The 2022 iPad Pros: Unveiling Apple's Latest Innovations

Welcome to Apple Insider, I'm Andrew here and we're excited to dive into the first new feature of our latest discussion - Wi-Fi 6E. The 2022 iPad Pros are the first devices from Apple to support this new version of Wi-Fi, building on its predecessors by offering a new band. Instead of just 2.4 and 5 gigahertz networks, there's now also a six gigahertz network available, which should increase performance in crowded areas like apartment buildings and cities. This should result in faster download speeds as well.

In addition to Wi-Fi 6E, the new iPad Pros also feature Apple Pencil hover support. This is a new feature for the same Apple Pencil that's been available for a number of years. Hover support allows the screen to react when the Apple Pencil is 12 millimeters away from it, making icons bigger, highlighting buttons as you go near them, or expanding a scribble field X to write into it. This is perfect for artists and note takers who need precise control over their input. Additionally, with hover support, users can see a preview of what their Apple Pencil will do and where it's going to touch before it ever makes contact with the display.

Another exciting feature of the 2022 iPad Pros is Apple's M2 Chip. The M2 is the successor to the M1 found in the prior generation iPad Pros, boasting impressive specs - a 15% faster CPU, a 40% faster neural engine, and a 35% faster GPU. This new chip also features an improved ISP (Image Signal Processor) and media engine that can transcode ProRes video three times faster than before.

Last but not least, let's talk about 5G connectivity on the new iPad Pros. Apple has expanded its support for millimeter wave bands to three different fans, allowing for faster downloads and improved performance for users who need it most. This is perfect for those who rely on their device for heavy internet use or want the fastest possible connection.
