it to enter your own user code. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification. With a little practice, you'll be a pro at programming electronic dead bolts in no time!

house or maybe you're doing a new install and you just are having a little trouble with the programming I'm going to show you uh my easy steps to get it done so with these with these locks if you uh like I said if you've purchased the home and you don't know how to program it you first need to take off this back piece and inside there there's going to be a tag I can't remember if it's on the the back piece or on this piece and that tag is just going to be a little yellow sticker like this and on there it's going to have a programming code okay so you need that code to be able to do this so get take your lock apart find that code if you don't have the instructions and uh that's the first thing you're going to need so now to enter your own user code which is your own combination to unlock the door you're going to use that programming code you're going to push that in we got the door open we've got the lock uh in uh you're going to use your push in your programming code yours is going to be different than mine it's going to give three long beeps and an orange light then you're going to push this orange light the key pad turns blue then you're going to push one okay wait for the beeps enter the would you want it's going to beep give you an orange light enter it again now I get a beep and a green light and it's done so now it's in there and uh we can give it a test so let's uh on this lock lock it you just need to push that top button extend the bolt so let's just say the door is locked you can see the bolts out uh let's try our new code I get a green flashing light and a beep and I've got a few seconds to turn this knob to uh retract the bolt and it all works okay now um let's say we wanted to to uh delete that code Let's see we need our programmer number again uh what was that 613 008 was mine you're going to get the beeps we're going to push that button then we're going to get the orange light again we're going to push two now we're going to push in the numbers that we want to get rid of and we're going to do it twice you get a long green light that that one's gone now when you dig out that and you dig out that yellow tag with your programming code on it it's also going to have two pre-programmed user codes in there those may have never been deleted um so you may want to delete those after you've programmed in a new number that you want or a couple new numbers I think most of these locks will take four numbers four different numbers for whatever reason reason so make sure you have ones in there that you know that you want and are working before you delete try to delete any old user codes okay so hopefully that uh was fairly clear and uh it's it's kind of one of those things if you don't have these instructions with the steps all written down on it uh you don't know which way to turn you can probably find it online I suppose well I guess you did you found my video um so if you have any questions about installing one of these dead bolts I will be posting a video on that so check out my channel and uh see if it's up yet thanks a lot for watching house improvementshi I'm Shannon from house improvements.com and do you have
