**A Review of the Black Case: A Mixed Bag of Good and Bad Features**
We recently received a black case that caught our attention, but upon closer inspection, we noticed some issues with the design and execution. One of the most noticeable features of this case is its all-black aesthetic, which is a great idea on paper, but when it comes to actual implementation, it falls short.
The main issue with the case is the use of old stock cables that are not black. As the reviewer noted, "we're spending 90 pounds on a case which every single thing in this case is black and then you're going to stick your cables in and then you're going to have this eyesore of a multi-coloured cable sticking out onto your motherboard." This is a major design flaw that can be easily rectified with some basic changes.
The reviewer suggests that the manufacturer could cover up the old stock cables by using a black boot or insulation tape. This would not only make the case look more polished but also address the issue of aesthetics. The reviewer notes, "it just looks a little bit unfinished when it looks like that which is a bit of a shame to be honest." By making this simple change, the manufacturer could improve the overall design and presentation of the case.
Despite the issues with the cables, the build quality of the case itself is generally good. The reviewer notes, "the build quality is i won't say it's the thickest metal but it's sturdy enough it should be fine." However, they also mention that the screws can be a bit tricky to use, particularly one of them which was found to be too tight and required a screwdriver to remove.
The case does feature a number of nice design elements, including airflow holes on the front and plenty of room for adding additional components. The reviewer notes, "you've got that airflow on the front and then obviously you've got plenty of room to add stuff in the side." This is particularly useful for builders who like to get creative with their case configurations.
One of the standout features of this case is its front panel, which can be easily removed by simply pulling it forward. The reviewer notes, "there isn't any noticeable screws or anything like that which hold it in it just basically pulls out from the top." This makes it easy to access the components inside and allows for quick cleaning and maintenance.
The case also features a fine mesh filter behind the front panel, which helps to prevent dust from accumulating inside. The reviewer notes, "you can take the mesh out if you wanted which will increase the airflow obviously will increase the amount of dust inside the machine or you can take it out just to clean it depending on which you prefer." This feature is particularly useful for builders who like to keep their case clean and well-maintained.
Finally, the reviewer performs a basic smoke test on the case to evaluate its airflow performance. They note that even with the case's auto fan setting at 30-40 percent, it still manages to suck in all of the smoke with ease. This is a testament to the case's good airflow design and suggests that it will perform well under normal operating conditions.
**Conclusion**
Overall, this black case has some great features and a solid build quality, but falls short in terms of design and aesthetics. By addressing the issues with the cables and making a few simple changes, the manufacturer could improve the overall presentation of the case. Despite its flaws, this case is still worth considering for builders who value good airflow and a sturdy design.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi everyone phil from tech4tex here today we're going to be looking at this new case from nzxt it's the h510 flow you're probably thinking hey up i've heard of the h510 before it's been around for years yet there is a few different variations of it out there but this is the new flow model and what makes it different is in the name it's got extra flow as in airflow because it's got a perforated front which has got a mesh behind it which will allow it to suck more air in and keep your components extra cool which makes them a last longer and potentially perform better and if you're into overclocking you can also overclock better as well so we've got links in the description just below if you're interested in purchasing we've also got the latest prices down there as well so make sure you click those links before we go on to the main video if you would do us a favor click that like button subscribe click the bell as well that way you'll get notifications of new videos and live streams we do again doing all these things helps support the channel and helping to support the channel allows us to release more videos better quality videos and more content exclusively just for you okay today we're looking at the h510 flow from nzxt we're not going to be comparing against previous versions we're going to presume you've not had a h510 case before or you know nothing about them so this is basically a new case in that lineup this case has basically got a perforated front on it which is different than most of the other ones in the past gives it more airflow through the front which obviously helps cool the machine down and makes everything inside last potentially longer the longer you um the cooler you keep electronics basically the longer the last and potentially better they perform as well and potentially better overclocking if you do decide to go down that route so basics is it goes for 90 quid so 89.99 that's in pounds in euro which is around about 75 euros so it's on the same sort of price range as a cooler master h 500 so you've got to compare which you'd prefer uh obviously something with a big rgb lights on or something with more of a minimalistic design like this so it's really up to you you've got like two sides of the fence sort of thing right so the main thing or the main selling point of this is that perforated front wheel or mesh front or honeycomb or however you want to call it on the front it's got some great features iconic cable bar for uninterrupted tempered glass side panel as you'll be able to see it's glass side on there it's got usb 3.1 gen2 compatible it's also got usb type-c connector on the front or the top front as i call it cable routing kit with pre-installed channels and strips which is good good and it's got a removable bracket designed for radiators up to 280 millimeters and it takes some standard atx 4 match so that should take your standard motherboards without an issue so let's have a closer look okay so this is the case you've got it's pretty straightforward as you can see it's got a glass panel there and then obviously it's got this aluminium chassis all the way around it's pretty sleek but it doesn't have some of that wow factor some of the cases have but if you're into that minimalist style then this may be for you first thing i'm going to do is take off this little plastic strip here or should i say cover to protect the gas i know a lot of you like that so here we go well that wasn't a very good start was it there we go so okay next i'm going to take off the glass side panel just so we don't damage it while i'm turning it around or scratch it or anything like that but it's basically just one thumb screw on the back you once you've undone that it sort of pulls forward and out it's on a lip by the feel of it so it should be all right but just make sure you do hold it near the top and it does have a sort of a plastic part on the inside near the top so you won't damage it when you're holding it so just to give you a rough idea and as it says there caution obviously don't drop it okay so let's have a look at the rest of the case so as you can see the front is pretty straightforward you can see the perforated front or mesh front or whatever you want to call it so that is there as you can see this piece of metal here goes all the way around the front and the side and then on the reverse side you've got another obviously door there which again you've got thumb screws to pull it off pretty straight forward on the back pretty standard back layout you've got room on here for your seven pci express i think it's seven two four six seven yeah um so you've got room for seven that's a full atx board you can fit in there obviously i o shield goes there for your motherboard you've got pre-installed fan on the back looks like a 120 so 120 millimeter fan and then obviously your power supply goes in this section here obviously from this side but otherwise that's pretty much from the sides the top of the case just to show you so the top of the case here you've got room here for another fan here depending on the size you're wanting it looks like between a 120 and a 140 millimeter or a potentially a small radiator you could potentially fit on there if you have got enough clearance from the motherboard you've got an audio jack it's a combined audio jack that's microphone and earphone socket in one bit like you get on a smartphone it's got a usb type-c connection there as well and you've also got standard usb 3.1 gen 2 and the power button there there's no reset button on there and as i said it's only got one standard usb port personally i preferred it to have two on there it's very very rare i'm not using more than one port on the front so but again that's their design preference on the bottom you've got the four feet they've got a good clearance probably three or four centimeters they're also rubberized as well as you can see there's some screws there that's for the hard drive bay what's on the inside which will look at closely in a few minutes but if you remove those you can remove the hard drive bait if you don't want to use hard drive also it does allow you to slide it back and forth so you can reposition it slightly within the case and on the bottom or underneath where you would have the power supply you have got this mesh cover and the good thing about this mesh cover is you don't need to turn it upside down or anything like that it will slide out from the bottom of the machine very easily when you've got it standing upright for example from there you can just pull it out and push it back in without having to turn the machine upside down to clean it out like on a lot of machines okay before we go any further one thing i'd like to mention is well the plastics in here when i saw all the plastics on this my only thought was i bet greta thunderberg's head spun around like linda blair in the exorcist because look at it how many pieces of plastic have we got here we've got a piece of plastic it came in you got a piece of plastic what came on the glass yeah i can probably understand that stops it getting scratched then all these bags of screws are individually packed inside another plastic bag as well as a cable in a plastic bag and a cable what doesn't come in a plastic bag why does that one need a plastic bag and that one doesn't i don't know and then these were inside the same plastic bag so you've got all this there's more plastic here than there is case so and it was the same for the kraken power um water coolers we've just reviewed as well lots of plastic we're in nearly 2022 there's environmental things going off all around the world at the moment about wasting plastic plastic killing dolphins and fish and polluting things yes you may have recycle marks on them and stuff but the problem is they're getting blown out to sea going into landfill and they're not getting recycled properly please come up with an alternative way to package these you could have easily cut down all these screws and that doesn't even need a bag you could have cut all those screws down into one bag maybe have one piece of plastic over there it comes in a box it ain't going to get scratched while it's in the box so why do you need extra plastic on top so please please do something about the plastic that goes to all case manufacturers and products not just nzxt on top of that we've got a huge manual again the manual is bigger than the case we don't need this please use qr codes you've done it for your power supply the i think it was the c750 the bronze you've managed to put a qr code in there for people to scan and it'll go straight to the manual why can't you do the same with the case saves all this it's multilingual you can update it very easily so people can see the latest manual whenever they want they can zoom into areas on the phone and you can even include video descriptions and show people how to do it rather than including all this why it's needed don't get me wrong the instructions are good but is all this needed save the environment people right let's get on to the actual case review now okay so you do have a little box inside as i said which comes with all these screws and plastic bags you've got some nice cable ties there you've got an audio splitter so if you did have a headset which has a separate microphone and headphone jack you can plug that into the front of obviously the case or the top corner and plug in your microphone headphone into there so that's pretty straightforward and then we also have a front panel connector just to get that out of yet another bag which would then plug directly you plug these bits here directly into your motherboard and then you plug in the connector front panel connector let me find it where is it which you can just about see there you'd plug that into there forget it right way around like that so it makes it easy and then you can plug those into your motherboard but again do you actually need that and why do we have a yellow stripe down it it's an all black case we don't want a yellow stripe and i'll come more into that in a few seconds build quality looks very good doesn't see any problems there there's nice places to hide the cables tie it to so you've got plenty of pass-throughs there there's no rubberized sections to protect the cable or anything like that but the metal does seem to be folded mostly so it shouldn't cause any problems with the cable so that's going to be good for your cable tidying it does come with a fan on the back which does come with a three pin connector so it's not a pwm uh connector and you also got a fan on the back of the case as well sorry on the front of the case which is a three pin connection as well but it only comes with but it only comes with one fan personally if you're doing a case like this you're going about the mesh airflow why are you leaving a big gap here where there should be a second fan you really need to add a second flan in the fan in here and sell it even potentially put the one what's on the back on the front or something along that lines um but it seems a little bit strange why you wouldn't include an extra fan there when you're promoting the case for air flow so on your minor niggly thing a lot of people have aftermarket fans yeah i know but i just would have thought you would have filled it up with actual fans so otherwise there's not a huge amount to see from this side you can't access the psu from there but it does have it has perforated holes across the top of the shroud here so it does let a little bit of air flow through into the actual uh area where you've got your hard drives and the power supply and stuff like that if you are actually putting the hard drives in there there's some nice holes here for your cabling which is good and up here as we said at the top of the case the top corner here you also got a nice big area here for putting cable in through as well for for example maybe a small water cooler or fans or any other cables you want to do there for rgb and so forth which is nice on the opposite side you can actually see some cable molding here so you can put your cable for all these bits of molding to keep it nice and tidy but it does have velcro on it so you can tie the cables down so that'd be good to keep everything nice and flat so i must admit i do like that you've got room here to stick two solid state drives that's the traditional two and a half inch ones or two and a half inch hard drives if you're still using them you just take that screw off there this bit comes off you screw your hard drive or ssd onto it and then screw it back into there and hey presto you've got two hidden drives on the back of the motherboard there underneath the shrouded area you've got your hard drive bay which you can put traditional hard drives in or you have got room to add a another two and a half inch drive at the top if you wanted depending on how you sail but as i said you can remove this and it also if you loosen the screws at the bottom which are here it does allow you to slide it this way a bit or that way a bit depending on how you want it which is good so it gives you extra room to hide your cabling from your power supply if you've got a lot of the cables hanging around now cabling is all flat black mostly anyway apart from oh the audio cable surprise surprise this is multi-colored sachet packet rainbow affected cabling why they haven't shrouded that or put black cabling on there i don't know we are spending 90 pounds on a case which every single thing in this case is black and then you're going to stick your cables in and then you're going to have this eyesore of a multi-coloured cable sticking out onto your motherboard so it's not good guys we are in 2021 make it black please and now you've probably got old stock which you're just putting covering over and you're trying to get rid of from 1995 but please cover this up it won't take much to put a boot over there black boot or even i don't know put some insulation tape around it or something just to make it look a little bit better it just looks a little bit unfinished when it looks like that which is a bit of a shame to be honest which is the only real let down i've got from the case itself build quality is i won't say it's the thickest metal but it's sturdy enough it should be fine and pretty much the case does exactly what it's supposed to do you've got that airflow on the front and then obviously you've got plenty of room to add stuff in the side so let's have a look at the front of the case so this is where obviously you've got one fan and ideally you should need another fan there or you can mount up to a 280 millimeter water cooler to do that you have to undo these two thumb screws here which i found one of them a little bit too tight you really needed a screwdriver to undo it which basically defeats the object of it being a thumb screw so you basically undo those and then it levers out and then get a little bit of a wiggle and it should pop out like that and then you can mount your water cooler in there if you want or extra fans now to remove the front panel there isn't any noticeable screws or anything like that which hold it in it just basically pulls out from the top so you just grab the lips at the top lean it forward and it comes out and that's it so give you a rough idea what the front panel looks like up close you have the perforated front there but you also have a fine mesh behind it to stop the dust now i'm guessing you should be able to take this out yes you can so you can take the mesh out if you wanted which will increase the airflow obviously will increase the amount of dust inside the machine or you can take it out just to clean it depending on which you prefer so it's pretty straightforward push it back together it just clicks in and then you want to place it back on the front just do it in an angle bottom first and then lean back and push one thing i did notice when the glass was on there is a slight an honest slide for probably a couple of millimeter gap on the front around about here between the glass and the front panel but nothing which is going to really affect anything it's just a slight uh look issue which to be honest you get on most cases of the weather just don't line up 100 okay so what we're going to do now is do a basic smoke test just to basically see what the airflow is like on these so basically is i hold some smoke towards it and see if it sucks it in because they advertise it as a high airflow just bear in mind we have added a water cooler to this it's a 120 mil one which is attached to the front so that does suck air in as well as the standard 120 mil fan which is in there as standard so it'll be a little bit more than standard but still even if it was just a standard just the one fan on the front it should still be pretty good because you've got that mesh front on there so let's have a look how well it does at sucking this smoke in as you can see straight away it's doing a pretty good job bear in mind is the actual fan is set on auto at the moment and because the machine's not working very hard it's only probably going to be working at about 30 to 40 percent so that means that the fans are going quite slow so when the machine needs to suck in more air when it gets hotter it will suck even more obviously the smoke or air in but it gives you a rough idea how good that is because it's sucking everything in with ease it's not missing any of that smoke at all thank you for watching this video everyone it's really appreciated you made it all the way to the end please make sure you subscribe like comment and even click that bell so you get notifications of new videos and live streams it does help support the eyesore of a multi-coloured cable sticking out onto your motherboard so it's not good guys we are in 2021 make it black please and now you've probably got old stock which you're just putting covering over and you're trying to get rid of from 1995 but please cover this up it won't take much to put a boot over there black boot or even i don't know put some insulation tape around it or something just to make it look a little bit better it just looks a little bit unfinished when it looks like that which is a bit of a shame to be honest which is the only real let down i've got from the case itself build quality is i won't say it's the thickest metal but it's sturdy enough it should be fine and pretty much the case does exactly what it's supposed to do you've got that airflow on the front and then obviously you've got plenty of room to add stuff in the side so let's have a look at the front of the case so this is where obviously you've got one fan and ideally you should need another fan there or you can mount up to a 280 millimeter water cooler to do that you have to undo these two thumb screws here which i found one of them a little bit too tight you really needed a screwdriver to undo it which basically defeats the object of it being a thumb screw so you basically undo those and then it levers out and then get a little bit of a wiggle and it should pop out like that and then you can mount your water cooler in there if you want or extra fans now to remove the front panel there isn't any noticeable screws or anything like that which hold it in it just basically pulls out from the top so you just grab the lips at the top lean it forward and it comes out and that's it so give you a rough idea what the front panel looks like up close you have the perforated front there but you also have a fine mesh behind it to stop the dust now i'm guessing you should be able to take this out yes you can so you can take the mesh out if you wanted which will increase the airflow obviously will increase the amount of dust inside the machine or you can take it out just to clean it depending on which you prefer so it's pretty straightforward push it back together it just clicks in and then you want to place it back on the front just do it in an angle bottom first and then lean back and push one thing i did notice when the glass was on there is a slight an honest slide for probably a couple of millimeter gap on the front around about here between the glass and the front panel but nothing which is going to really affect anything it's just a slight uh look issue which to be honest you get on most cases of the weather just don't line up 100 okay so what we're going to do now is do a basic smoke test just to basically see what the airflow is like on these so basically is i hold some smoke towards it and see if it sucks it in because they advertise it as a high airflow just bear in mind we have added a water cooler to this it's a 120 mil one which is attached to the front so that does suck air in as well as the standard 120 mil fan which is in there as standard so it'll be a little bit more than standard but still even if it was just a standard just the one fan on the front it should still be pretty good because you've got that mesh front on there so let's have a look how well it does at sucking this smoke in as you can see straight away it's doing a pretty good job bear in mind is the actual fan is set on auto at the moment and because the machine's not working very hard it's only probably going to be working at about 30 to 40 percent so that means that the fans are going quite slow so when the machine needs to suck in more air when it gets hotter it will suck even more obviously the smoke or air in but it gives you a rough idea how good that is because it's sucking everything in with ease it's not missing any of that smoke at all thank you for watching this video everyone it's really appreciated you made it all the way to the end please make
