Windows Mobile: A Customizable and Multifunctional Platform

Windows Mobile is a platform that allows users to add programs on top of it to change their experience. This is evident when using Advanced Config, which enables users to make complex changes to their phone. For instance, you can adjust settings such as screen dimming, sensitivity, input methods, keyboard defaults, GPS reception, and Bluetooth connectivity. These features provide a level of customization that other operating systems may not offer.

Advanced Config also allows for the use of styluses, which is particularly useful when navigating the touchscreen interface. The ability to change these settings can make a significant difference in the overall user experience. With Advanced Config, users have the freedom to tailor their phone to suit their needs and preferences.

Another essential program for Windows Mobile is Skyfire. Skyfire is an internet browser that loads websites on a desktop computer and then sends them to your phone, providing a close-to-desktop experience. This means you can access flash-oriented sites like YouTube, enjoy double tap-to-zoom functionality, and even play videos as if they were playing on your computer.

The Skyfire browser also offers features such as double tap-to-zoom in and out, which allows for smooth navigation and viewing of content. This level of performance is impressive, considering that the phone has a smaller screen compared to more expensive models like the Touch Pro 2. With its robust capabilities, Skyfire provides an excellent alternative to traditional mobile browsers.

Multitasking on Windows Mobile: Efficient and Convenient

One of the standout features of Windows Mobile is multitasking. This allows users to run multiple programs simultaneously without sacrificing performance or causing a crash. To demonstrate this, let's consider the example of Contacts. Suppose you want to view Greg's information while also accessing Google Maps. By using the home button, you can switch between these apps seamlessly.

The home button serves as a key component in multitasking on Windows Mobile. It allows users to quickly switch between open applications, close unnecessary ones, or even restart a program from within its own interface. This feature is especially useful when working with multiple programs at once or navigating through menus and sub-menus.

Another important aspect of multitasking on Windows Mobile is the ability to adjust individual app settings without affecting other running apps. For instance, if you want to close the Wikipedia app but keep Facebook open, you can use the menu to do so individually. This level of control ensures that users can work efficiently with multiple applications simultaneously.

The phone's performance also plays a significant role in multitasking. Despite being mid-range, the device handles multiple programs without any noticeable slowdown. This is largely due to its smaller screen size and reduced pixel count compared to more expensive models.

Windows Mobile: A Great Option for Beginners

For individuals new to Windows Mobile or those who don't require a keyboard, this phone is an excellent choice. Its internal specs are comparable to the Touch Pro 2, yet it boasts a significantly smaller screen and lacks a physical keyboard. While some may prefer the compact design, others might miss having a dedicated keyboard for typing.

However, the smaller screen size has its advantages. With less pixel count, the phone's processor faces fewer demands, resulting in faster performance. This makes it an ideal option for users who value speed and responsiveness without sacrificing functionality.

The screen itself is also notable, particularly when considering the resistive touchscreen technology. In contrast to capacitive screens that can be operated with either fingers or nails, this phone allows users to utilize their entire nail tip or finger for input. While requiring slightly more pressure than capacitive screens, it still offers a precise and sensitive experience.

Overall, Windows Mobile is an excellent option for those looking for a customizable, multifunctional platform without the need for a physical keyboard. Its combination of advanced features, efficient multitasking, and performance make it an attractive choice in the market, especially considering its price point.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enforeign in general is Windows Mobile is very much a platform like Windows is on your laptop you're meant to add programs on top of it to change the experience for yourself so I've added two programs here and I'll show you what I mean first one is Advanced config now this program allows you to change down to you know the most complicated thing that you could possibly change um so it's great because Windows mobile lets you do that other other os's probably wouldn't um so you can change things and I'll use the stylus to click on these screens because they're not really optimized for a finger um but you can go to the screen you can change when it dims you can change the sensitivity of the screen change the input methods um you know which keyboard you want to be default change where the where the GPS is being received Bluetooth the hardware of the phone a lot of different stuff so that's kind of cool now another program I want to show you real quick is Sky fire Skyfire is an internet browser for Windows mobile um it's one of the few that actually plays flash for the most part um it what it does is it loads internet on a desktop computer and then sends it to your phone so you get a very close to desktop experience as you probably could um so we'll go to a flash oriented site like YouTube and I'll show you what I mean okay so you see it loads pretty quickly um and you'll see it looks just like it does on your computer again we got double tap to zoom in double tap to zoom out so let's see if we can play one of these videos real quick for you so you see it's playing just like it should play on your computer so you see it plays pretty well so that's kind of cool so again just great that you can add different applications they can do a lot and there's tons of applications for Windows mobile because it's just been around for such a long time okay so another thing I really want to show you uh really quickly is multitasking on a Windows phone or on this phone in specific um and this is where those three buttons down here home start menu and back will come in handy so for instance let's say uh you wanted to use a few different programs at once now I've loaded a bunch of them already so we'll start with one let's go to contacts okay and then if you hit X here it actually closes the program the way I have it set up so instead of doing that if I want to keep this open because say you know I'm looking at Greg's information here and I need to know you know whatever his email is or his instant messages while I go or better yet his address while I go look him up in Google Maps so instead of closing it out I can hit the home button to bring me back to my main screen and keep it running in the background now I can go to my Google Maps do what I need to do in here instead of xing out again hit the home screen again and this way Google Maps is still running you can also use this menu here to close things individually Etc but go to Wikipedia and then instead of closing it out you can hit home go to Facebook at home um go to SMS say something and then let's say I want to hit let's say I want to open a new program I can immediately go and push the Windows button to open up my start menu and then I can go to whatever I need to go to right now if I want to go back to the last program I was in because now I'm getting confused because I've been opening so many I can hit back it'll take me right back to the last program I was using so as far as multitasking goes it's pretty great so home again back to the home screen if you notice also I have a bunch of programs running and it's not really slowing down at all so there's some multitasking knowledge okay so in closing here uh this is a great little uh mid-range phone uh has the same internal specs as a much more expensive phone like the touch Pro too um with a smaller screen uh and no keyboard it's kind of the only thing you're really sacrificing there um but some people like the smaller screen because it makes the phone a whole lot smaller not to mention the smaller screen uh with the same Hardware specifications as Pro 2 means faster performance because there's less pixels and there's less stuff that the processor has to do to load screens which is great which is great um so I personally think this is a great phone for someone who's just getting into Windows mobile um or doesn't necessarily need a keyboard as well and they want to do their business some play it's good for that um another thing I like about it is the screen itself is actually really sensitive for a resistive screen I actually got a little confused because normally with a resistive screen you can't use the tip your finger you have to use your nail or the very tip of your finger because it needs pressure and it needs a pinpointed location as opposed to a capacity screen which is the exact opposite you can use your finger but you can't use your nail because it doesn't connect electricity and it won't pick it up uh we'll do that first that's another post though but with this phone I can use my finger which is a little interesting you do have to push a little bit harder than if you were using your nail um but it does work which means it's more sensitive than most because some other phones I've used with Windows mobile and resistor screen put your finger on it doesn't do anything um so that's kind of nice as well for about 200 bucks less than a Pro 2 not a bad deal so that's it for the touch too let us know what you think if you have any questions about the phone while we still have it in our hand post them in the comments we'll get right back to you thanks guys\n"
