Samsung Galaxy S9 First Impressions - Worth Buying _ The Tech Chap

**Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ Review**

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ have been announced, bringing several improvements over their predecessors. The phones come with 5.8 and 6.2 inch quad HD plus screens, respectively, which provide a high level of display quality. However, some may notice that the bezels are slightly smaller than before.

In terms of hardware, the S9 and S9+ feature a new processor, although Samsung hasn't revealed the exact specifications. They come with Gigabit LTE connectivity, IP68 water and dust resistance, fast charging, and wireless charging capabilities. Additionally, they retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a notable feature.

When it comes to camera capabilities, the S9 and S9+ have been significantly improved. The variable aperture now allows for both F1.5 and F2.4 settings, with the former allowing 28% more light to enter the lens. This results in less noise and potentially brighter photos. Although I've only had a short time with the S9, it seems like a big step up compared to the S8.

The low-light photography capabilities of the S9 have also been praised, even when compared to other top-notch cameras such as the Pixel 2. However, I'll reserve my final judgment until my full review.

Furthermore, the S9 and S9+ offer impressive slow-motion capabilities. The phones can record up to 960fps, which is suitable for capturing stunning water balloon videos or other fast-paced scenes. They also feature a unique "our emoji" feature, which creates a 3D model of the user's face from a 2D photo.

The speaker quality has also been significantly improved, with stereo AKG-tuned speakers providing better sound output than their predecessors. Additionally, the phones now allow for use of the entire device horizontally, similar to the iPhone Plus models, catering to users who prefer to watch videos or browse content in landscape mode.

**Comparing the S9 and S9+**

One notable difference between the two devices is the screen size and RAM. The S9 has a 5.8 inch screen with 4GB of RAM, while the S9+ features a larger 6.2 inch screen with 6GB of RAM. Although I personally prefer the larger screen size, there are benefits to going for the smaller device. Overall, both phones offer excellent specifications and features, but if you want more power and a bigger battery, the S9+ is likely the better choice.

**Conclusion**

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ represent significant upgrades over their predecessors, offering improved cameras, enhanced display quality, and better speaker capabilities. While some features may seem minor at first glance, they collectively contribute to an overall premium user experience. I'm excited to provide a full review of these devices in the coming days, so stay tuned for more information on these impressive smartphones.

We want to hear from you! Which phone do you think looks better: the Galaxy S9+ or the iPhone 10? Cast your vote above and let us know what you think.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey guys i'm tom the tech chap and i've got this the brand new samsung galaxy s 9 well this is the s9 + actually and to be truthful you probably already know most of what there is to know about the new phones because it was really really heavily leaked but i want to run you through everything that's new give you a bit of a hands-on first impression and basically see if is much of an upgrade we've still got that beautiful infinity edge display and some some say the bezels are a little bit smaller they have shrunk the bezels a little bit although they wouldn't say exactly by how much but clearly versus the s8 it's not a lot they still come with 5.8 and 6.2 inch quad HD plus screens there's also no grinning processor now with the snapdragon 845 or somethings latest x-naught chip based on where you live they come running the latest android 8 or EO software along with Samsung's experienced UI on top we've also got Gigabit LTE ip68 water and dust resistance fast charging and fast wireless charging and of course it also retains the three-and-a-half millimeter headphone jack but which one do you think looks better Galaxy S 9 + or iPhone 10 click at the poll at the top right to let me know what you think although personally and another can definitely let me know what you think so while on the face of it that may not appear to be a whole lot new here there are a few areas that the S line really improves upon and one of those is the camera which now has a variable aperture which means we get both F 1.5 and F 2.4 and the phone can auto adjust based on the lighting conditions around you so when it uses the F 1.5 aperture that means this phone lets in 28 percent more light than the s 8 did which means you'll get much less noise and also hopefully much brighter photos I've only had a lot about time with the s 9 so I can't really say for sure how much better it is although from my experience in this little hands-on demo area it does seem like a big step up versus the SI and they were even comparing the low-light photography of the S line to the pixel 2 which I actually use as my main phone and in my opinion has the best camera and those photos did show the s 9 coming out on top versus pixel 2 but I will withhold judgement until my full review so super low light and also super slow-motion the s 9 can shoot up to 960 fps slow-mo if you fancy stunning some water balloons like they were doing here it looks incredible and unlike some other super-slow-motion phones which is actually really tricky to nail the slow motion because it's obviously so so fast you have to hit the button the shutter button exactly right time you can set a certain area within the scene on the s9s camera as soon as it detects motion it captures it and that way hopefully you never miss that awesome cat jumping thing or water balloon splashing whatever it is you want film is limo we've also now got something called a our emoji which is very very similar to apples and emoji basically the front camera takes a 2d picture of you and then creates a 3d model 3d render which you can customize to however you like and that will be them be an emoji you can use when you send messages to people but unlike apples and emojis which have to be used between iPhones these Samsung AR emojis kameez with any phone so it's easily shareable they've also really upped their game in terms of speaker quality the s9 and s9 plus both come with stereo AKG tuned speakers with Dolby Atmos support a lot going on there but essentially you've got a speaker on the bottom one in the earpiece and they say it's up to I believe one point four times louder than the s8 so a little bit louder hopefully a lot clearer another quite cool feature is now you can use the entire phone horizontally a bit like the iPhone plus models because basically Samson think more and more people use their phones like this from watching TV or movies so now you can use the whole phone in landscape between the s9 and the s9 plus I think personally I would pay a little bit more and go for the plus model because not only does it have a bigger screen which still feels great in the hand thanks that super thin bezel but it's got more RAM six gigabytes it's got a bigger battery thirty five hundred million power and also it's got that dual camera setup on the back it's got the same 12 megapixel variable aperture as the main s9 but also that second 12 megapixel telephoto lens so you get a two times optical zoom which is basically just like the Galaxy Note 8 from last year but overall these are really nice phones I can't wait to give them a full test for my upcoming review so stay tuned for that let me know what you make of the S line in the comments below don't forget to Like and
