The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Series: A Comprehensive Guide
As we approach the end of the official unpacked event, it's clear that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is going to be one of the most highly anticipated smartphones of the year. With just over a week left until its release, we've seen a plethora of leaks and rumors that have left fans eager to know what to expect from this upcoming flagship device.
In this article, we'll delve into all the details surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series, including its two variants: the standard Note 20 and the ultra-premium Note 20 Ultra. We'll also explore its displays, cameras, processors, and more, giving you a comprehensive understanding of what to expect from these highly anticipated devices.
The Displays: A Key Differentiator
One of the most notable aspects of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is its displays. From the front, the Note 20 series will bear a striking resemblance to the Note 10 series, with squared-off edges, small top and bottom bezels, and a punch-out in the center. The punch-out, which is slightly smaller than before, is designed to provide a more immersive viewing experience.
However, when it comes to the actual display itself, there's a significant difference between the two models. The Note 20 Ultra boasts an incredible Quad HD+ resolution, giving it a high pixel density and a stunning visual experience. This is paired with a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, which allows for seamless and power-efficient switching between different refresh rates. In essence, this means that you'll be able to enjoy full Quad HD+ resolution at the same time as having a 120Hz refresh rate, something currently not available on the S 20 series.
On the other hand, the Note 20 has a full HD plus resolution, which results in a lower pixel density and a less sharp display compared to its Ultra counterpart. Additionally, it features a 60Hz refresh rate, rather than the 120Hz found on the Note 20 Ultra. However, this is offset by the fact that the Note 20 will have a flat display, whereas the Note 20 Ultra boasts a curved one. Ultimately, whether you prefer a curved or flat display comes down to personal preference.
The Curved Display Conundrum
When it comes to the curved vs flat debate, there's no denying that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra offers an unparalleled visual experience thanks to its stunning curved display. However, this also means that it may not be the best choice for everyone, as some users may find the curves too extreme or uncomfortable.
In contrast, the flat display on the Note 20 is a more subdued approach that still delivers excellent visuals without the gimmicky curve of its Ultra counterpart. While it's unlikely to impress anyone with its sheer visual prowess, it should provide an equally satisfying viewing experience for those who prefer a more traditional smartphone design.
Gorilla Glass 7: The Durability Advantage
One aspect that sets the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra apart from its standard variant is the inclusion of Gorilla Glass 7 on the front and possibly even the back. This cutting-edge material promises to be significantly more durable than previous generations, providing enhanced scratch resistance and improved overall protection.
Whether this will also apply to the back panel remains a mystery for now, but it's clear that Samsung wants to make a bold statement with its ultra-premium device. With Gorilla Glass 7, the Note 20 Ultra is poised to be one of the most durable smartphones on the market, making it an attractive choice for those who prioritize build quality.
The Build: Metal Frame with Glass Panels
The overall build of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series promises to be a masterclass in design and craftsmanship. Both variants will feature a metal frame with glass panels, which provides a solid foundation for the device's performance and durability.
However, it's worth noting that there are conflicting reports about the exact construction of the back panel on the Note 20. Some sources suggest that Samsung may have opted to use Gorilla Glass 7 exclusively on the front, while others claim that it could also be applied to the rear.
Whatever the truth may be, one thing is clear: the build quality of both variants promises to be exceptional, with a focus on durability and attention to detail. Whether you opt for the sleek, metal-framed look of the Note 20 or the ultra-premium, Gorilla Glass 7-clad package of the Ultra, you can rest assured that Samsung has set the bar high when it comes to design.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is shaping up to be one of the most exciting smartphone releases of the year. With its stunning displays, cutting-edge cameras, and ultra-premium build quality, this flagship device promises to deliver an unparalleled user experience for those who are willing to invest in the latest technology.
Whether you're drawn to the sleek, flat design of the Note 20 or the bold, curved aesthetic of the Ultra, there's no denying that Samsung has outdone itself with its latest offering. With just over a week left until launch, we can only speculate on what other surprises this event may hold – but one thing is certain: the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is sure to make waves in the world of mobile technology.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- With just over a week leftof the official unpacked event,we pretty much already know everythingthere is to know about theSamsung Galaxy Note 20 series. What's up guys, Saf here on SuperSaf TV.There have been so manynew leaks and rumors, and, as always, we're going to put themall together here in oneplace, SuperSaf style,so you guys know exactly what to expect. So a lot of you guys may already knowthat there will be two variantsof the Samsung Galaxy Note 20.The Note 20, as well as the Note 20 Ultra. The Ultra is of course goingto be the flagship version, with all of the bells and whistles, and the Note 20 is going tohave a lot of the featuresof the Note 20 Ultra, but a little bit more toned down, and coming in at a cheaper price. So let's start off with the displays. From the front any way, the Note 20 Seriesis going to look very similarto the Note 10 series. So we're going to have squared off edges, small top and bottom bezels, with a punch out in the center. This punch out is goingto be slightly smaller, and the bezels are alsogoing to be slightly smaller, giving us a slightly largerscreen to body ratio.A 6.9 inch display on the Note 20 Ultra,on the Note 20, we willhave a 6.7 inch display. Now, although both displayswill have AMOLED technology, they are going to be very different. The Note 20 Ultra, Quad HD+ resolution, giving you a high pixel density,as well as a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate. What does that mean?Well, it's going to beable to dynamically switchbetween different refresh rates, and that's going to makeit more power efficient. It may also mean that we'll be able to getfull Quad HD+ resolutionwith 120Hz, at the same time, something that's currentlynot here, on the S 20 series. Now the Note 20 is going tohave a full HD plus resolution,so it's going to havea lower pixel density, not as sharp as the Note 20 Ultra, and it's also going tohave a 60Hz refresh rate, not 120Hz like the Note 20 Ultra. So it's not going to havethat smooth experiencethat you'll be gettingon the flagship model, but in addition to that,it's also going to have a flat display, compared to the curveddisplay on the Note 20 Ultra.Curved versus flat really comes downto your personal preference, but the Note 20 Ultra, clearlythe superior overall display. The Note 20 Ultra is also rumored to bethe world's first smartphoneto have Gorilla Glass 7,which is going to be more durable, compared to previous generations.Whether this is justgoing to be on the front,or also on the back, isstill a question mark. And moving on to the overall build,we're going to have the metal framewith glass panels, as we know. For the Note 20, although we are likelyto have a metal frame, there are lots of rumorsthat the back is going to bewhat Samsung called \"glasstic\",that is essentially plasticmade to look like glass. And if this is the case, then the Note 20,is not going to be aspremium as the Note 20 Ultra, and it's also not going tobe as resistant to scratches. It may however mean that the Note 20is going to be coming inat a much lower price, compared to the Note 20 Ultra. Both devices are rumored to beIP68 Water & Dust resistant. For colors, we are going tohave some different colors. The Note 20 is going tobe coming in a bronze,a gray, as well as a green. And the Note 20 Ultra,is going to be comingonce again in thatbronze, but also a black, and we've just seen today,a white version too.Now all of these are going to be calledMystic something or another, but I don't want to keep saying Mystic. Now the white version may justbe for particular markets, but personally speaking,I am really digging the bronze color. It looks very slick. It's also likely to havea matte frosted finish, rather than a glossy finish, which should look really, really good. Now the Note 20 Ultra is of coursegoing to be larger overall,in terms of dimensions. It's going to weigh a little bit more, compared to the regular Note 20.And with the design on the back, you can see that bothdevices are followingSamsung's rectangular camera module theme, which they've had on most oftheir smartphones this year. The Note 20 Ultra does appear to havequite a large camera bump, and that is of course, because of the improved cameras. Now let's talk about thecameras, because the camerasare going to be differenton both of these. So starting off with the Note 20 Ultra, you can see three camera modules,as well as a laser auto focus sensor. The primary camera will be a 108MP camera, with a large sensor size, andoptical image stabilization, similar to what we had on the S 20 Ultra, but this has been revised, and we do have that laser auto focus, which should improve auto focus massively. You guys may have seen myself,as well as many others, talk about the auto focus issuesthat were primarily thereon the S 20 Ultra series. So this should now befixed on the Note 20 Ultra.Great to see Samsung takethat feedback on board, and bring us these improvements. The secondary camera willbe a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Now this is down from the 16MPthat we had on the S 20 Ultra. And I'm kind of glad, because I did preferthe 12MP ultra-widecamera on the Note 10+,which was a last year smartphone, compared to this year's S 20 Ultra. And finally, there is going to be a 12MPPeriscope Zoom camera, which is going to give 5x Optical Zoom, and up to 50x Digital Zoom, which Samsung called Space Zoom.So thankfully we no longer have 100X zoom, plastered all over the camera, like we had on the S 20 Ultra.Something that, youknow, we all fed back on.Pictures at 100X digitalzoom are just not good, and they are not usable. And it's great once again to see Samsunghas taken that feedback on board, and we should be gettingpretty good results at 50X.I still wouldn't put myhopes up in this area, but generally speaking, they should be givingyou some decent results. Now for the regular Note 20,we kind of have a similarsetup to what we hadon the S 20 Plus, as well as the S 20.So we've got a primary12 megapixel camera, with optical image stabilization, larger sensor size, compared to last year,a 12MP ultra-wide camera, similar to what we'vegot on the Note 20 Ultra,as well as a 12MP Telescope Zoom camera, which is going to give youup to 3x Optical zoom, andup to 30x Digital zoom. For video, we are looking at8K up to 24 frames a second, something that wasintroduced in the S 20 line, and 10MP for the selfiefront-facing cameras. Now the next part isgoing to be controversial, and that is because we'llbe talking about performanceof the Note 20 Series. And unfortunately it is looking likethey will be powered bythe Exynos 990 seriesin regions such as the UK and Europe, and we will be gettinga Qualcomm Snapdragonversion in other regions. Now you've probablyheard me talk about thismany times before, as well as many others, the Exynos chip sets arejust not on the same levelas the Qualcomm chip sets.So we've seen the performance differenceson the S 20 series, but what's even morecontroversial this time aroundis that the Note 20 Ultra is rumoredto be potentially have the newerQualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chip set, which is 10% more powerful, compared to the 865,and it's also 10% more power efficient. Now considering thatthe 865 regular editionis already superior to the 990,if you do have this difference hub,it's going to be very controversial.I really don't know what to say right now.I was hopeful that Samsungwould maybe have the Exynos 992,but it doesn't look likeit's going to be the case. But anyway, moving on, interms of RAM and storage, the Note 20 is likely to have 8GB of RAM,with 256GB of storage. The Note 20 Ultra comingwith a base of 12GB of RAM,with up to 512GB of storage. Now there may also bea 16GB of RAM version, for the Note 20 Ultra, likewe had for the S 20 Ultra, but that is still abit of a question mark. One thing that is currently rumored,is that the Note 20 Ultrawill have a microSD card slot,so you'll be able toexpand storage on there. This is something that'snot going to be available on the Note 20.It's a similar setup towhat we saw last yearbetween the Note 10 and the Note 10+,where the Note 10+ did havethat microSD card slot, and the Note 10 did not.Another piece of informationthat we've also seen,is that the Note 20 Ultra is just goingto be available in a 5G version. The Note 20 is going to be availablein 4G as well as 5G versions. So maybe in certain marketswhere 5G is not fully supported, that's where potentially a cheaper versionof the Note 20, with just4G, is going to be retailing. For software of course itis going to be Android 10,with the One UI skin on top.And for speakers, we aregoing to have stereo speakerson both devices, one in the ear piece, and one bottom firing, tuned by AKG.Of course, no 3.5 millimeter jack. This is something that'sexpected, so, you know, just come to terms with it, say goodbye. Now let's talk about what makesthe Note series unique, the S Pen.The S Pen is going to beimproved for the Note 20 series,in particular for the Note 20 Ultra, where the latency is down to 9ms,which is going to be super responsive, and it's going to give you avery smooth writing experience. The Note 20 S Pen is goingto have around 26ms latency, which is still very, very low,but just not as smoothas the Note 20 Ultra. We've also seen some informationabout an S Pen Pointer feature. How exactly this is going towork, we're not 100% sure, but what we do know is there will besupport for Wireless-DeX.This is the ability toconnect your Note 20to an external display,or a desktop environment. And this may mean that you'llbe able to use your S Penas a pointer, on an external display, which would be pretty cool.In addition to that,we have seen some rumors that Samsunghas been working veryclosely with Microsoft,to optimize the Note 20s for usewith Project xCloud, on Xbox Game Pass.So you'll be able to streamvery high quality games on the Note 20s.Now moving on to the batteries, the Note 20 is likely tohave a 4300mAh battery, and the Note 20 Ultra with alarger 4500mAh power battery, which are respectable sizes. With the Note 20 Ultra, thanks to the improved display technology, the dynamic refresh rate should give yousome good battery life.25W chargers will be included in the box,and they will give youaround 0-50% in 30 minutes, but there is also likely tobe support for a 45W charger, which will be sold separately.Of course, wireless chargingis going to be supportedas well as reverse wireless charging.Something that we've seen from Samsungover the past couple of years. Now, one thing that hasn'treally been confirmedbut was speculated, andI'm still hopeful for,is the Note 20, and the Note 20 Ultra, having support for the 3D Sonic Maxfingerprint scanner from Qualcomm. This would give you a 17 times larger areafor your fingerprint, and also allow you to use two fingerprintsat the same time, tomake things more secure. Now, not really seeing anyconfirmed reports of this as yet,I'm still very hopeful, but it may be the casethat we'll still havethe regular ultrasonicIn-Display Fingerprint Scanner,on the Note 20, on the Note 20 Ultra. Now finally moving on to price. We've not had any specificsaround pricing as yet,but if we do take the Note 10 pricing,So the Note 10 started at around $950,with the Note 10+ comingin at around $1,100.And also if we look at the S 20 series, the S 20 Ultra coming in at around $1,400.I would expect the Note 20 Ultrato be around $1200-1400.Now, for the Note 20,considering that it's got a flat display,it's potentially going tohave that glasstic back, and all of the other sort of cutbacks, then this should, should, mean that the Note 20is going to be comingin potentially cheaperthan what the Note 10 came in at.So I would predict around $800-900,again, these are just predictionsbased on what we've seen previously, and as soon as I have anyfurther information about these,I will be posting them on my Twitter. So if you are not following
