**A Personal Bookshelf: A Time Capsule of Memories and Treasures**
I've had this book since middle school, and it's a testament to its enduring power that I still cherish it today. The reason why it's so damaged is because I've lent it out to numerous people throughout my life, determined to share its magic with as many others as possible. Each time I've given the book away, I've made it clear that if they lost it, I'd never forgive them – a promise I've kept by always getting the book back when I return it. Over time, the wear and tear has taken its toll, but to me, that's only added to its charm.
**The Damage of Love: A Bookshelf's Special Place**
This particular book is one of my most treasured possessions. It's a reminder of the countless hours I've spent lost in its pages, and the friends I've made along the way. When I take off the dust jacket, it's as if I'm revealing a piece of myself – a testament to the deep affection I have for this book. Its damage is a badge of honor, proof that it's been loved and cared for over the years.
**A Life of Reading: Dyslexia and Book Selection**
As a dyslexic reader, I've learned to appreciate books that are free from errors in spelling or grammar. While I may not be suited for a career as an editor, my love for reading has led me down a different path – one filled with joy, discovery, and occasionally, frustration. Despite this, I've always been drawn to beautiful books, and the eye-catching spines that catch my attention are often my first point of interest when browsing through my shelves.
**The Ugliest Spine on My Shelf: A Matter of Taste**
Among my bookshelves, one title stands out as a bit of an oddity – Robert Jordan's "The Eye of the World". I know some readers might find it dull or uninspiring, but for me, its understated design only adds to its charm. As I look at my shelves, I see a collection of books that are all unique in their own way, each with its own story to tell and secrets waiting to be uncovered.
**Tallest Book on My Shelf: A Giant among the Rest**
When it comes to sheer size, one book towers above the rest – Brandon Sanderson's "Oathbringer" and "Rhythm of War". These massive hardbacks are a testament to the author's skill in crafting epic stories that span pages upon pages. While they may dominate my shelves, I wouldn't say they're out of place – for me, their size is a badge of honor, a reminder of the adventures and worlds they contain.
**The Most Prized Book on My Shelf: A Gift from Above**
Among all the books on my shelf, there's one that stands above the rest – a signed, personalized edition of "The Book Thief". Given to me by a friend many years ago, it holds a special place in my heart. The beautiful anniversary edition is a work of art, and the inscription on the inside cover is a reminder of the thought and love behind its creation. For me, this book represents the culmination of all that I hold dear – friendship, literature, and the memories we create along the way.
**A Bookshelf Time Capsule: Reflections and Memories**
As I look back on my bookshelves, I realize that each title holds a piece of my story – a reminder of where I've been, what I've loved, and who's shared those moments with me. For me, this is more than just a collection of books – it's a time capsule, a reflection of the person I am today, and the memories we've made along the way.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi friends it's regan and welcome back to another video today i'm very excited to be filming this that's a bit of a celebration an ode to the disasters and the love of my life behind me my bookshelves today i'm going to be doing the bookshelf time capsule book tag created by jesse the reader i'll have his original video down below but it's essentially a collection of questions that allow you to kind of chat through the current status of your bookshelf i won't lie my bookshelves are an utter disaster they're definitely not as clean and organized as i feel like a lot of other booktubers out there are but for that reason i kind of definitely wanted to do this tag i don't think i'll ever do a bookshelf tour at least soon because my shelves are just personally not in a state that i feel like should be captured in a bookshelf tour but i still kind of wanted to do a video celebrating them chatting about my current collection and how i have it set up in my small new york apartment without further ado let's chat about my shelves question one is give an overview of your shelves where are they from so i have the billy bookshelves from ikea a very popular option among booktubers and just the world and honestly i would highly highly recommend them i've had these shelves since i've moved to new york so for about three years but i've been using billy bookshelves since high school i want to say as my go-to book storage apparatus if you will i won't lie i feel like i'm constantly daydreaming about other shelving options not that i'm unhappy with these but more because i love interior design and obviously i'm in a pretty constrained space right now so i dream of one day having more space and like what i would do if i had more space for example i definitely love the entire wall of ladder bookshelves i'm also a huge fan of the l bracket shelves coffee and books on instagram like noelle's bookshelf option ariel bessette i just feel like they have such a dreamy setup and i'm definitely a huge fan and every time i watch their videos i'm just like staring at it and i'm very appreciative because my situation is not nearly as aesthetic as that that being said outside of these literal two shelves behind me and i don't think i could fit any more bookshelves in my apartment i do just have books everywhere like anywhere i felt like i could logically put a book i try to do so like i have some over my tv i have some on my air conditioning unit i have them over the shelf above my bed i'm basically constantly just trying to fit books into my small apartment in as many places as possible without being too overwhelmed by them literally like them falling on top of me while i'm just trying to work or sleep um so far so good but we'll see it's really day by day over here next question is do you end up keeping every book that you read or do you end up ditching books that you don't like so for me again because space is definitely a constraint in my life i do have to be pretty diligent about what i give away or donate i love donating to my local library i feel like i'm there at least once a month just giving books away that i didn't really love that being said i have a hard time really getting my collection down to probably where it should be logically i am overwhelmed by stacks of books at all times but it's hard for me to get rid of like tbr books that i'm really excited about i personally love having a huge collection i love being surrounded by the possibility of a new favorite as well as my current favorites so it's hard for me to let those go that being said i really do try to clean off my shelves every month even if it's just a small couple of books passing them along if i didn't love them because i just don't have the space one day hopefully i'll have more shelves but for now i definitely have to do it otherwise my entire apartment would just be books everywhere which it kind of already is but like even worse next question is do you have an organization method and is there one that you would like to try so for me personally i really like a not organized organization method i like to keep series together that's probably the main thing but for the most part i organize my shelves just based on aesthetically how i like things to be together i also like asymmetry i don't like when everything is like perfectly straight or everything is the same height i like mixing hardbacks with paperbacks and i think this comes from because i like having my series together it doesn't bother me if one's a paperback and one's a hardback i kind of appreciate the unevenness of that and i actually enjoy book stacks and just in general have kind of a hodgepodge of things going on um obviously because i read a lot of fantasy i have some very long fantasy series that tends to dominate my shelves regardless of what i do which does provide some symmetry but for the most part the only thing i really require is that i like things to stay together and i just kind of organize things based on what i personally think looks good but there's no like alphabetizing or by genre or by height or anything like that going on in my life the only other reorganization method i think i'd be interested in trying is the rainbow one i love it when other people do it i don't really think it would work well with the books that i personally own because i do read a lot of fantasy i think my rainbow would be a little unbalanced in its color distribution like i just don't own that many colorful books which kind of defeats the purpose i think of a rainbow and it would kind of bother me to have all my fantasy series broken up but you know that's just me the next question is how often do you reorganize your shelves is there an approach that you take for this honestly reorganization is a bit stressful because i don't really do it for like fun it's really because i'm just trying to figure out how to fit more books on my bookshelves it's more like a puzzle to be solved than reorganization for fun if that makes sense again because i also don't really have a method this isn't really an activity that i love generally when i just set up my bookshelves they don't change too much obviously i would say about once a year i'll move series around especially if i have new favorite series i want to make sure prominently displayed i'll definitely purposely rearrange books to make those more clear i did that with my robin hobb books i did that with legend born i did a poppy war and a few others this particular shelf down here i don't know if you guys can see it very well but i'll show you i rearranged so it can very proudly show a lot of my favorite fantasy series next question is is there a shelf that you don't like and no matter what you do can't really make satisfactory honestly no i think my standard response to this would be the shelves i have double stacked so the bottom two shelves on my bookshelves are literally like two rows of books it is not pretty it is not easy to maneuver around it's not easy to find books down there so from that perspective i really dislike those four bottom shelves but there's really nothing i can really do about it outside of getting more bookshelves so i'm a very obvious solution and one day i'll be able to make them satisfactory but space really has limited me and so because of that i'd say those bottom two shelves i don't like one shelf that i really like that i know a lot of you guys dislike and roast me for is this shelf right here the one that kind of bows a bit in the background behind my head no matter how many times i've rearranged this shelf it doesn't stop bowing i have removed all of the books still bowed so i've just decided to go with it but i love this shelf because it has all of my favorite books on it i would say like the majority of my favorite series this is like my dense high fantasy shelf so because of that i'm a big fan i also really love my robin hobb shelf as well because all those books are so pretty next question is is there a color that dominates your shelf i would definitely say because i'm a fantasy reader definitely the darker tones black and gray and dark blue i feel like are used quite a bit in the fantasy genre so because of that i think my shelves overall have a more somber tone to them but also i do feel like there are some newer fantasy trends that have lighter brighter book illustrated colors so it's kind of turning my shelves a bit around making them a bit more colorful which i can appreciate but for the most part i would definitely say just darker tones definitely dominate my shelf next question is what is the most damaged book on your shelf and i won't lie this took me a second to find because it lives in the bottom to shelf neighborhood so it was kind of hidden behind quite a few books but it is definitely my copy of the book thief by marcus zuzak i've had this book since middle school and the reason why it's actually so damaged is because i've led this out to i don't know probably like 20 people throughout my life i absolutely fell in love with this book the first time i read it so much that i was determined to get as many people in my life as possible to read it as well this is also a book i've reread so many times that it just through wear and tear it's just become the most damaged but because of that it's also become one of the most special books on my shelf like i'll never get rid of this it just feels like a piece of my life and i just will continue to lend this book out though to anyone i gave it to i said if they lost it i would never forgive them so i've always gotten to return to me which i'm really grateful for but this is definitely the most damaged especially when i take off the dust jacket this book has been through it a bit next question is do i have any books that have any major printing issues the answer is probably yes but honestly that's not really something that catches my eye when i'm reading um i'm dyslexic so half the time like if there's a spelling mistake or a grammatical error like i'm not gonna be the one who's sketching it there's a reason why i'll never pursue a career as being an editor because it just it would not work out so i'm sure there is i just don't know what it is or which book it is couldn't tell you the next question is what is the ugliest spine on your bookshelf that sticks out no matter what you do for this i'm going to go with the eye of the world by robert jordan mostly because i just think it's boring i wouldn't really call it ugly i just think comparatively it's just not very grand especially given the scope and the weight of this particular fantasy series and as i think about having all 10 plus books of this lined up on my shelf it's not really exciting with like the actual design um with that in mind i do know there's a lot of beautiful custom like paperback versions of these that you can get which i'm kind of eyeing and thinking about i also feel like the classic hardcovers are more fun and they're sort of kitschy way but yeah i definitely think these paperback releases are just a little boring so i would definitely say this and just the entire series i just don't think these paperbacks are that fun the next question is what is the tallest book on your shelf and i literally just like had to like quickly do a measure i mean i don't think i have any unusually tall books or any book that's kind of out of place due to its size i would probably select um oathbringer and rhythm of war by brandon sanderson just given that these are very giant hardbacks and in theory might be the tallest given their overall weight but i wouldn't say there's any unusually tall books on my bookshelf i don't own graphic novels or any large illustrated editions of any books on hand um i just have kind of like the traditional sized hardback paperback situation going on but maybe one day maybe one day i mean i love a tall book they're very grand very very big the very last question for this tag is what is the most prized book in your possession and i have to go with this edition of the book thief this is one of the things i cherish most in my life this was actually a gift to me many years ago and i have never ever left it behind or left it out of my sight finally get another shelf to put somewhere but we shall see hopefully you guys enjoyed this video and i will see you soon with another one soon goodbyehi friends it's regan and welcome back to another shelf to put somewhere but we shall see hopefully you guys enjoyed this video and i will see you soon with another one soon goodbye\n"
