The Benefits of Ford's Motorcraft Service for Older Cars

Main dealerships aren't always the first port of call for those with older cars. They can seem too expensive and not always interested in dealing with us. That's why Ford has started offering what it calls a Motorcraft service for people with older cars, claiming it offers fantastic value for money.

We're here to find out how they do it. Hello there, nice to meet you. How are you doing? I'm here with Craig Stone, he's the assistant service manager. PC Harrison Ford is also here in Derby. Maybe you can just tell us a bit about the sort of services you can offer, especially to people with older cars?

We run a scheme called a Ford MotoCast 4 plus, which is designed for vehicles four years and over. It comprises of both a minor service or major Service. Both of them are similarly in the basic checks that are carried out, such as exhaust brakes, tie rods, suspension - everything you'd expect from a service.

The minor service is an oil and filter change. The major service is more extensive, with a brake check when the wheels are removed, and any spark plugs, filters, fuel filters, model-specific parts required. Now, about cost. Surely it's always going to be more expensive to come to a main dealer than it would be to go to an independent?

Not at all. We'll offer a price match as well. If you get a quote from an independent mechanic, we'll aim to beat that price so your price match is accepted. Theoretically, you should be able to get exactly the same levels of dealership service but at the same prices as a local independent.

Definitely yeah. We also offer a free E check with every vehicle that is brought into the workshop. So, no matter what age your car is, you can come in here and get all those benefits from us. Yes definitely. A part of the E check is a 30-point health check on the vehicle, where we check comprehensively over the body, brakes, tires, etc. We use genuine parts which are well-suited for your vehicle.

Not to mention, if you have a minor or major Motorcraft service or any service, you get free European Roadside Recovery, which is provided for a year on that vehicle, with no hidden cost not at all transparent. You'd authorize the work we put it back into the workshop; we schedule the time say how long you're going to be and go from there.

Also, another benefit is you're going to get a wash and the front wheel exactly so take the service price out just for the roadside assistance and the wash - you've paid for your service over anyway. So, you're saying that the people here are just going to be better at looking after my car because they know Ford's better than anyone else? Absolutely.
