Holiday Tips For Your Chromecast and Google Home or Mini

**Getting Started with Google Home and Chromecast**

When you first set up your Google Home device, it will prompt you to sync your library. This feature allows you to upload an unlimited amount of photos at high resolution directly to Google Photos, making it easy to access and share your favorite memories. To start this process, simply connect to Wi-Fi, and then click the "Sync Your Library" option. The app will guide you through the process of uploading your photos.

**Searching and Adding Photos**

Once you've synced your library, you can search for specific photos or albums using the Google Photos app. Simply type in a keyword, such as "Christmas," and the app will pull up any photos that match your search query. You can then browse through the results and select the photos you want to add to your album. To do this, hold down on a photo and drag it towards the top of the screen, or select individual photos by clicking on them. You can also scroll through the results and click on specific photos to add them to your album.

**Creating Albums**

To create an album, simply click on the "Add" button at the top of the screen, followed by "Album." Type in a name for your album, such as "Christmas Photos," and then click the checkmark at the top of the screen. You can now add more photos to this album by clicking the "+" icon at the top right corner of the screen.

**Adding Albums to Google Home**

To display your albums on your Chromecast Ultra, go back to the Google Home app and navigate to the "Home" tab. Click on the three dots in the top right corner and select "Backdrop Settings." Here, you can choose which photos or albums you want to display. Select "Google Photos" as the source, followed by selecting the specific album you created earlier.

**Customizing Backdrop Settings**

You can customize your backdrop settings to control what appears on your screen. For example, you can turn off certain features such as Google Arts and Culture or Feature Photos. You can also adjust the speed at which photos appear, with options for fast or slow scrolling. Additionally, you can check the weather by clicking on the "Weather" option.

**Using Voice Commands**

One of the most convenient features of Google Home is its ability to respond to voice commands. To display your photos on the Chromecast Ultra, simply say "Show my photos of snow on the Chromecast Ultra." This feature allows you to easily access and share your favorite memories without having to physically interact with your device.

**Conclusion**

In conclusion, setting up your Google Home device and connecting it to your Chromecast Ultra is a relatively straightforward process. By syncing your library and using the app's search function, you can easily add photos to albums and display them on your screen. Additionally, customizing your backdrop settings and responding to voice commands make this device a powerful tool for displaying memories and controlling your home environment.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enin today's video I'm gonna show you a few holiday tricks that you can use with your chromecast and Google home devices let's get started hey everybody welcome to tech with Brett where I help tech work for you welcome to December and today is the beginning of a great month where you starting Christmas shopping you're doing all kinds of fun things and I'm gonna show you a few tricks that I use around the holiday season with my Google devices so the first thing that I'm going to show you is how to create this fireplace effect in the background with your chromecast now this will work on the chromecast or the chromecast ultra so if you go into the Google Play Music app on your phone and just cast a song and put it on the TV it's not going to show this it's going to show some pictures in the background there's a quick and easy step that you can do to enable the fireplace on the background so first you need a head on over to google.com /music once you go to there make sure that you sign into the same account that you are signed in on your chromecast device when you sign in if you click on the top left of the screen then you go down into the settings of your Google Music account then you'll need to scroll down to the very bottom of this list until you find the labs portion and here you will enable fireplace for Google Play Music so once that is turned on whenever you cast music from Google Play it will actually play the fireplace in the background so once you have turned on the visualizer on the website now you just need to go to google play music and you can play any radio station or any song that you have uploaded or if you pay for the music subscription you can play any Christmas music that you want to once you cast to the chromecast it will then play your music on the TV as well as show the visualizer of the fireplace now that you've set all that up the second thing that you can do is play directly from your Google home device so here in the background we just have the chromecast showing and then all I need to do is play the music from my Google home play my holiday music on chromecast ultra sure playing your Google Play Music playlist called holiday on chromecast ultra so there it has started the music over here and then the fireplace will start up once the holiday season is over and you want to disable the fireplace make sure you go back here and turn off the fireplace visualizer so to play this music I've actually set up my own playlist and you can customize those all on google play music you can also add any of your own songs that you have if you have the mp3 files you can upload those make sure you click the pop up on screen if you want to learn how to upload your own music to Google Play Music now if you want to play any music now if I just ask Google home to play a song or a radio station it will automatically play and it will ask you if you want to keep playing on the chromecast ultra play pentatonix Christmas music should I still play that on chromecast ultra yes ok a pentatonix christmas from google play music playing on chromecast ultra so now it's changed the song and it's gonna play the pentatonic song up there on the TV and once you are casting to the TV you don't need to keep saying the name of the TV it will know that you're already casting to that device and it will just adjust the volume change the music whatever you need to do play your pause right on that TV pause so there it has stopped the music now the second thing that you can do on your chromecast is set up the backdrop so when you're not playing music or watching something you can have it show your favorite Christmas pictures on the backdrop so let me show you how you can do that so the first step is to head on over to the Google Photos application on your Android or iPhone device now once you are in here if you haven't already synced your photos on your phone I encourage you to do that you just need sure that's turned on connect to Wi-Fi it will then upload all those photos so now once you've done that I'm going to go in here and I'm just going to search for a few things so I can just search for Christmas and then here it's going to pull up any photos that it finds that are similar to Christmas so there we have some photos of Santa here we have some photos of us at the lights and you can go through and see all of these different pictures I can then go to ones that maybe I want to add to my backdrop and here I can hold down and then drag and select multiple of those or I can just select a couple and then scroll through and click on the ones that I want to use once I have selected all the photos I want I just need to click the add up here in the top and then I'm going to click Add to there you can do all that a few other settings you have here is custom speed so you can increase the speed or if you want to down have them show up longer you can click that right there and then here
