A Brief Hands-On Look at iOS 12 Beta 4: Changes and Features to Expect
When performing a search in the App Store app, users can expect to see results that are similar to what they would normally see. However, with the release of iOS 12 beta 4, things take a different turn. The search results now include developers and stories, providing users with more detailed information about their apps.
One notable change in the Wallet app is the info button that appears in the bottom right-hand corner of items. In previous versions of iOS 12 beta, this button was only visible for the three Aegis Journal apps. However, with iOS 12 beta 4, the info button has been made more accessible to users. When switching between different types of apps, the info button is now lifted up, making it easier for users to access important information.
Another change that may go unnoticed at first glance is the sorting of mobile data usage under the cellular panel in the Settings app. In previous versions of iOS 12 beta, the data was sorted alphabetically. However, with iOS 12 beta 4, the data is now sorted by usage, making it easier for users to identify their most heavily used apps from a cellular data perspective.
For those who enjoy customizing their emoji characters, there is some good news in store. iOS 12 beta 4 will not introduce any additional lip styles, which means that users can still choose from six different options. However, the earring colors have been updated to include metallic properties or gradient effects, making them stand out more.
The sheer icons in the Photos app share sheet have also undergone some changes. When comparing iOS 12 beta 3 and 4, it becomes apparent that the airplay icon is now the most noticeable change. While other changes are present, they are more subtle than this one. The music info panel has been updated to include song titles, artists, and albums, making it easier for users to access important information.
In addition to these visual changes, the Voice Memos app has also seen some updates. When comparing iOS 12 beta 3 and 4, it becomes clear that the settings have been simplified. Users can now choose between "current location" and "recording number" as default names for their voice memos, making it easier to organize their recordings.
The battery settings panel in the Settings app has also seen some changes. In iOS 12 beta 3, there was no explainer text at the bottom of the screen. However, with iOS 12 beta 4, this explainer text is now visible at the very bottom of the screen, providing users with more information about their battery usage.
Finally, the Messages app has introduced some new activity stickers to iOS 12 beta 4. These stickers provide users with additional ways to express themselves and add some personality to their messages. With these changes and features, it's clear that Apple is committed to improving the user experience in its latest operating system update.
