Trying New Zealand Foods and Sweets with Amanda Faye
Hello and welcome to Americans try foods and sweets from New Zealand. With my lovely wife Amanda Faye, I'm excited to share our experiences trying some unique treats sent by our amazing fans, Rein, Emma, and Alex.
We didn't agree on how we would say the names of these people, but they sent us all the goodies and we're excited to try them out. First up, let's try Marmite, hopefully, the right way. We've had some mishaps in the past with Vegemite, like that time I tried it incorrectly to get a laugh. And, come on guys, you don't eat Vegemite like that! Amanda knows what she's talking about.
Marmite is definitely an acquired taste, and we're excited to try it with toast and butter. The smell is... intense. It's not unlike Nutella, but it's not the same at all. When we take a bite, the flavors explode in our mouths, and it's overwhelming, but also kind of good? It's salty, but not too much, and Amanda seems to enjoy it.
Next up, let's try Jaffas, the original Cadbury treat from New Zealand. These look like M&M's, but with a thinner orange candy coating. When we open the bag, the first thing we notice is how hard the coating is compared to regular chocolate-covered candies. We take a bite and find it's actually quite good. The texture of the outside adds a nice dimension to the flavor.
Amanda gives the Jaffa her thumbs up, and I have to agree. It's a great combination of flavors and textures. Now, let's move on to Choco-ade, which sounds like lemonade with chocolate. No, wait, that's not it at all! This is actually a biscuit with an orange-flavored filling in a chocolate top.
We take a bite of the biscuit, and we're surprised by how good it tastes. The outside pastry part is our least favorite, but the inside is a nice surprise. There's an orange jelly center that adds a lot to the flavor. It's really good!
Next up, we have a peanut slab milk chocolate bar. What's in this? Milk chocolate, cocoa solid, traces of tree nuts... not great for us, unfortunately. Amanda knows she can't eat peanuts, so we'll just enjoy this one without her.
We take a bite and find it's actually really good. The combination of the creamy milk chocolate and the nutty flavor is perfect. It's a great treat that we wouldn't mind eating again.
Mackintosh's Toffee De Luxe is next on our list. This is a classic Kiwi treat that has been enjoyed for generations. We take a bite, and it explodes in our mouths with its creamy, sweet flavor. We both agree that this is really good, but what we love most about it is how sucking it makes you feel.
It's a weird thing to say, but I really like Mackintosh's Toffee De Luxe. It's one of those treats that makes you want to put more in your mouth at once. And Amanda agrees! We give it two thumbs up, even though it's not the chewiest candy out there.
Mackintosh's Toffee De Luxe is definitely a treat worth trying. If you haven't had it before, now's the time!
Our next stop is Marmite again. This time, we're trying it with just butter and bread. We take a bite, and... well, it's still intense. But in a good way? Amanda says so! She loves the salty flavor of Marmite.
We both agree that trying new foods and sweets can be intimidating, but also exciting. It's great to try something that you've never had before and discover that you like it. We'll definitely be trying more Kiwi treats in the future!
That's all for today's video. Thanks to Rein, Emma, and Alex for sending us these delicious treats from New Zealand. Don't forget to give them a thumbs up if you enjoy this video, and check out Amanda's channel for more food reviews and adventures!
