Intel UHD 730 Vs New Demanding Games (Battlefield, Halo, Forza etc.)

Taking an Updated Look at the Intel UHD 730 Graphics Found Inside the i5 11400

I recently took out an updated look at the intel uhd 730 graphics found inside the i5 11400. I had forgotten that I still had this cpu, which I borrowed from the wonderful team at ccl online months ago. When the courier came to pick it up, I was out, so it never got collected. If anyone from ccl is watching, first of all, thanks again and secondly, please get in touch, and I'll happily return this back to you. In the meantime, though, definitely check out cco online for all of your computing needs. I'll leave a link below.

Let's get into it and take the i5 11 400 for another spin. This time, we've made plenty of gaming with no graphics card videos using the athlon 3000g. It's only fair that we give this another chance. I'm primarily using the latest 101.1121 beta drivers for today's tests. First up, it's Battlefield 2042. This will run with 25 fps on average at 720p low with 25 dynamic scaling enabled. The chip is paired with 16 gigs of 3200 megahertz dual channel ddr4. While some maps will hit 30 fps quite a lot of the time, the three game average was a bit less than that. The footage here is from about match for convenience sake, but the figures were taken from online games in Cyberpunk 2077.

We set the game to run at a static 50 of 720p resolution with the low settings and crowd density we just fell short of a 30 fps average, but we did exceed this every so often especially the further out of night city we got. Interestingly, the UHD 730 graphics are exclusive to the 11400 and 11 400 T. I'm not sure where I was going with that information, but if you want a slightly better iGPU experience, then the 11 500 uses UHD 750 graphics. From a CPU point of view, it's probably not worth the extra money.

A result of this test was pleasingly surprising with GTA San Andreas: The Definitive Edition which at 720p hit a 50 fps average. Areas like Idlewood and Ganton performed a little worse than the industrial area surrounding the airport for example, and performance went from anywhere between 30 to 75 fps. Hence, the respectable average we are currently losing a lot of the visual effects that can make this definitive edition stand out and you have to ask yourself whether it would make more sense to just play the original title and get over 60 frames per second almost all of the time.

With that said, if you want to play this version then you can do so with this CPU and no discrete GPU. I must warn you about flashing images for a Halo Infinite result underneath this flickering mess was a 30 fps average frame rate. I tried using older drivers to try and remedy this issue but the game wouldn't start. So, we can either play the game like this or we can just have it crash every time. Damned if we do and damned if we don't.

I guess forza horizon 5 which I have previously praised for its great optimization certainly didn't let me down here over 40 fps was possible with the very low preset and MSAA set to 2x. I combined a mix of solo driving and multiple competitor races to get this result. There were a few sudden drops especially when driving between empty roads and towns, but overall, the game although looking like a 360 launch title ran fairly well all things considered just like in Halo.

Far Cry 6 had issues, I tried this game with the latest drivers, the previous 106.9 drivers, and the drivers from way back in March but the same thing happened. One thing I prefer about AMD's integrated graphics is that they're more consistent in their compatibility still. I'm sure this could be fixed with driver updates it might even only be a problem that's specific to me and my hardware.

To finalize here's a look at Crisis Remastered which runs at 30 fps with 720p and the low settings once again, there are some noticeable dips here and there as I'm sure you can pick up from the frame time graph on the left of the screen going forward. I'll be including Intel UHD graphics in future no graphics card videos whether it's the UHD 730 iGPU or something different because there are still instances whereby modern games can run relatively well even if you have to make them look quite bad to do so.

As always, thank you for watching. Thank again to CCL who's I5 I've accidentally been borrowing for months. I'll leave a link to this processor in the description if you would like one. All that's left to say is leave a like if you enjoyed it, leave a dislike if you didn't, and follow me on social media for more content like this.
