SanDisk Dual USB Drive with built in USB OTG Review

The HyperX Thumb Drive: A Compact and Convenient Storage Solution

When it comes to portable storage devices, there are many options available on the market. One such device that caught our attention is the HyperX Thumb Drive, a compact USB 2 drive designed for everyday use. In this article, we will take a closer look at this device and explore its features, performance, and compatibility.

Physical Characteristics

------------------------

The HyperX Thumb Drive is an extremely small device, measuring just 4.7 cm in length, which makes it easy to carry around in a pocket or purse. Despite its compact size, the drive has two distinct ends that allow for multiple connection options. One end features a standard USB 2 port, while the other end has a microUSB port, making it compatible with both computers and Android devices.

Using the Drive

-----------------

To use the HyperX Thumb Drive, simply slide open the USB 2 port on one end of the device to connect it to your computer. Alternatively, you can directly connect it to your Android phone via the microUSB port, using a USB OTG cable (not included in the package). This feature is particularly convenient for users who need to transfer files between their devices.

The drive also comes with a protective cover that can be secured in place to prevent accidental damage. This compact design and user-friendly interface make it an attractive option for anyone looking for a portable storage solution.

Performance

------------

We put the HyperX Thumb Drive through various tests to evaluate its performance. The drive was pre-formatted into FAT32 format, which allowed us to copy a 1GB file in approximately 2 minutes. While this may not be lightning-fast, it's still respectable considering the device's compact size and price point.

Benchmarking results showed that the drive achieved write speeds of around 6.5-7 MB/s, while read speeds reached up to 16-17 MB/s. These numbers are decent, but not exceptional, indicating that the drive may not be ideal for heavy data transfer or applications requiring extremely fast speeds.

Compatibility with Android Devices

-----------------------------------

One of the standout features of the HyperX Thumb Drive is its compatibility with Android devices equipped with USB OTG support. We tested the device on an HTC One M8, which has this feature built-in, and it worked seamlessly. The drive was automatically detected by the phone's operating system, and we were able to access its contents using a third-party app called Nexus Media Manager.

We also tried the drive on a Nexus 5, which does not support USB OTG out of the box, but can be enabled through a third-party app. In this case, we had to use Nexus Media Manager to mount the drive and access its contents. However, with the right software and configuration, even this device was able to recognize and utilize the HyperX Thumb Drive.

Conclusion

----------

The HyperX Thumb Drive is an excellent option for anyone looking for a compact and convenient portable storage solution. Its compact design, user-friendly interface, and compatibility with both computers and Android devices make it an attractive choice for everyday users. While its performance may not be exceptional, the drive's value lies in its portability, ease of use, and affordability.

Overall, we give this device a thumbs up, especially considering its price point and compact form factor. If you're looking for a reliable and convenient storage solution that won't weigh you down, the HyperX Thumb Drive is definitely worth considering.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey there this is Ranjit and in this video we'll be doing the unboxing and review for the sandesh dual USB Drive and the unique thing about this Drive is that it has a built-in USB OTG support so this is the packaging and before I open this up and show it to you and let's see what's written I have the sixteen gate model we also get this drive and 32 and 64 gigs and it says that it's compatible with many Android devices you got to make sure your Android device supports usb OTG and it actually has to puts one is a standard USB port so that you can directly connect it to your computer and other is the micro USB port which is found on most Android devices so if your Android smartphone or tablet does support USB OTG you can connect it and here are some more specs and it also gives us this link I'll have that on the screen which is Santa's comm / dual drive and you can go to this page and see if your Android device supports usb OTG many of the high-end Android phones do support and regarding the pricing this is the 16gb model that we have and the price quoted here is rupees 1132 but I did purchase this one from Flipkart for just 419 and rule pieces I'll have the link for flip card in the show notes so and it also says that it's compatible with Windows XP Windows Vista Windows 7 Windows 8 and Mac over 6 regarding the computer part again do note that this is a USB 2 drive not a USB 3 - so let me just open this up and let me show you the drive itself drive itself and as you can see it's pretty tiny actually very small compared to even normal USB thumb drives very small and you now have this hyper X thumb drive and as you can see it's pretty small and we actually have two things let me just show you that now one end we can open this up and we just need to slide this like this and this opens the USB 2 port using which you can connect it to your computer and and if you just hit this and go this way this is the microUSB port using which you can directly connect it to your Android phone if it's suppose USB OTG you just like this like this and this pushes so pretty convenient we have these covers like this and we can secure it like this so it's a pretty tiny device so let me now connect it to the computer transfer some files do some speed test and see how fast is the stripe and later on we'll test it with an Android device regarding the USB OTG support the drive is pre formatted into fat32 format and I did some tests and I could copy a 1 GB file in around 1 minute 58 seconds or so so the write speeds were not that impressive and I did some benchmarking so here are the results and in terms of write speeds I was getting around six point five to seven Meg and read were around 16 to 17 megabytes so these are not bad but I expected slightly better results so you can copy around 1gb of file in around 2 minutes or so now let's just connect this to our Android device this is HTC One m8 which has USB OTG support and I'll just connect it via this micro USB and the thing is we I'll unlock my device and I just insert it and it should be connected in a few seconds and it says preparing USB storage and it is connected now we can access the files that I have copied from my computer that are on the strife and directly on a smart phone and for that I'll use ES File Explorer and as you can see this is my USB storage that is our 16gb it detected that and these are all the files on the USB storage so let's play back a few of them for example let's play back this file and as you can see it plays it without any issues this is a very high bitrate 1080p video I will try one more let's try this one again as you can see no issues playing back 10 HP content or something like that directly from this drive so you can use this for playing back movies etc and as you can see again this is again a 1080p 5 so no issues so it works perfectly fine as a USB OTG Drive again you do get USB OTG cables like this I was earlier using something like this and you can attach the normal pendrive to these USB OTG cables but it's a very clunky solution I would say this is more of a very elegant solution now let me also try it on one more device so let me take this out and I'll use this Nexus 5 the Nexus 5 has USB OTG support but the thing is that by default it does not mount the files so you have to use a third party app called Nexus media manager and I have that installed and you'll see that it automatically fires up and detects our drive and here are the contents of the drive from example I selected the videos for example I don't have any photos so these are the videos and we'll play back those files now again let's try this one and this will also work on the Moto X again you have to use this nexus media input earth also do remember that this nexus media input is not needed by many third-party devices so just check up with your Android phone manufacturer if see USB OTG functionalities is provided out of the box so it even works with Nexus 5 and the Moto X so this is the SanDisk duo drive and I would say it's an interesting solution if you do carry a lot of media on the go and I would say it does not bring any revolutionary features my personally I feel it does provide a lot of comedic if you do use the USB OTG functionality a lot the only con I see is the right speech could have been a lot better so if you copy a lot of data it might take some time but overall I would say considering the price to performance ratio and the compact form factor I give this product a thumbs up also don't forget to check out some of my other videos and if you're not subscribed to my youtube channel hit that subscribe button thank you this is ranjit and i hope to see you in my next videohey there this is Ranjit and in
