Everything NEW in iOS 17 Dev Beta 5 & Public Beta 3! Live Voicemail, Shortcuts, & Animations

The Fifth Developer Beta of iOS 17: Everything New and Changed

Welcome to Insider, I'm Andrew here, and Apple has released the fifth developer beta of iOS 17. As we get closer to that September release date, Apple continues to refine the operating system focusing on stability and squashing bugs before it releases this update to everybody. However, even though we are getting close to that release date, Apple still has more features and enhancements to make to the update.

I'm going to show you everything that is new in this fifth beta, let's go ahead and dive into it starting off. Apple's continued to prove several animations for example this one here inside of messages this already looks a bit better. Apple's continued to tweak this like we've seen icon changes here they just seem to polish up the animation how that works how this expands from The Little Dot and how it goes back into the plus button kind of Pops at the end all of them just subtly tweaked from how it looked before.

If we go back to our home screen even things like the animation for pulling up search has been slightly changed from how it was before it feels very fluid very nice I'm really liking the improvements to the animations and the frame rates here in this Smith beta. If you're using check-in inside of messages and you go into settings there's no sample data to correspond with what type of information you're sending whether it's limited or full so limited you can see things like your location your Apple watch your iPhone your battery signals or your battery health how much is remaining your signal strength Wi-Fi all of that and full we'll include more information such as your last unlock when your Apple watch was removed and your exact path and what happened along the way.

So, all this example data is now included so you can kind of more understand when you're sending limited or full information to somebody. State of Mind inside of the health app there's this new picture here at the top this kind of mood glyph animation whatever you want to call this but this picture here at the top that is new for the State of Mind tracking inside of the health app.

If you're using the remote app here on your phone to control your Apple TV there's a pop-up that first appeared when I launched this for each Apple TV after updating the new beta here is what it looked like. I managed to grab a screen screenshot and funny enough I actually had this appear for me in beta 4 but it disappeared immediately before he could even grab a screenshot now it will actually show up here.

However, but it doesn't go away automatically once I tap on it it disappears and it's gone but I still see no way to actually track your remote it's not in the find my app at all it's supposed to be here inside of the actual control the remote control app um but it's not so maybe coming here in the six beta but now we at least have a little modal alert to correspond to it.

Safari seems to have some new icons for different actions here inside of the shortcuts app and if we go ahead and choose one of these sure we'll just do this now you can actually have these run without confirmation shortcuts used to be able to do this then Apple had removed the feature now it is back here in beta 5. so you can have things run based on location immediately without you having to confirm them so as you leave the house and arrive home you can have them run automatically finally it looks like we have a phone call coming in let's go ahead and send this lovely lady straight to voicemail to check out a new feature for live voicemail right now she's getting a prompt and this prompt has changed basically said like keep talking and maybe they'll answer now this default greeting has changed to a more traditional one that just says leave a message they'll try to get back to you this person is unavailable and you can see right now it says the message is being left if I want to I can swipe here and answer that message this should be translated in real time but it looks like during the beta this just simply isn't happening hopefully it will in time for release Here we can see the transcript inside of the phone app and this is what we show on the log screen if that live transcript was working but again the only thing that's really been changed now is this actual greeting on the default option and that's it that is everything that is new that I have found so far in iOS 17 developer beta 5. there's still many more changes though so let me know if you spot anything different Down Below in the comments and I'll update the corresponding article with any changes that you may find otherwise stay tuned I have a lot more videos and Hands-On of io17 and Apple's other
