**A PC Build Review: A Look at the Asrock Phantom Gaming Motherboard**
Something smells burning, and I think it's my fiery passion for this PC build or the boiler snake - bad news! I think I accidentally murdered the NZXT motherboard. Oh no, front panel that's what that connector is for, host! It's alive! Yeah, now to be sure, there's nothing wrong with the Asrock motherboard in fact, that's the motherboard that we hit 5 gigahertz on - the 99 hard KS I'm using a Phantom Gaming motherboard now from Asrock, which has three NICs, three LAN connections, and one of them is two and a half gig which I really like. So this motherboard has some features that the NZXT motherboard doesn't have, but all in all it's still pretty good.
Built it first off, my color scheme is a little bit too, but you know what? It's ok, it's good enough for this build. We have post all right now, you need to do some testing - I'm doing the end codes for benchmarking encoder tests for AMD's encoder and videos encoder, and Intel's QuickSync encoder, which most people don't know exists well but the decode also still uses HONEST. Yeah, because these are in order to get the accurate like comparison. These are ProRes files for a few files and so on.
The CPU was ramped it up to like 70% usage just the potential ii just to play back the file now was playing it back at three times speed, which was impressive. So that's you know 180 FPS that it's playing it back at but yeah yes QuickSync so it's using the high GPU, super super super high CPU performance with this setup and of course, it's also whisper quiet now. The thing that was surprising for me is because there was a 280 millimeter cooler we used for an initial build not from NZXT, and you can hear it when you first turn on the machine so right kind of interesting stuff.
What about the LCD? I wasn't solo LC - I don't I would have a hard time truly arguing that it's worth a hundred dollars because you can get some all and once for $400. You can get the X 73 which is gonna perform identically, no LCD but it's really cool like I was just like yeah it's just gonna be like a little thing like some of the motherboards have them now - it's if you're gonna get it you're gonna love it. I don't know that I could convince you to get it but it's really friggin cool well we can feed through cam I mean it's it's a full LCD screen so you could go nuts.
I'd really like to see Linux drivers now as with a lot of this stuff so that's been a quick look.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI said I wanted some PC I wanted to build a computer and then I blacked out for a second and I woke up here I don't really know what's happening hey guess what we're gonna build a new machine yeah that's it in Zed telephone XT I'll fill up the NZXT power supply and the tower case the all NZXT 5 gigahertz build so we this is the bill that we use from last time we're recycling this this has got a 9900 KS in it now so we can do 5 gigahertz we've got three fans in the front you can you can see this but we're gonna put this in the top which is weird because like normally you put a radiator in the top and you don't want the air to go at right angles because it's gonna need more pressure and it's gonna be louder blah blah but I had the x70 too it's a 280 millimeter we both did Andre dripper so dripper you know the third generation the seven nanometer it's it doesn't make a lot of heat but the part that gets hot is super small the surface area is super small so you need a good cooler even though they're not there they're like a furnace but they're not like a furnace they're like the tiny furnace little tiny just like like a cigarette lighter yeah I guess and this the 900 KS it's like 1/4 of the size yeah and it's it gets hot over a larger area so I'm hoping that we can have a reasonably quiet machine based on this and we're gonna NZXT power supply for this as well so it sounds like it's gonna be pretty good exciting times all right let's get the computer out of the way unpacked cool this is the Z 73 the big upgrade here is an LCD screen like it literally will show you the temperature or whatever you want just this picture this picture is not misleading actual LCD screens or LED string it would be pretty cool so the LED rail its LCD LCD NZXT cam data mr. Kent 800 mr. data's back in the air I forgot about that I haven't seen it is he oh that let it start it started yeah okay I've not seen it yet either now the LCD screen built into the pump that's a little bit of a gimmick surely nothing would convince me to pay the extra hundred okay that's it I'm ordering two more of these yeah you can upload your own gifs in addition to any kind of other statistical information CPU load GP load if your GPU supported so pro tip I love putting radiators in the top of the case did you think about it you put the radiator in the front of the case and it's gonna bring cold air in from the outside with in the air inside the case is gonna be warmer but if you put it in the top it's gonna take the slightly warmed case air and exhausted at the top that seems better to me 280 millimeters in the top of most cases not a good idea but 360s usually work better while that came right off I will say I can speak from experience especially as in take that 280 in the top No well one warning that I'll give you is if you're gonna use this for thread Ripper I had two of these now well not the 73 bit of 72 that's not enough thermal paste for thread Ripper you had the same experience yeah you would the pre-installed thermal place just wipe it off and start over if you're gonna use this with Red River or Intel it's fine though yeah Fred for for our bill that we're doing here totally ok yeah look at that fan density I like I like the appended speak I will say firm experience 280 in the top has an intake if you have it under a table or a desk a real bad time because you have your exhaust running right up into a loop into your intake and it just hot boxes itself don't do it as an exhaust that's probably fine now I make a lot of cooling mistakes just so you don't have to we're gonna find out today we're not gonna need an for that's screws for the fans I knew you'd turn back to Team Blue I'm not picking sides or just doing though these are the standoffs I think we'll need and back plate yeah now if you were gonna go so this is this is the a m4 bracket remember if you the thread refers to bracket four it is gonna be in the box and it'll just clip right onto this this is a you know new hardware so this is removable on the NZXT cape there's a lot of little details like that on the NZXT case which I really like so now that now the age-old question radiator on top fans on the bottom or radiator on the bottom fans on top is there a filter no its exhaust so oh yeah it is exhaust fan yeah I know I could go either way I'm thinking fans on the bottom radiator on top okay the only reason I'm thinking that is because I'm completely arbitrarily imagining the model in my brain to have the air having an easier time making the right angle exit with the radiator versus the fans which is taller under the same height yep basically yeah the fans are not quite the same height but I think that well the actual if the fins are lower it would be lower so be quieter with radiator on top yeah that's true too if that matters well with radiator on top if I ever want to run it without the top on it BNZ the white top yeah I could do that as well and then that would be really good cooling cuz the air doesn't have to make a right angle to exit yeah it's like we're putting a lot of thought into something that ultimately the laws of thermodynamics say don't matter so small confession this is the first time I've ever used NZXT hardware it's actually pretty I've been pretty pretty impressed I keep seeing this case in other videos and I really like it so and I like the rubber grommets inside these fans here already so we're off to a good start trying to figure out which way I want the UH the fan wires to go I think it's that way see pre-planning for your computer builds really smart he spent you know five seconds looking at that I don't even get mad that the fan that the Dwyers are facing the wrong way in before actually I'm not visualizing it correctly and it's backwards and I think that's why I gave up on it because I can't do it also a pro tip don't actually secure the fans all the way down so they can slide the little metal bits presumably NZXT has done a lot of building in their own cases so like all these little details will just be better at least you can't puncture the radiator with the screws anymore not an NZXT NZXT specific problem but that was my first day I often experience I've screwed it all the way through the radiator what Oh suddenly it's wet yeah look at you tying all the fan cables together this is probably gonna gonna be like a regret thing there's only one twist okay so that's what we're working with what don't secure the screws office what happened on today's episode of this old two idiots how many tech tubers does it take to install an air cold water cooler got like a nice going on so much nicer than having to try to screw it upside down I guess what I did wrong is a backwards it is completely backwards yeah again at least you called it I guess yeah yep on today's episode of two idiots so the other pro tip is to get a silver sharpie put it in and then make a little dot as to which side things go on and then you don't you don't have to have good brain special quick acuity it's perfectly backwards in every way also I blame my left handedness you just see the world backwards yeah I mean there's probably enough room to mount the radiator in the bottom and then have another set of fans here but sandwich really yeah we'll try it we'll see how it goes everyone's favorite fan the CPU backplate so I could give her a head 180 degrees and it'll be fine but if you rotated 90 degrees that will be wrong now would there have been room to mount everything below the motherboard just barely oh yeah no because of the CPU power aha so with the work where the CPU power goes in here I don't think there will be enough room to clear the motherboard and also all the connectors that are the top edge of the motherboard it's a no-go I think it's a no-go to mount the radiator and the fans blow it now you've got all cons room in the front now but what we ran I do in the front No so now now the moment of truth is we just pop this little do that off make sure that our thermal paste isn't ruined their little bracket thingy is in place properly basically this is pretty this part is pretty painless just line up the pegs it's booting NCIC 23 degrees wow that is actually pretty cool oh you have VGA is not gonna work in video I and their build with nice team group memory Oh postcode 55 cuz it's on the back LED thingy I'm just gonna hit clear CMOS because it's a new CPU whoa something smells burning umm it's your fiery passion for this PC build or the boiler snake so bad news I think I accidentally murdered the NZXT motherboard oh no front no front panel that's what that connector is host it's alive yeah now to be sure there's nothing wrong with these are the max quality ProRes for for for you know be few files and so the cpu was ramped it up to like seventy eighty ninety percent usage just the potential ii just to play back the file now was playing it back at three times speed which was impressive so that's you know 180 FPS that it's playing it back at but yeah yes quick sink so it's using the high GPU so super super super high in cpu 911 third k cpu in our set up five gigahertz max and 5 gigahertz all for maximum liquid temperature 35 35 degrees right that's a celsius yeah you body temperatures 1391 so we're not doing too bad it's the liquid temperature we're not doing too bad there in terms of CPU performance with this with this set up and of course it's also a whisper quiet now the thing that was surprising for me because there was a 280 millimeter coolers we used for an initial build not from NZXT and you the fans are definitely ramped up and these fans will ramp up cuz you can hear it when you first turn on the it's something that we did pep catch but as it was just yeah we've used it on the test bridge and so it's like oh it's hiss by seven ninety seven hundred go back and retest the eight or eighty six okay let's test the 8700 k so there's probably been 10 different CPUs in and out of that motherboard and we just we run it but I'm really happy with how that bill turned out and it looks pretty cool like the black one quite a steady mhm I mean I get it I I'm coming around on these cases to the case was pretty nice and it's got a nice you know a lot of open space I'm digging it you know NZXT asked me what color I wanted when they when they were gonna send it I was like NZXT purple they're like that's that's not a thing it's not a thing why not I would you it needs to be a thing all right well that's nothing rambling from us I'm Windell I'm a Bulls ox where could I find you youtube.com slash evil socks everywhere else /e postbox PP OS vo x responsible for that remember to put away please I will see you run doom on this oh man that's an idea we should do that next video I promise the slightly larger we will have somebody dedicated full-time to just run do them on every device that we get only need to be a little bit larger for that level two Tech'sI said I wanted some PC I wanted to build a computer and then I blacked out for a second and I woke up here I don't really know what's happening hey guess what we're gonna build a new machine yeah that's it in Zed telephone XT I'll fill up the NZXT power supply and the tower case the all NZXT 5 gigahertz build so we this is the bill that we use from last time we're recycling this this has got a 9900 KS in it now so we can do 5 gigahertz we've got three fans in the front you can you can see this but we're gonna put this in the top which is weird because like normally you put a radiator in the top and you don't want the air to go at right angles because it's gonna need more pressure and it's gonna be louder blah blah but I had the x70 too it's a 280 millimeter we both did Andre dripper so dripper you know the third generation the seven nanometer it's it doesn't make a lot of heat but the part that gets hot is super small the surface area is super small so you need a good cooler even though they're not there they're like a furnace but they're not like a furnace they're like the tiny furnace little tiny just like like a cigarette lighter yeah I guess and this the 900 KS it's like 1/4 of the size yeah and it's it gets hot over a larger area so I'm hoping that we can have a reasonably quiet machine based on this and we're gonna NZXT power supply for this as well so it sounds like it's gonna be pretty good exciting times all right let's get the computer out of the way unpacked cool this is the Z 73 the big upgrade here is an LCD screen like it literally will show you the temperature or whatever you want just this picture this picture is not misleading actual LCD screens or LED string it would be pretty cool so
