**The Samsung Note 7: A Comprehensive Review**
After using the Samsung Note 7 extensively, I've been getting a ton of questions about specifics about this device. In this article, I'll answer some of these common queries to help you decide if the Note 7 is the right phone for you.
**Pocketability and Handling**
Big problem with the Note 5 was that it was brick-like in size due to its S Pen design. Samsung has addressed this issue by making the current generation of Note phones more pocketable, although it ultimately depends on your pants. I found that in my normal jeans, the phone is not much larger than any other device I've used recently. When using it with one hand, there's no problem at all. However, Samsung does have one-handed modes to sort of move content over to the right side of the screen, making it easier to use with one hand.
**Battery Life**
Battery life is probably the weakest part of the phone. I generally charge my device once throughout the day just to ensure I still have 100% battery when I get home. If you don't charge your phone throughout the whole day, you'll be struggling for battery life. Samsung seems to know this and has implemented some modes that can help save battery life. For example, you can shut off features like haptic feedback and automatic downloading in the background. Be prepared to plug it in at least once a day if you want to avoid running out of power.
**Minor Tweaks**
Compared to the S7 and S7 Edge, the Note 7 has some changes in camera settings and tweaks in the settings menu. However, mostly it's exactly the same as those devices. I've been really hard on touchscreens in the past, but I'm actually using the Note 7 without any issues. In fact, I've been enjoying the tweaks that Samsung has made to the device.
**Durability**
I was surprised by how well the Note 7 holds up against wear and tear. During our review, I took the phone on vacation to the beach, where I intentionally submerged it in salt water to test its durability. To my surprise, it was totally fine after rinsing it out afterwards. The Gorilla Glass 5 screen held up well, and I didn't experience any scratches or damage.
**Performance**
One of the biggest questions people had was about lag. However, I've experienced no problems with lag myself. That being said, some users have reported issues with lag, particularly when switching between apps quickly. Other problems I've encountered include occasional crashes in certain apps, like Fandango, where I had to reboot my device multiple times.
**Conclusion**
Overall, I'm really happy with the Samsung Note 7. While it may not be perfect – battery life could be better and RAM would be appreciated – I'd definitely buy it again if needed. My experience with the device has been positive, and I've been enjoying its performance. As with any device, my opinions may change over time, but for now, I'm sticking with the Note 7 as my daily driver.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso I've been using the Galaxy Note 7 either in our review or the unit that I bought myself for AT&T for the better part of two and a half weeks if you didn't see our review We link to it here so you can check it out but I've been getting a ton of questions about specifics about the Note 7 so I figured let me answer your questions about the Note 7 as you decide whether or not it's the right phone for you big problem with the Note 5 it was brick in the S Pen Samsung will not let you put it in backwards this generation so not a worry so pocketable is going to depend on on your pants but for me in just normal dude jeans it's totally pocketable I don't notice it as really being any bigger than any other phone I've used recently as far as using it with one hand no problem at all but Samsung does have sort of one-handed modes in here to sort of move content over to the right side of the screen to make it a little bit easier for you so yes to both counts battery life is probably the weakest part of the phone I generally charge it once throughout the day just to make sure when I get home I still have 100% if you don't charge it throughout the whole day you're going to be struggling for battery life and Samsung seems like they know this they have some modes in there you can shut off some features that'll save battery life and it will last a lot longer we're going to lose some of the things like haptic feedback uh and automatic sort of downloading in the background so be prepared to plug it in if you can at least once a day other minor tweaks versus what's on the S7 the S7 Edge there's some changes in camera some changes to the settings menu but mostly it's exactly the same I've been really hard on touchs in the past but I'm actually using it on my Note 7 which is a weird thing to say usually I throw the Google Now launcher on there right away but I'm not minding at all I think the tweaks are actually relatively useful so during our review the Note 7 I was on vacation so actually I took this with me to the beach and you're not supposed to put it in salt water I did and it's okay as long as you rinse it out afterwards but it was totally fine I didn't submerge it fully on Water I just took it into the waves and it was no issues at all with it I rinsed it out and had not a single problem so you want to take it to the beach wouldn't worry I got some sand on it as well and wiped it right off I didn't have any scratching issues unless the Spen is something you absolutely have to have no I wouldn't upgrade so lag has been one of the biggest questions that I've had if you look at how much RAM the apps are using it is a huge amount of ram it's usually where the lag is going to come from a lot of folks have used the Note 7 have experienced lag uh I haven't had any problems with it at all all some problems I have had though that aren't really lag related sometimes I'll hit multitasking button it'll show no recent apps when I have many recent apps open uh and sometimes I'll have to reboot the device at least once a day to get things to function like I was trying to buy movie tickets over the weekend to go see Suicide Squad uh and the Fandango app wouldn't work I had to reboot the device it might be app specific um those are two problems at least that I've run into with the Note 7 so this is probably the second most popular question I've had the Note 7 is coded F in Gorilla Glass 5 I had sand on it and I've had no scratches on it at all but I have two friends that have both cracked their screens their own Todd Hazelton bought a device his cracked well in his pocket and I'm not entirely sure how that happened but while it was in his pocket his phone cracked another friend bought a device who had a very mild drop and that cracked the back so I guess not the most durable phone despite being Gorilla Glass 5 maybe that's why manufacturer moving away from glass I think the advice would be if you're worried about it probably pick up a case so a lot of questions about Note 7 if you didn't watch the review it boils down to this I like the phone so much I went and bought one and I don't really buy that many phones I've loved it I've been using as my daily driver I'm really happy with how it's performing but I wish it was a little bit better yeah wish it had a little better battery life I wish I had a little more RAM judging on how hungry Android apps are but I'd buy it again still I've been really happy with it I'll keep using it and over the next weeks or months my opinions change I'll be
