The Chevrolet Update for Real Racing 3: A New Era of Racing
Hey guys, this is Simon Sage from iMore. We're at GDC 2013 checking out new and upcoming content updates for Real Racing 3. So, this is the Chevrolet update, and we're introducing a fan favorite manufacturer to Real Racing 3. We had them in Real Racing 2, but unfortunately, they didn't quite make it to Real Racing 3. Luckily, we got them in straight away, as they were the most requested manufacturer.
We've got a couple of Chevy cars at launch, including the Camaro and Cobalt SS. We've also got over 100 new events in the game, bringing the total to over 1,000 events. A lot of content has been added, including a bunch of new features. The biggest requested feature was actually something fairly technical and simple - Cloud saves. Now, we've got it uploaded once a day every day, and you can manually upload and download saves as well. It's crossplatform compatible, so Android, iOS, iPhone, iPad - it works across everything.
We've also got notifications Center, which allows you to look at all your friends talking about racing with them. The notification flow is much better nowadays, making it easier to jump into a race with your friends. We've also got a new event type called Hunter mode, which brings up to eight or nine different events. Drop straight into it - essentially, you've got to hunt down a car and pass them in one lap. They get a head start depending on the track and the cars. On this track, I think it's a 30-second head start. Let me just show you the graphics on the big screen here.
As we can see, the Chevrolet C has a 30-second head start. It'll jump ahead now - it's my turn, all right. We've got TSM opponents playing as well. You can see that number - that seventh guy was seven whatever yards behind the hunter car. When the hunter car finished, I should be able to pass most of these guys pretty easily.
This is a real track - every year there's an event called BST, which is like all the tracks are based on real tracks and it's real racing racing. Here we can see the hunter car and a friend of mine who thinks he just lost to them by five yards but I should be able to pass them. When can we expect the new update? This update should be live around mid-April.
We're planning on having the Android update at the same time, which is excellent. Now, the game is free to play - you know we always take on board feedback from everyone so we make tweaks and produce new content based on what the community wants. We've always done that with racing games and will continue to do it.
For new players who first come to Real Racing, here's a tip: by default, you've got all the assists turned on. Get used to easy control methods for a bit and then try turning down the assists or turning them off. You'll eventually get better times. This is Simon Sage for iMore - we're at GDC 2013, and we just checked out the upcoming Chevrolet content update for Real Racing 3.
