in the old Viserys CPUs have plummeted in value and this makes them very tempting especially when you consider that they use motherboards that utilize ddr3 RAM which is of course a lot cheaper than the newer ddr4 and has been for quite some time as for the chips themselves it's not hard to find even the FX 8350 one of the best in the range for way less than 100 pounds or dollars and they're actually cheaper to buy new on a lot of sites as opposed to used so is it still worth it for gaming and if you have one should you upgrade well let's look at the specs and then we'll test out some games so the FX 8350 is an 8 core CPU clocked at 4 gigahertz and I chose to talk about this one because it's one of the best FX processors available and appears to be one of the most common still available new at least here in the UK it's on the am3+ socket and sports a 125 watt TDP it's also unlocked when it comes to gaming and paired with a GTX 1060 it will still fare quite well at 1080p that being said I think a 1060 or rx 570 are probably the highest you'd want to go in terms of graphical power you could use something higher but at that point there would be more instances where by the CPU would become more of a bottleneck as you can see from the titles played today you should be able to maintain steady frame rates even at stock speeds though in some cases there were instances of stutter like in Kingdom Come deliverance which does perform a little better these days though thanks to performance patches the same can be said for pub G with that said considering this cpu came out in 2012 I think it does an ok job to be honest though as I said before pairing it with anything more powerful GPU wise wouldn't make too much sense and if you have a card like this then consider upgrading the processor and not the GPU if you're seeing any performance issues of course the FX 8350 isn't the only ethics in this series even cheaper now at the 6000 and 4000 options - I've tested those in the past as well like the 6350 and found that they can still play games quite well granted you will see improvements with newer AMD cpus like the rise in range the FX range were never celebrated and they are even hated by some but as a cheap way into the world of PC gaming they do suffice a rise in three would be a better option if you are starting a new build and don't mind paying more for ddr4 Ram think of it as a long term investment because you will thank yourself later on especially if you ever come to upgrade it to arise in five or verizon 7 another example of why you to see that the old piledriver architecture still has some fight left in it and will make light work of even some of the newest games out there also with prices like these on some used markets it's not impossible to see why you may want to go for a build featuring a CPU like this to save quite a bit of money ok so let's ignore the subject of bottlenecking for a second is the FX 8350 capable of running modern games when paired with a card like a GTX 1060 well yes it is you should be able to obtain 60 frames per second at 1080p in a lot of titles depending of course on the settings that you want to play at is it worth buying an FX 8350 in 2018 brand new well probably not considering how close it is in price to say it used Rison 3 1200 or though with that option you will have to buy into the more expensive ddr4 Ram but it is worth in my opinion for those future upgrade parts with an FX three-fifty you can't really go that much higher buying an fx 83-70 wouldn't make that much difference but if you buy into the a m4 platform you can get arising through 1200 now or 2200 G and perhaps upgrade to a risin 5 or even 7 later on so what about if you have an FX 8350 currently in your system well as I'm sure you probably know you still can play a lot of the latest games hassle-free and if you wanted to find a suitable upgrade from that position then I would suggest opting for a risin vibe as opposed to a risin 3 which won't be as much of an upgrade as it will sort of a step sideways even the risin 5 1400 would prove to be a nice boost over the 8300 series from AMD as for
