Me Trashing a Product for 7 Minutes. PowerSpot Wireless 💩

The Power Spot Wireless Charging Grip: A Disappointing Experience

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Power Spot Wireless Charging Grip, which claims to charge devices wirelessly within a certain proximity. However, my experience with this product was underwhelming, and I would not recommend it to others.

One of the main issues I had with the Power Spot is its limited charging range. According to the manufacturer, the optimal charging distance is two inches, and if you get any closer or farther away, the charging efficiency drops significantly. This means that if you try to charge your device within a foot of the Power Spot, it's not going to work optimally at all. I was surprised to see that the manufacturer claims users can charge their devices wirelessly up to seven inches away from the Power Spot, but in reality, this distance is only optimal for two inches.

Another issue I had with the Power Spot was its design. The power switch is embedded into the grip itself, and you need tweezers to turn it on and off. This is a frustrating design choice that makes it difficult to use the product without feeling like you're fiddling with tiny tools. Additionally, charging times are slower than plugging in your device directly, which is not ideal for someone who wants quick access to power.

One of the most concerning issues I had with the Power Spot was its lack of transparency about its charging capabilities. The manufacturer claims that it can charge devices wirelessly within a certain range, but there's no clear indication of what percentage the device is charged at. This makes it difficult to track your device's battery level without downloading an app. To make matters worse, the Power Spot comes with a warning in the manual not to operate within 20 centimeters of the product because it's not deemed safe for human health. While this may be true, I would have liked to see more information about the product's safety features and how they work.

Despite its potential as a wireless charging solution, the Power Spot Wireless Charging Grip is not worth the money. The product costs $50, which is three times the original price quoted by the manufacturer, but it still fails to deliver on its promises of fast and efficient charging. In fact, my experience with the Power Spot was that it took over four hours to charge my Joy-Con controllers, even when they were directly attached to the grip. This is a far cry from the promised 20-minute charging time quoted by the manufacturer.

Overall, I would not recommend the Power Spot Wireless Charging Grip to anyone who wants a reliable and efficient wireless charging solution. While it shows promise as a potential step towards a future where we don't need cables anymore, it's still a long way off. For now, I would stick with plugging in my devices directly or using other wireless charging solutions that are more effective and efficient.

In the end, I'm left wondering what the point of having something like this close to each other is if you could just plug it in and get it charged quickly. The Power Spot Wireless Charging Grip may be a step in the right direction towards a future where we don't need cables anymore, but it's not there yet.
