Welcome to Another Episode of Appraisal: Snapchat Update Inside Look and First Impressions
I'm Joshua Smith from col to MAAC, and welcome to another episode of the appraisal series on my channel. Today, I'll be bringing you guys an inside look at the latest update of Snapchat, which includes instant messaging like chat and live video chat. It's one of my favorite apps, always fun snapping back and forth with my friends, and I'm excited to share my first impressions of these new features.
First up is chat - it's like instant messaging but with a Snapchat flare. When you leave the chat screen, the message from your chat disappears. The only way it will stay is if you tap and bold it otherwise, it's gone forever. It's pretty cool and works relatively well, but I did forget to save a few times, and was confused as to what I was talking about later. There's no going back; once the message is gone, it's really gone. This feature has been a great addition to Snapchat, making it easy to stay connected with my friends.
My personal favorite of these new features is live video chat. The yellow button in your chat screen turns blue when your friend has the chat open too. Just tap and hold it from there to launch a live video conversation. A bubble shows up as a viewer on your screen while your friend is in the background, drag your bubble to the bottom for a selfie, and the top to switch to your rear camera. Two great new features that have definitely elevated Snapchat.
As someone who has been a Snapchat fan for quite some time now, I have to say this update only adds to the app. Chat worked well and is a quick and easy way to get connected with my friends. While live video may not always be convenient, I found it worked well for quick little moments with my friends, and I definitely recommend updating your app and giving it a go.
Snapchat is available in app stores for all iOS, Android, and Windows devices for absolutely free, and the update is also free too. If you're interested in learning more about these new features or have any thoughts on chat or live video, feel free to comment or tweet at us.
