First Day of the Third VloggerFair

I've been working towards becoming a Content producer and advocate for a while now, and I'm excited to share my journey with you. As a solo practitioner, I've always tried to present myself and my ideas in a clear and concise manner. However, I realize that not everyone who interacts with me is familiar with the work I do, so I've been working on finding ways to make my content more accessible to a wider audience.

One of the biggest challenges I face is figuring out how to effectively communicate my vision for the future of my career. As someone who has experience in this field, I know that there's an inherent need for others to have guidance and support as they navigate their own journeys. That's why I've been working hard to develop a sense of self-awareness and confidence in my abilities. I'm learning to trust myself and my instincts, and to focus on creating content that resonates with my target audience.

I've also been exploring different ways to engage with my community and build relationships with like-minded individuals. As someone who is passionate about sharing stories and experiences, I know that connection and community are essential components of any successful venture. That's why I'm always looking for new ways to connect with others, whether it's through social media, in-person events, or online forums.

One of the most significant changes I've made recently is rebranding my channel as "Geek Father." This name reflects my personality and style, and I'm excited to see how it will resonate with my audience. As a geek father, I'm all about embracing my inner nerd and sharing that passion with others. I'm looking forward to exploring new ideas and topics, and to connecting with others who share my interests.

I've also been experimenting with different formats and styles of content, including vlogging and live streaming. While these formats can be challenging to execute, I believe they offer a unique opportunity for connection and community-building. As someone who is passionate about sharing their experiences and insights, I know that these formats allow me to be more authentic and relatable.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my journey as a content producer has been building relationships with others in my community. Whether it's through social media, online forums, or in-person events, I've been working hard to create spaces for connection and collaboration. These relationships have been invaluable in helping me grow and learn as a creator, and I'm grateful for the support and encouragement I've received from so many wonderful individuals.

As I look to the future, I'm excited to continue exploring new ideas and formats for my content. Whether it's through vlogging, live streaming, or other formats, I'm committed to creating high-quality content that resonates with my audience. I'm also looking forward to collaborating with others in my community, and to building on the relationships we've established over time.

One of the most significant insights I've gained from my journey as a content producer is the importance of embracing imperfection and uncertainty. As someone who is passionate about creating high-quality content, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that everything must be perfect all the time. However, I've come to realize that this approach can be limiting and restrictive, stifling creativity and innovation.

Instead, I'm learning to focus on the process itself, rather than the end result. This means embracing uncertainty and imperfection, and being open to new ideas and approaches. By doing so, I'm able to stay curious and engaged, and to continue growing and learning as a creator.

As I look back on my journey, I'm struck by the importance of patience and self-compassion. As someone who is passionate about creating high-quality content, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that everything must be done quickly and efficiently. However, I've come to realize that this approach can be damaging, leading to burnout and exhaustion.

Instead, I'm learning to take a more relaxed approach, focusing on making progress rather than achieving perfection. By doing so, I'm able to stay energized and motivated, even in the face of challenges and setbacks. And I'm grateful for the support and encouragement I've received from others, who have helped me stay grounded and focused.

As I move forward, I'm excited to continue exploring new ideas and formats for my content. Whether it's through vlogging, live streaming, or other formats, I'm committed to creating high-quality content that resonates with my audience. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my story and connect with others in my community.

One of the most significant observations I've made during my journey as a content producer is the importance of recognizing and respecting others' boundaries and preferences. As someone who is passionate about sharing their experiences and insights, it's easy to get caught up in the idea that everyone wants to hear what you have to say. However, I've come to realize that this approach can be limiting and exclusive, stifling creativity and innovation.

Instead, I'm learning to prioritize connection and community-building over personal expression and validation. By doing so, I'm able to create spaces for others to share their own stories and experiences, and to build meaningful relationships with like-minded individuals. And I'm grateful for the support and encouragement I've received from others, who have helped me stay focused on what truly matters.

As I look to the future, I'm excited to continue exploring new ideas and formats for my content. Whether it's through vlogging, live streaming, or other formats, I'm committed to creating high-quality content that resonates with my audience. And I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my story and connect with others in my community.

As I look to the future

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI'm tired and I'm not the only one who's tired but that's okay because I'm going to provide an update with the rest of the energy that I have in me right now you have no idea like I'm not like Jedi who can be what I thought you said something no I didn't now I'm hearing voices I've been up since this is how tired I am I I I don't even have my watch on anymore I've been up since it was dark and it's dark again and I got to be up again when it's dark still uh it was a good day the first day of the third vlogger Fair it is likely setting the stage for future vlogger Fair events it was all about the Creator that was a good direction to turn we took some feedback and suggestions based on last year's experience and seemed to have turned that into gold thanks in large part to Liz for spearheading that we figured we needed to do something like that this is really the first time that we did a day dedicated to the creators now the rest of the weekend is for the creators and the sponsors and the community and everything else yeah I had lots of people come up to me and say that they hope that we do this again next year I have to regain my energy though before that happens I'm not going to like do it like every weekend I don't think I can do that I'm energized that's good and there were good experiences the best thing that I experienced today was not the positive feedback so much but knowing that when we were in the middle of an activity a planned activity people didn't want to stop and the conversations that happened are the best part of any event because they're not planned for no one knows they're going to happen oh she's tired she's tired she's tired and time she seems to have way more energy than daddy does so if she's tired can I borrow some blah just a little uh what are you headbanging here what is this so we would often find ourselves having to break up conversations not wanting to but having to move out of various parts of the venue experience like lunch was in the place where we're going to be having vlogger fair for the rest of the weekend and they weren't done setting up we had to move everybody out and that was frustrating it was slightly maddening because no one wanted to leave everyone was caught up in conversation and that's good it's a good group of people they wanted to be there and they lost track of time and this happened over and over again we had to shut all everybody out of the venue at the end of the day because they were staging an opera this evening and then at the party the same thing happened people wouldn't stop talking but that's great that's what you want as an event producer that says everything it's the events that happen outside the schedule of events did I say that right I'm at the point now where I've said a word that I think I said correctly but I don't know if I said it the same way that I heard it yeah we'll see everybody tomorrow I think that's the sign that's not very subtle here here's another sign oh I'm going to take her in there okay it's taking to a long okay I'm sorry I have a tendency to talk I try to present my ideas of where I wanted to take ferir and what I plan on doing with my own career career and going from a solo practitioner to a Content producer advocate of sorts that was my best way of explaining where I am and where I'm going knowing full well that a lot of the people who go to blog repair don't necessarily watch the things that I do and I'm fine with that I'm totally okay with that because I'm still creating something that they could appreciate and I'm still going to do what it is that I plan on doing but figuring out how to get it done is now uh the next challenge for me I know that there is this inherent need for someone who has had experience to be able to help others in such a way that it is mutually beneficial and I've done this in the past here in in there but never really with uh a drive close to what I have today I probably shouldn't be talking to you right now I should be sleeping but you really deserve the update because you're paying attention and I just wanted to let everybody know that I've done my best to make things easy across the board and I tried to fix problems and and potentially made certain problems worse and that's why the Vlog got the reboot with the label geeka as a hashtag I'm going to play to who I am and what I like to do I like doing vlogger Fair uh I I really like the experience the intimacy of this type of event today and am seeking to do it again and it could very well happen happen more than once a year and more than just Seattle but that's just the idea it has nothing to do with the execution that's everything the execution is everything and I think we executed well today but that's not based on my feedback it's based on what other people said at least to me and that's usually how I feel about something that I've done instead of you asking me how I feel about something sometimes I will tell you to talk to other people and find out how they feel about something cuz that's a reflection of me and what we tried to do and put together and for all intents and purposes I I think we're we're we're doing okay and as I've said before smaller is bigger and uh I'm okay with that I'm quite okay with that it's a smaller uh Community or a subset of community that will be able to Foster and help flourish I'll feel successful when when I can help others succeed in places where I have not or cannot that's my success in helping other people become successful and hopefully I'll be successful in toe but those are the stories I hear and uh that's uplifting ow before I injure myself or trip over any more words in this particular raw Vlog which I haven't shot in a while I'm not even sure how long it's being shot thank you again for your support your patience your attention in every way whether or not you're ever able to support vlogger Fair directly or indirectly it's it's been a part of this greater experience of sharing stories our story and uh I couldn't have done it without you as a part of the community whether or not you just started watching I think Diana left her phone in here I heard something buzzing it wasn't me um if you watch what it is that we do over a period of time you kind of become a part of our extended family like a virtual aunt or Uncle because you're you're there and you're watching and it's generally a supportive type of behavior oh another funny observation I had today people recognized Diana for her Periscope she's like on Periscope not all the time but they apparently know well enough to say oh yeah I see you on Periscope it's so bizarre she was even surprised so Diana and Periscope apparently go hand inand that's fine that's the only uh video medium she's ever really wanted to use ever ever and uh we hope to be doing more periscoping uh together in the classic newer pillo vogs Channel now that uh now that geek father is the new label for the Vlog since that best describes me and the geek father is tired and the geek father is is ready for a full weekend of vlogger fair and the geek father is very excited for the future of both and uh very happy that uh you could spend the time listening to an old man ramble I'm an old man yeah being north of 40 on YouTube decrepit I know that's a word but doesn't make any sense though decrepit it's like when you're not able to move your feeble right I should not use big words this late at night thank you everybody I think I'm done today and I've got
