ARE THESE 3 NEW THRILLERS WORTH THE READ

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhello everyone my name is Heather and welcome to the channel bookables hey I'm here to do another review today I'm talking about three brand new Thrillers that all came out within this month and tell you what I think about them are they worth the read or not things like that as always I will have time stamps down below for each particular book in case you want to hear about that book what I do is I tell you what the book is about what I liked about it what I didn't like about it and my rating so let's talk about the books first up I have Love Letters to a serial killer by Tasha Cornell middle of the Night by Riley Sager the midnight Feast by Lucy Foley first up we're going to talk about love letters to a serial killer I was very much anticipating this I have never read this author before the cover caught me the title caught me and then the synopsis caught me it's all about a woman named Hannah who pretty much starts writing a serial killer in jail and they fall in love and it's him when he gets out of his trial and he gets to be home she's like hey why not move in with him and really figure out if he is a seral or not like it's bananas that sounds banana doesn't it don't you want to read it I wanted to read it I regret I did that's such a bummer I was so looking forward because I haven't heard a lot about this so I'm like maybe this would be a good under the radar book that maybe nobody knows about and it could be you know and I could love it I could shout about it and more people read it all that kind of stuff and sadly it just fell flat in so many different ways for Me overall I give it a two out of five would not recommend I don't like bashing books on this channel we all know that but I always say not one book is for everyone maybe I read it and I didn't love it but you loved it that's great that's what I want to hear um and I'm okay with that this book follows Hannah and Hannah you know at the beginning of the book she is in she's working for a nonprofit she doesn't love her job she's with a guy that she doesn't really like she just feels very directionless and then she hears about this murder that she hears about this crime that happens let's just say that and more crimes keep happening and she's like I'm going to get involved I'm going to seek Justice for these woman which you know good for her she joins this forum and they start trying to investigate like hardcore investigate and then another murder happens and they arrest William and so she starts you she starts thinking like how could he how dare he which again totally understandable and she's like you know what I'm so angry about this I'm going to write to him in prison and be like I can't stand you how could you do this da da da and she does she's like maybe this will get off my chest and I could be done and then he starts writing back and start having a correspondence and then she falls in love with him Hannah she's got I don't want to I don't want to say she's got a lot of issues we all have a lot of issues to be frank we all do we're human that is human nature but Hannah is just very she is just I don't know how to describe her she could really benefit from therapy again as we all could I say that with even the per even with the person that is totally Resolute in all their saying could benefit from therapy I just truly believe that but Hannah's just she's very confused and things like that and so from her going with the letter to like hate this guy then falling in love with him she goes to his trial to support him and then after the trial when he gets released he's like will you marry me and she's like yes and I'm like this is bananas and you know if it was just boring too like nothing really happens until the end the big plot twist wasn't really interesting it never really baffled me the whole book was kind of boring in my opinion it just could have been so much more they could have elongated the letters they could have elongated a really intense investigation but it just wasn't it for me and that's just yeah that's just me I just did not love it I really did and so two out of five we're going to move on because I don't like the bash books we all know this moving on to Riley Sager's newest book middle of the night I have read all of Riley Sager's books I've even done an author video strictly on his books I really enjoy them he's written some of my favorite Thrillers and I always look forward to reading his books there's never not going to be a book I think I'm not going to read by him I think a lot of us have you know books by authors that we love and some we don't love there are some authors I have given up on because I have the majority like 90% of their books I do not love rile Sager's not one of them I would say out of half of his books I've really enjoyed and the other half I've kind of not loved this is one I kind of didn't love surprisingly enough this is Riley seager's first time writing from a male perspective you heard that right like all I want to say like six of his previous books were all written from the female's perspective and I don't know if that made me love it less but it just didn't help it I think the setting also wasn't there Raley Sager is really good with settings he wrote a book in a haunted house he wrote a book in like a summer camp he wrote a book that was all about final girls he wrote a book that was in like a Gothic mansion like his settings are on point this one wasn't really it it's all about Suburbia if you will so we have a character named Ethan 30 years ago Ethan was 10 and he lives in this Big C sack in New Jersey like Suburban safe everything like that I'm not wearing any earrings oh well um and him and his best friend Billy who lives in next store would camp out in their tent every Friday night it was like kind of a tradition for them and then one night they do that and Ethan wakes up the next morning to see a huge gash in the tent and Billy missing and nobody has found him since now it is 30 years later Ethan is returning home because his parents are moving out so he has to store Affairs and he starts seeing and hearing some things that he's like maybe Billy is around or maybe I should solve what truly happened with Billy because nobody ever knows and that is all interesting and fine and dandy but nothing really significant happened I would say Raleigh Sager's books are thrilling yes but they're all about kind of the depict of characters especially and where they grew up and what settings they were in all of these characters are very intertwined because they grew up together they grew up in the Suburban neighborhood everyone had different friends things like that they all watched each other also I feel like Ry Sager also has a lot of books with a paranormal undertone sometimes that comes to fruition his books sometimes not this one had a strong paranormal undertone that somewhat came to fruition I was very much more interested in the subplot if you will with this like it reminded me so much of stranger things with this um kind of Institute that was near their backyard like past the woods in their backyard and strange things will be happening there is it a cult is it not I was so interested in that it reminded me of I forget what the freaking place was and stranger things it was literally like that like I was like oh this is so cool I was much more interested in that Ethan just he's got a lot of trauma that he has inflicted on because of this happened he has insomnia he can't sleep he can't trust anybody he doesn't want kids because of this and that's all truly understandable the big reveal comes it was okay I don't know I just can't pinpoint exactly there's a lot of little things why I didn't love this book but overall I give it a three out of five it's nothing horrible about it I didn't loathe it by any means nor did I love it it was kind of I would say right smack dab in the middle for me for Riley Sager books if you want to know my favorite of his of all time is home before dark I love that one just wasn't it for me but I will still continue to read R Sager because I enjoy him and the last book I want to talk about is the midnight Feast by Lucy Foley so what's interesting about this when I set out to read these three books I read them in the session I was like I want to do this video in particular like three new Thrillers are they worth it or not I always have this notion or these thoughts of like what I'm going to rate them before I read them just of how my previous reading goes if you were to asked me before I read all these I would have said my favorite probably would have been middle of the night and then one after that that I think I would have really love was love letters to a serial killer and the one I thought I was really just not going to like is the midnight Fe it just goes to show you do not expect anything when you go into books because they are always a constant surprise it turns out Lo Kind of Love Letters to Sil killer this one was like uh and I thoroughly enjoyed the midnight Feast which I was not expecting Lucy Foley is a very popular thriller author and my track record with her I have read I'm going to say four of her books loved one of them the guest list five out of five my one of my favorite Thrillers of all time I've read two more of hers after that maybe maybe three did not like them so I was almost thinking about hanging up my cap on her I was like it's just not really turning out that well and then the midnight feast and I freaking loved it it's not a five out of five for me but I really enjoyed it Agatha Christi at the beginning of the book you know someone has died you don't know who and you don't know who did it so you're trying to figure all that out together meanwhile you have many different layers of the story that goes on she writes from a ton of character's point of views it's a little bit jarring at first but when you get in the mingle like if you get used to it when you get if you keep reading it you'll get used to it so this I how do I explain this it's about I want to say it's in either England or Ireland it's sat in this very small place called I don't know where um I don't know where exactly it is but it's like a very small town and they're very very devoted to the town but basically they're opening The Manor which is kind of a very luxury resort they have a pool they have these Forest places it's just like kind of um spiritual you can um do a lot of healing I don't know how to explain it just think of like really rich Resorts where it's all about crystals and things like that and you'll picture The Manor if you will so they're opening up in this town and the locals are not happy about this they're like this is our town we use these Woods all the time you can't just make this private property so that's kind of the interlocking the whole background of this book it's this big Manor it's the weekend this book takes place in literally like 3 days and from there we follow a schw of people we follow Franchesca who is the owner of the manor who is opening it up we follow Bella who is coming here with a lot of past and you also get to see her journal entries of when she was first here like on this is it an island I don't know this town like 15 years ago and things that had have happened we follow the police investigator after this when they're uncovering things bit by bit of of what exactly happened during the solstice because they're having this thing called the midnight Feast where they all dressed in like ethereal like mid sumon a mid suire I don't know how you pronounce that that movie where they all dress like that and um it and he's kind of uncovering it we follow one of the workers that works there we follow gosh who else do we follow we follow the husband of Franchesca who is the owner um I think that's it there's a lot I know that's a lot it's a lot their chapters are short trust me you will fly through it what I love about this is it reminded me very much of the guest list where I feel like you can predict Lucy Foley's formula like no characters written just to be there they have a purpose they have a backstory you have to kind of think about it and while I predicted some of it I didn't predict a lot of it so I really enjoyed the ending how it was kind of all fruition you learn about people and things like that there's also this creepy background of these characters called the birds where they say that these birds come like these humanized birds and they will come to extract Vengeance on bad things that have happened in this town if you've done bad things and it's just kind of creepy and ominous that's I know I'm really butchering it explaining this plot but I thoroughly loved it I would give it a four out of five definitely my favorite book of hers after the guest list because I let me tell you what she writes unlikable characters a th% The Hunting Party by her loved it so much I think it was the Paris apartment didn't like it the guest list all the characters straight up horrible but I still loved it this one had a lot of really bad characters but some good ones but I would recommend it I think it was fun it was fast it was thrilling it was only 350 Pages that's a super quick thriller so I would recommend it thoughts and feelings on these three books matching the other one I'm hold but I would love to know if I inspired you to read them inspired you not to read them if you've read them what are your thoughts do you disagree with me totally okay to do so but I would love to know as always thank you so much for watching and I will see you in my next video byehello everyone my name is Heather and welcome to the channel bookables hey I'm here to do another review today I'm talking about three brand new
