Char--Broil Digital Electric Smoker with SmartChef Technology - Review

The Rise of Electric Smokers: A Hands-Off Smoking Experience

Everybody loves barbecue, but the problem is tending a barbecue pit is a time-intensive process made even more difficult when it's cold outside. I think that's why electric smokers are gaining in popularity. This is the Charbroiled Digital Electric Smoker, which is internet-connected, allowing you to control and monitor it with an app on your smartphone.

The App: Control Center for Your Smoker

The app really is the control center for the smoker, so let's take a closer look at how it works. The app will walk us through the process of smoking choose our food, pork get smoked pulled pork right here my pork butts around seven pounds each and this will list out basic recipe we already pre-seasoned our pork butts with a rub of my making and then there step-by-step instructions from there on out we'll go ahead and add this recipe. At this point, we need to get the smoker box ready to go, so we've loaded our wood chips into the wood chip box that's sitting right over the heating element and just to the left is a reservoir for water or whatever liquid it is that you want to use to help maintain humidity inside the smoker box.

Preparing the Smoker Box

Our smoker box is all set to go, and we're ready to start cooking. But first, we need to preheat the smoker, so let's press ok and wait for it to prompt us to press the Go button right on the smoker. At this point, the app will notify me when it's time to put the meat in 45 minutes has elapsed, and the smoker box is warmed up, with a scent of Hickory coming out of it. We're going to go ahead and open it up and load it with our pork shoulder.

The Importance of Temperature

We want to put the temperature probe right in towards the center of the meat to inform the smoker box about the cooking process. This is crucial because it allows us to monitor the internal temperature of the meat, ensuring that it's cooked to perfection. We'll let your back up and we're in business, so what we're cooking.

Using Manual Cooking

If you want to do any kind of manual cooking process, you really need to use the app. There are a few presets available on the smoker, but if you're going to do any kind of controlled smoking process, you have to have it internet-connected and the app available. Remember, this is not a timed process; it's a temperature-based process, so if you don't have that probe inside a piece of meat, the smoker isn't going to know when to stop.

My Takeaway on This Smoker

I've been using this smoker, and I'm impressed with how it performed. We haven't eaten anything yet, but the pork looks fantastic, everything went according to plan. I was really impressed with how long the wood chips lasted in the smoker; we got a little notification at about eight hours through to check them, they were doing great. I added a few more just for good measure, but I'm really impressed with how sustained and light and even the smoke distribution was throughout the process.

The Experience of Using This Smoker

I never worried about walking away from the smoker thinking I was going to miss something important, it's the ultimate hands-off smoking experience. Having the app allowed me to check in on the temperature and see what progress we were making; it was a lot of fun and pretty handy. The question is, do you really need Wi-Fi connectivity for this? I don't like the fact that you would get a lot less functionality if it's not connected to the internet, but at the same time, having the app and being able to monitor the smoker remotely made all the difference.

The Delicious Outcome

I think this stuff is going to be delicious. I love how easy it was to use this smoker, and the results were amazing. The smoke distribution was even and sustained throughout the process, which resulted in tender and flavorful meat. If you're looking for a hands-off smoking experience without sacrificing quality, then this electric smoker is definitely worth considering.
