iOS 16.4 - FINALLY Adds Much Needed Features & improvements!

iOS 16.4: A Review of the Latest Software Update

As an enthusiast of Apple software updates, I have had the pleasure of playing around with iOS 16.4 for a couple of days now. In this article, I would like to share with you some additional new features and changes that I've noticed after using the software.

One of the first things I want to talk about is Focus mode. Now, in iOS 16.4, if you go to set up a new Focus mode option, you now have the ability to add a filter for the always on display. This feature is available only for the new iPhone 14 pro and 14 pro Max models, and it's a welcome addition to their already impressive list of features. The fact that Apple has added this functionality to focus mode is a testament to their commitment to improving the user experience.

Another exciting development in iOS 16.4 is the addition of additional widgets to the wallet application. If you head over to the widget list and find the Apple Wallet app, you'll notice that there are now two additional widgets available for tracking packages directly with purchases made through your Apple account and your Apple wallet. These widgets come in three different sizes: small, medium, and large. I think it's a very useful feature to have on the home screen, and I'm glad to see Apple including it.

In addition to these new features, there are some minor changes that have been made to airPods. If you connect your airPods on iOS 16.4, you'll notice that the UI has changed slightly. The icon for connecting airPods is now grayed out, which I think looks a bit different from the brighter white color of previous versions. However, it's worth noting that this change is just minor and doesn't affect the functionality of airPods.

Now, something bigger and more important than these minor changes is the new home kit architecture update available for iOS 16.4. This update is much needed to improve the entire ecosystem of home kit, and I'm happy to see Apple including it in their latest software update. If you haven't updated your home kit yet, I highly recommend doing so.

Finally, there's a minor change that has been made to shortcuts. If you run the shortcuts application on iOS 16.4, you'll notice that after running a shortcut, you can now have your iPhone re-spring or shut down. This is achieved by searching for shutdown in the shortcuts app, which will allow you to shut down your iPhone or restart it after a shortcut has been run.

In conclusion, iOS 16.4 continues to improve the user experience and add new features to Apple's software. While there are some minor changes, such as the updated airPods UI and the addition of widgets to the wallet application, these are overshadowed by more significant developments, like the home kit architecture update. If you're an Apple enthusiast, I highly recommend staying tuned for future updates and following me on YouTube for more details. Thank you for watching, and I'll see you guys on the next one!
