EnGenius Smart Mesh Router ESR580 Review

**The Ingenius Mesh AC 2200: A Game-Changing Wi-Fi Solution**

I was testing the AC 2600 router and experienced some interference issues, which led me to switch to the Ingenius Mesh AC 2200, a new product that I'm excited to review.

As an AC 2200 device, I didn't expect it to outperform my previous router in terms of speed. However, reality is different from expectations, and this mesh router has exceeded my expectations. We're currently experiencing speeds of over 300 Mbps, which is more than ideal for a Wi-Fi connection at this distance.

One of the key features that caught my attention was the ability to add new units to the network using the app. I had one unit already set up, and when I added the second unit, it literally found it and said "done." The information programmed into the first unit automatically got programmed into the second unit, which is a phenomenal feature.

The mesh design of this product is very impressive. It's app-controlled products that when detected by another unit, are locked into your account, making them secure. No one else can log into your device unless they break your password. This feature gives me peace of mind, and I'm happy to have Wi-Fi coverage all the way to my shed.

I've tested many Wi-Fi extenders in the past, but most of them don't do their job well. They're either weak or breakable. The Ingenius Mesh AC 2200 has solved my blackout issues at home, and I'm thrilled with its performance.

To add another unit, you need to be logged into your account, and then it detects the unit and asks if this is the one you want. If you click yes, it's done. This feature is similar to adding Wi-Fi power plugs, which I have in my house for controlling lights and other devices.

The Ingenius Mesh AC 2200 has been a game-changer for me, and I'm happy to recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable Wi-Fi solution. It's worth the money, and I'm excited to see how it performs in different environments.

WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou've heard of having problems with your internet throughout your house maybe you have a really big home maybe you have structure issues something that could you know limit your wireless connectivity and in today's society everything is pretty much wireless i mean i don't even have cable tv anymore all my tv viewing is either via netflix amazon or other venues so i rely on internet for my kids my wife for me the whole family and i find that is happening more and more and more as we move on internet is just taking over our whole entire life as far as entertainment goes and there are places where you can get internet and you can't even get proper television and you struggle with these old farm houses or whatever the case may be you struggle with wi-fi in all of your hot spots you're trying to figure out ways to fix it and the convenient way of course was to buy these mobile hotspot thingies that you put places and they just didn't work out right what they didn't know is that the new boys in town are called mesh routers i'm here to review the ingenious esr 580 it's a twin pack this is a different ball game this is even app controlled via your phone so let's take a look at what's in this box let's get it set up i'll give you my thoughts did this help me do i supply the internet to the whole entire neighborhood accidentally let's see what we got so so new generation of home wi-fi and that's what this really is supposed to be a whole new generation they say you can set up one of these in about 30 minutes so what you do you get two of these units they kind of look like your google home or google nest or that kind of interesting thing one goes near your or plugs directly into your router or your switch and then the other one would actually it has the same hookups too which is very impressive so the other one which i'm wondering now if i have a hard wire out that means i can actually have hard wire somewhere else located in the house so you get two of these of course two power adapters a short network cable and mounting hardware guys if this works out the way it's supposed to be i say it's ingenious get it so let's just open up one of these have a quick look here so it looks like you have your win and land so you do you have a lan out which is absolutely ingenious i did it again and your wan which would hook up to your router or your network your modem power of course and you actually have a usb here which would be really good if that usb is actually able to be used for data because that'd be pretty cool somewhere else in the household so you can mount it to the wall or you can lay it down just like a google home or uh i guess we gotta keep i keep saying google home but it could be like an amazon product or or whatever a set-top box or anything like that so what you get in the box of course is your two power adapters mounting hardware short network cable and two ingenious mesh routers okay so one of the first things we're going to do is we're going to download the app it's uh you search en mesh by ingenius so that's what we're going to do now so i'm just going to grab my phone we're going to download that app mesh and by ingenius top one here it says ingenious networks inc we're going to install that it's installed we're just going to open i'm just going to take a look at it real quick and boom we have the app now on the phone and this is where we set it up for ourselves to make sure that we're secure of course and and away we go so i'm gonna set up an account here and we're gonna go from there okay so this little bad boy here so what i did i connected it i basically unplugged the gigabit network going to my gaming computer plugged it into this ingenious main one and i have another one right here and i'll talk about that again set up as well so once you install your app on your phone you set up your your switch your router your ap unit your mesh now this is what's beautiful about this so there's 10 simple steps it takes you through a few steps you uh qr code scan the bottom i'll look at this one here because this one here there's a qr code on the bottom of each one uh and the main one that you're using you do a scan of that qr code then it gives you access to this unit then from there i change my password username and everything that i want on this unit and then the final steps of course is just a matter of making your own wi-fi password and so on for these aps now i did a speed test internal on just these switches plugged in i got 288.85 uh so down and my upload was 29.78 now i have a gigabit down here and i have 30 up so my up is still 29.78 i could definitely be gaming on this so what i want to do now i'm still connected to my main account so i'm connected to my main router the reason why i did this was this is hooked up to my hard line which is my gigabit from my gigabits uh setup it goes to my main router which is an ac 2600 from d-link this is an ac 2200 so now we're about to find out who's faster on the wi-fi so this bad boy here set up with the latest ac technology so i'm going to be able to get the maximum that i can get out of it so first i'm going to do a speed test on my main account then i'm going to do a speed test on these that are technically slower so let's see what happens so due to some technical difficulties with okie or whatever you want to call it i'm going to use rogers which is the local provider for internet here for gigabit speed tests now what i'm doing first i'm doing this plugged in hard wire to this so my computer is now plugged into this mesh router but the mesh router is receiving the information wirelessly so we're going to do a speed test based on that so first speed test is hardwired but not hardwired it's a wireless hardwire so if you wanted to have a hardwire connection in your living room using one of these boxes what you would get for an outcome now what i did too is i moved the other one in the server room so it's now away from this i didn't want any interference between the two boxes and that could have been an issue because one was just right here they were like literally an arm away from each other that could have been causing some problems so at this point we're getting a 192.6 download and 30.5 upload with a ping of 21. so now i'm going to unplug that wire you're going to see me here unplug it we're not plugged into this anymore it's just going to lay wherever you wish to see it and i'm going to connect via my main system first so wirelessly on my main system first it's very warm in here so now we're connected to my main system we're going to do this again so we have a ping of 20 now not 21. come on baby keep climbing again i have some very nice it's it's the aurora's wi-fi built into this board so i don't determine it as a a negative factor in any way here this is the auroras 5x570 pro wi-fi board and we are at 485.1 download so more than double and we still uh we actually got an upload of 31 and my upload here is actually 30 so that's actually really awesome now we're going to disconnect and we're going to go on the wi-fi based on this alone now remember that was an ac 2600 now we're going to be ac 2200 the idea behind this though is to find out for a distance how well will this perform and that is the key here so what i'm going to do after i do this i'm actually going to move this piece way over to the other end of the house test it again and see if it affects it so first we got to go down oops let me find my mouse there it is white background get you every time we're going to disconnect from my main ingenious connect okay so now we have internet again give it a second speed test once again our ping is now 21 which is the same thing we got when we were hardwired i'm just hoping it does better on the i know it shouldn't but the wi-fi i was kind of hoping would be faster than a hard plugged into the wi-fi i know it doesn't make any sense but it's something i'm going for what i want to see here is some consistency and by the look of it that's not there i'm going to run it one more time just in case it didn't pick everything up right away and that caused a delay on it but we did get a 154.7 and a 29.9 up so we're we've lost 50 megabits a second here on the wireless when i was plugged in wireless which makes not a whole lot of sense so we're gonna run that again just to see if that was just a freak accident and then we'll take those numbers and i have a ping of 22. so we got a 170.7 i think this is just a fluctuation of the wonderful world of the wi-fi um we're still maintaining it looks like we're still going to hit the 30. we got 29.9 on the upload so guys bear with me i'm going to be right back we're going to plug this in on the other end of the house let's see if we can still get around the 170.7 if we do it's a pretty solid product and that's not counting other features that it can do because this product can actually uh via the usb you can control data from here you can transfer files and so on i'm not going to worry about that it's not something that i am used to or or would be interested in i'm interested in expanding my internet so that i can get it in my shed proper and so on and that's what this is going to do for me uh my main goals i have a file server i mean i am a computer guy so i do have a rack mount server room and one day maybe i'll show you guys that when it's cleaned up in there and that's where the other unit like this is now plugged into my my main router so i wanted everything to be uh as truthful as possible so i'm just going to move this now and i'll be right i back okay i've moved it everything's all the way to the other end of the house let's give this a shot so our numbers our last numbers are 170.7 with an upload of 29.9 hey we now have a ping of 19. we are climbing come on we now have a download of 329.6 and an upload of 30.6 now i want to verify that my router has not switched make sure that i'm still on the same one still connected to the ingenious okay so now i'm going to do another run just to see consistency here so 329.6 to beat our pain just went up to 20. okay so we didn't beat it but we got a 324 even which means we're consistently staying up in the threes now so i'm going to actually do one more run because this kind of thing could be really up and down i want to do one more run just to see if our consistency stays up in that area because we did a 170 when it was close that means we may have been having some interference of some sort causing some issues so it is not faster than the ac 2600 which i didn't expect it to be and i hope you guys as a viewer understand that this is an ac 2200 we're going to get speeds that are based on uh reality and reality are you're not going to get 2.2 gigahertz if that's what people think and that is not right so we are at 329.3 so we're consistently staying in the 300s which is more than you can ever want on a wi-fi at this distance so we are at one complete end of the house and that router or that mesh router has been moved now to the very front window of my house so i'm in the basement very back of the house i have a very long house narrower but long and that mesh is in the front upstairs in the main window i am still getting over 300 and an upload of 30.1 the ingenius mesh ac 2200 is an absolute blast get it fat fast blast i don't know i think this product is really good for its price tag i'll leave a link down below if you're looking for something like this not always can a mesh router solve your problem in most cases a mesh router will do better than a wi-fi extender the whole thing about wi-fi extenders and i've tried many of them in the past whether it be my old boss's you know massive house or or wherever it could be that they don't they don't do their job and when they do and you get a connection it's very weak it's breakable it doesn't if you don't have internet in that area i find that it's really hard to get it on a wi-fi extender on these smart mesh routers which are really cool because like i said you can app control them you add them you can add cameras you can add everything whatever the company or the product line does the app supports it it's just a matter of saying add a new piece so that's what i wanted to get to when i added the second unit so when the app was fully set up it said would you like to add another unit i said yes it literally found the other unit and said done so all the information that programmed into the first one automatically got programmed into the second one guys that is phenomenal so adding something is that easy the key ingredient is you have to be logged into your account of course and it detects the unit and it will say hey is this the unit you wanted you click yes kind of like adding uh the wi-fi power plugs and i have those in the house as well especially in my game room for turning on the shelf lights and so on ceiling lights shelf lights tv lights all controlled by the same idea which is what you would call the mesh design so it's app controlled products that when they're detected they are locked into your unit so at that point nobody else can log into your unit unless they break your password so that unit is now your unit until the day you say you don't want it so that is very impressive and that's something i really like about this product well worth the money i am very happy i can now go outdoors have wi-fi all the way to my shed and be completely happy about it what more can i ask for guys i hope you enjoyed the review of ingenius's esr 580 this is the two pack i believe there might be some bigger ones i'm not a hundred percent uh ingenious is a very new product to me and i gotta say that uh i love testing new products for simple reason you find products that are better than anything you've tried in some cases and sometimes just find another flop in this case product was definitely solid and it's got the last game hunter stamp of approval i am liking this unit and it looks pretty sharp just up in between my wife's plants up on a shelf in front of the window in front of the house it's actually pretty cool looking so guys thank you for watching i hope i solved your blackout issues in your home and until next time thank you for
