**Better Drifter: A Day of Fun with Cars**
As I'm about to embark on my first drifting experience in real life, I want to give you a little bit of context. This is Cerrone's third time drifting in real life, and he's gotten the hang of it. On the other hand, this will be my first time sliding a real car on real pavement with real concrete walls, so hopefully, I won't wreck Cerrone's car - that would feel really bad.
I'm going to let him get some laps first and let us know how he thinks it feels. We'll see if it makes him any better of a drifter, and then we'll see if your boy can drift well at all.
Last time I came here, I felt really good about the car - the driving was great all day, trying different setups, getting different advice, trying different things. But now, just street driving this car on the way over here, the front end feels so much better, and I feel much more confident in the car. So hopefully, this will work out; I feel really good about it.
**The Angle Kit: A Game-Changer?**
Having all the extra angle that we added with the angle kit is going to allow him to save a lot more things like if he's about to loop out, he's got more angle to counter-steer and correct. Although he's still looped out, but he will be able to save a lot of things that he would have not been able to save. And it just allows him to make more angle to go more sideways.
It also steers a little bit quicker so it should be a little bit more responsive for him and hopefully just feel better overall. Sounds like it does; he said it felt great just driving around, so hopefully, it feels great out there.
I feel so much more confident because I see there's so much more room in the steering so I'm driving close to where I was driving before without the angle kit but now I feel more confident to go a little bit faster into a lot of the turns and use the angle to go through them. So I do think it's working; I do think the geometry correction is huge, the front end just feels so much more planted.
**The Qualifying Run:**
Here's Joe's qualifying run number one - nice entry there, nice transition, look at that using a lot of angle come on you can get out of it baby. Uh, qualifying run number two, Zack job online.
Well, we did it; that was fun; we done super sick; we done the drift alright?
**The Steering Angle Kit: A Great Move?**
Honesty I think it was a great move; do I can I flat say it will make you a better driver yeah, that's like it puts more tools in your arsenal but seat time really is what you need; seat time is what you need.
I do think if you can afford the weight to do an angle kit see time is always going to outweigh that but I do think the confidence that the angle kit gave me was massively beneficial just knowing that it's there, just knowing that it's there and even just me doing like some donuts around the cone like I've done that before in cars with stock angle and it's easy to lose it.
But with with that amount of angle you can just always save it and it feels great but I think that's probably going to do it for today; I think this has been a lot of fun, I've had an absolute blast today, thank you guys for watching, I hope you had a good time too.
**The Next Week:**
But we'll see you guys next week follow me on Instagram at Zackjob, follow my boy Cerrone at Cerrone Photo, don't forget to follow Donut while you're there at Donutmedia; see you guys next Wednesday, Monday Wednesdays funny pit baby funny money Wednesdays

what he's worked on it a bunch and this thing rips now but now he's trying to get it ready for drift week which is a week of drifting madness and absolute mayhem so he keeps saying he needs more angle what does that mean well we're gonna find out today i figured this would be a good excuse to do some drifty stuff on moneypit i'm zach this is moneypit that's cerrone let's slide around thank you to for you support the brands that support donut so we can keep making even more fun shows see money making jerry just made you a millionaire gamer you're welcome all right tyrone get us up to speed what are we looking at this is my 93 325i this car has an s52 swap got some cool sparkle bucket seats along with a momo steering wheel a hand brake that came from craigslist so i have no idea what brand it is uh going to the rear i've got some cheap ebay camber arms and a will wood dual caliper set up in the rear so that's pretty sweet up front i've got these style 32s wrapped in some sticky nexons yeah other than that that is it so now i want to get more angle so let's talk about what the hell that even means all right so what is steering angle well when we're talking about steering angle we're talking about the maximum angle the wheels can go at lock to lock or at the far ends of the steering travel okay and in a stock car you maybe have about 30 degrees of angle each way and that's just not enough for drifting for drifting you want more angles so you can put the wheel more sideways and gives you more angle to play with to save the car from spinning out so we know that we want more steering angle but the question is how do we get it well we'll get to that in a minute but first let's measure how much steering angle we have right now so that we can compare to after we install our steering angle kit i'll be happy at 60 i'll be like damn i think six would be sweet i'm guessing that we're gonna have about 35 right now stock uh yeah i'm gonna guess i'm gonna use 35 stock so i uh whipped up a sweet little angle finder unit jobby uh just going to throw this down here all right so let's see what we got yank on that wheel my boy cranker oh baby oh baby is that it that's it we're at 30. we got 30 degrees of angle okay so we were close uh 30 degrees i think we're going to be able to significantly improve on that though we're going to be able to get a lot more angle out of this thing today all right so here's our steering angle kit uh we got it from slr and it's super sweet this is kind of the central piece of the kit this is what's going to give us more steering angle this is called a steering plate and it's honestly pretty simple so basically this pin here will go through our new spherical bearing at the end of our control arm right so that goes in the bottom of the control arm and then this is our new tie rod end the thing that steers your wheels the thing that determines how much angle you can get so this bolt out here is where our tie rod used to connect so you can see that we've moved it in towards the center of its axis of rotation so that means this lever is a little bit shorter so that means that for any steering input this is going to turn more so that right there is what's going to give us all the steering angle it's also sweet that it's got this beefy heim joint that looks like it could take an absolute beating so we've got our steering plates then we've got our diy part surround tell me about it so first i went out and got some new control arms and cut the end off and welded this extended piece in now i can't weld so my good friend and engineer brandon patterson welded this up for me and put these beautiful welds on to make this arm and now these extensions make the arm two inches longer than the original arm that's what gives those drift cars the bulldog stance up front right looking like yeah i'm going to be looking like jimmy in all those photos you're going to be looking tough so this is this is the part of the kit that's a little bit diy you know we take a stock bmw control arm we cut it and we add part of the slr kit thanks to brandon's welding it looks dope and these should have plenty of clearance for the wheel because you got to think when when the wheel is at full lock one of the things that you run into is the inside of the control arm this has a nice boomerang shape that should give us plenty of room for plenty of angle so i'm really excited i think we're going to get maybe that 70 you were talking about all right so now that we understand the control arm set up our little diy part of the kit now let's talk about the last piece these purple tubes these are basically just tie rod extenders so by extending our control arms we move the wheels further out and basically we need to extend our tie rods to get to where they need to be so these will allow us to get all that angle out of our stock steering rack so these very simple these basically one end goes on to our heim and then the other goes into our stock inner tie rod but where we need to be is actually on the car so let's start installing you guys know how to throw a boomerang you kind of aim out that way you want to hold it like this and then everything you got give me a jack pump pump pump it up i love these episodes all right we got the wheels off got the car in the air uh in the opposite order of that so now all we need to do is pop the tie rods out of the knuckles uh get our stock control arms out of here and put our new stuff in so let's get some tools on the job yeah well when you do that just grab the jack so that happens a lot with ball joints tie rod ends when you break it loose and hammer it out then you just end up spinning the whole thing sometimes there's an allen up top that you can counter hold and then use a wrench but in the case that there isn't that like this what you can do is actually take your jack and just put some pressure back up against it into its hole and that'll hold it and then you can pop it out real easy so i'll show you that on my side okay learning hour all right so while sirens wrench and let's talk real quick about some of the other things that these plates do one of the things these do is give you control over your ackermann settings ackermann is basically the idea that when a car takes a turn the two steering wheels the inside and the outside wheels have to travel different circles which means they need to basically have different angles now that's great that's awesome for road racing and maximum grip when you're driving a car traditionally but when you're drifting you don't necessarily want very much ackerman because well the car's going sideways so the wheels kind of just need to go in the same direction so these give us control over that by sliding this forward or backward this bolt right here we can control the ackermann settings we can give them normal ackermann or aggressive ackermann for road racing or we can dial out all the ackermann for drifting all right so ackerman control that's pretty cool but there is one other trick that these ponies do uh so let's talk about that real quick it's called roll center correction and i'm gonna use my body to try to depict what's going on here stick with me okay so in a stock car all right let's pretend for this uh that my arms are the control arms are on a stock car and my body is the body of the car uh so a stock car the control arms are down like this at rest and when you hit a bump you kind of go like that same kind of deal in a corner okay but then when you lower your car you basically lower the center of it but the control arms stay like this so then you really flatten out your control arms now when you hit a bump you're going to invert them and when you're going over corners you're doing all this crazy stuff so these steering plates let us drop our control arms back down the car is still lowered but we get to actually correct our roll center and put our control arms back to where they should be so that gives us a lot better handling so really simple and quite choice all right so here you can see the control arm extension we were talking about before this is what uh so this is the control arm in its original stock form this is what this one used to look like before we brutally cut off the end and welded some new bits on so you can see how significantly extended that is two two and a half almost three inches all right we got the old stuff out now it's time to throw the new stuff in this is the fun part extended extend extendo automatic my rap name extendo automatic album coming soon sun yo i'm on tracks three seven and eleven check em they're gonna be bangers fire hot. up and down headlights shirts they're finally here it took forever to design these things but the results are amazing this is truly my favorite shirt that we have ever put out that's what happens when you keep getting better at it we got two different colorways they're both black but they got different colored inks on them i'm talking yellow and white or green and red and both of them are fire better order both of them now because they're not going to last very long at all i'm ordering 12 of them myself we're printing them right now so go get them all you still can donutmedia.com tell them james said there's actually no way that you can do that but maybe tell yourself under your breath when you sh hit the cart so i'm reassembling now this is the chassis mount for the lower control arm also known as a treehouse or a lollipop or a lollipop i don't know what or a f cab what do you mean you don't know why people call it a lollipop why do they have so many names tree house lollipop fcat well it looks like a lollipop i don't know about a tree that one makes sense why do they call it a tree house then i don't think yeah this is just uh the rear position front control arm bushing yo that looks way cooler bulldog do you get it does it clear well define clear at present it clears all right i mean the thing looks cool you see the looks like a bulldog thermometer truth how much angle does our dangle now have let's see what we got i'm voting 60 maybe plus 9. not quite so close that looks like a hard 53 and a half yeah i'm gonna round up to 54. six short of 60. pretty good but there's a nice big plane overhead right now so i mean really this this should be a pretty good setup to get this thing sideways yeah i think uh i think we should we could we could maybe do some backies like this we could you want to try we should we should go to the track and try and do some backies what a great idea let's go back to the track for some backies with zach we're back at one of my favorite places in the world willow springs international raceway and today we got two main goals first off most importantly we're gonna get cerrone in the e36 and put him out on track let him get a few laps and we'll see if he thinks the angle kit is making him a better drifter and then most importantly we're going to put me in the car and see if i can drift at all to give you a little bit of context this is going to be cerrone's i think third time drifting in real life he's been up here and he's gotten the hang of it this is going to be my first time drifting in real life i've slid around in the snow i've done some power slides i've done some virtual drifting on the simulator but uh this is gonna be my first time sliding a real car on real pavement uh with real concrete walls so hopefully i don't wad throne's car i would feel really bad i'm gonna let him get some laps time prior's gonna do some donuts get a feel for the car see how that goes and go from there here's joe's qualifying run number one nice entry there nice transition look at that using a lot of angle come on you can get out of it baby uh qualifying run number two zack job online well we did it that was fun we done super sick we done the drift all right so talk to me about the steering angle kit what do you think uh honestly i think it was a great move do i can i flat say it will make you a better driver yeah that's like it puts more tools in your arsenal but seat time really is what you need seat time is what you need i do think if you can afford the weight to do an angle kit see time is always going to outweigh that but i do think the confidence that the angle kit gave me was massively beneficial just knowing that it's there just knowing that it's there and even just me doing like some donuts around the cone like i've done that before in cars with stock angle and it's easy to lose it but with with that amount of angle you can just always save it and it feels great but i think that's probably going to do it for today i think this has been a lot of fun i've had an absolute blast today thank you guys for watching i hope you had a good time too but we'll see you guys next week follow me on instagram zackjob follow my boy cerrone at cerrone photo don't forget to follow donut
