The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is a revolutionary tablet that offers a unique desktop-like experience through its Samsung Dex feature. This innovative technology allows users to transform their tablet into a powerful computing device, complete with a taskbar, multi-window mode, and familiar gestures such as drag and drop.
One of the standout features of the Samsung Dex experience is its ability to work seamlessly without an external monitor. In traditional Samsung Galaxy devices, users would need to connect a dock to use the Dex feature, but with the Tab S4, this requirement is eliminated. This makes it possible for users to access the full range of Dex features, including the taskbar and multi-window mode, without the need for any additional hardware.
To test out the Samsung Dex experience on the Tab S4, we found that pulling down on the quick toggles menu revealed a Samsung Dex option. Pressing this button activated Dex mode, which allowed us to access the tablet's desktop-like interface. Even without a mouse or keyboard, the Dex experience proved to be surprisingly robust and intuitive.
One of the key features of the Dex experience is its ability to integrate with other smart devices in the home. For example, users can control their home appliances and other smart devices using Bixby voice and vision. This seamless integration makes the Tab S4 an attractive option for those looking for a device that can handle both mobile and computing tasks.
The Samsung Dex experience is not limited to simply accessing desktop-like features, however. The Tab S4 also comes with advanced pen capabilities, including support for the S-pen stylus. This allows users to create complex artwork or take detailed notes using the stylus's precise tip. While some may find that their handwriting isn't as accurate on the S-pen as it is with a traditional writing instrument, others will appreciate the convenience and flexibility of being able to use the pen without having to worry about compatibility issues.
In terms of hardware, the Tab S4 boasts impressive specs, including an 8.0-inch display, quad-core processor, and 6GB of RAM. The device also comes with a range of storage options, from 64GB to 256GB, depending on the region. While the price point may be slightly higher than some competing devices, such as the iPad Pro, the inclusion of the S-pen stylus makes it an attractive option for those willing to invest in this advanced feature.
One notable omission is the lack of a dedicated Bixby button on the Tab S4. While Bixby voice and vision are still available, users will need to rely on other methods to access these features. However, this may not be a major concern for many users, who will appreciate the convenience of being able to control their smart devices without having to resort to manual input.
Finally, it's worth noting that the Tab S4 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, and users can also take advantage of Samsung's proprietary software features, such as Smart Switch and Samsung Pay. The device is available in a range of colors and storage options, and prices start at around $649 for the 64GB Wi-Fi model.
For those looking to experience the best of both mobile and computing worlds, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is an exciting option to consider. While it may not have all the features of a traditional laptop, its Samsung Dex feature and advanced pen capabilities make it an attractive choice for those willing to invest in this innovative technology.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- What's up guys?Saf here on SuperSaf TV,and we've got a veryspecial unboxing today. This package just camea couple of hours ago,and it's from Samsung.I'm really excited tosee what's inside it,and I'm sure you're reallyexcited to see what's inside. So let's get straight to it.So it's a plain, glossy, black box, with a black ribbon.Alright, ready for it?Let's do this.(electro music)Alright. So, as you can see fromthis little leaflet in here,It is, of course, theSamsung Galaxy Tab S4.Now this was justannounced a few days ago,and I believe this is oneof the first unboxingsof the Tab S4 on YouTube. So, a thumbs up for thatwould be appreciated.Introducing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4.Built for all day productivity on the go.Optimizing entertainmentand a smart life at home.Very nicely packed, I've to say.And here it is, The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4.You can see here on the side, it saysS-pen, Super AMOLED, 64GB,which is the based storage. And this version has LTE,there's also a Wifi-onlyversion available.Quick full details herewhere you can pause and read. But of course, we will begoing all over these in detailas we unbox the device.Alright let's do this.Feels very good. We'll put that to the sideand see what else we got inside the box.So most of the stuff inside the boxis pretty straight forward. We've got some paperwork,we've got a USB type A,a USB type C cable, and an adaptor which doessupport fast charging, and you can charge this thingfully in around 3.5 hours, which is impressive consideringthe size of the batteryon the Tab S4,which is around 7300 MHand good for up to 16hours of video playback. And finally, we have the S-pen.Now the S-pen is included here,I know other tablets do not include a pen,and it's pretty cool. We've got a button hereand feels really niceand light in the hand. And you do also get a tool toreplace the tip of the S-pen,and you've got some spare tips as well.Alright, so let's getthis out of the sleeve. So we've got a metalframe with a glass panelson the front and back.Similar to what we had on the Tab S3,and I've already got lotsof finger prints on it.And on the front we have what isthe stand out featureand that is this massive 10.5inch, Super AMOLED display. It's got a 16 by 10 aspect ratio,a 2560 by 1600 pixel resolution. So that's roughly about 287 ppi, very comparable to the iPad Pro,and you also notice that the bezelshave shrunk massively comparedto what we had last year. And a lot of people wantto go completely infinity. But that doesn't reallymake sense on a tablet. This is something that I always talk aboutbecause with the tablet, you actually need somewhere to hold ontobecause of the size of it.I would say this is the perfect balancein terms of screen to body ratiofor a tablet.Just quickly bringing inthe Samsung Galaxy TabS3 here for a comparison, you can see the top and bottombezels are much more adhereon the Tab S4.We have a bigger display 10.5inches versus 9.7 inches.Although the tablet overalldoesn't seem too much largercompared to the Tab S3.Now those smaller bezels do mean thatwe no longer have a home buttonand that's because wenow have an iris scanneras well as facial recognition, which is what you're going to be usingto unlock this device, rather than a finger print scanner. Now of course becausethis is a high resolution,Super AMOLED display, colors are vibrant, details are sharp, viewing angles are greatand I don't think anybodygoing to have any complaintswith the display of the Tab S4.We've got an eight megapixel cameraat the front and a 13megapixel at the back, capable of recording 4K video.Although I personally never usethe rear facing camera on the tablet, but the front facingcamera is definitely usefulfor conference callingand things like that. Now let's talk about the internals. This has the QualcommSnapdragon 835 processor, not the 845,and four gigabytes of RAM.Now because of the multitaskingability of this tablet,I personally was expecting more. The 845 would have been greatand six or even maybeeight gigabytes of RAMwhich we all seen on many minismartphones these days too.But I've just unboxed this,so I can't really commenttoo much on the performanceof course, that's somethingthat we'll have to lookat a later stageand really see how thishandles multitasking.Storage wise you've gota base of 64 gigabytesbut you can get a 256gigabyte version as wellat a higher price. But you do have a microSD card slotwhich is going to allow you to expand thisby up to 400 gigabytes. Now taking a look aroundon the right hand side,we've got the power buttonas well as the volume rocker. On the same card tray which also has spacefor the microSD card.On the left hand side, you do have some connectorswhich can be use foraccessories and docks. At the bottom is USB type C input,we've got a 3.5 millimeter headphone jackand then we got two speakers at the bottomand we've got two speakers at the top.Now this speakers are tuned by AKG anddo support Dolby Atmosand it sound pretty good.Right now what separates this tabletfrom lots of the other tablets out there,is a unique feature here, and that is Samsung Dex on a tablet. This is the first time we haveSamsung Dex on the tablet. Now for those of you guys who don't knowSamsung Dex allows you to use your devicein desktop mode and thiswill give you thingslike a taskbar, multi-windowas well as familiar gestures, such as drag and drop, now traditionally, withthe Samsung galaxy devices, you'd have to have a dock, which you have to put it onand then connect it toan external monitor. With the Tab S4,you do not need to connectit to an external monitorin order to be able to use Dex.So let's go ahead and test this out.We will go in landscape mode. Now if you pull down in the quick toggles,we do have a Samsung Dex option, and when we press thatwe are now in Dex mode.Use Samsung Dex even withouta mouse, and keyboard.Ideally the best experiencewill be with a mouse and keyboardbut if you don't want to do that, you can use this independently.Do more with your S-pen,use your S-pen to write,or draw on your favorite appsand you can also use itlike a mouse to select thingsor drag them around the screen. And here we are on Samsung Dex,which is really cool.So we've got all thecontrols here at the bottom. And if I open up a few apps here, you'll see that we now have windowswhich we can drag around. Now as mentioned, thisis going to work bestwith a mouse and keyboardif you want to use itin this desktop mode. There is a keyboard dockwhich is sold separately.I think is about a 120 poundsor 150 dollars. You can still now connectthis to an external displayusing an adaptor which is not included. So you will have to buy that separately, that's HDMI to USB type C multiple port. And that will basically allow you toextend your display onto a larger screen. But also use the Tab S4 as a track pador a sketch pad. This makes things really interestingbecause if you are business userand you're going to be traveling a lotand you want that best of experienceyou can be able to get thatin the Tablet 4but if you do want to connect it ontoan external display, you'll have the option to do thatwithout having to carry arounda massive dock.Switching off desk modeis simply a case ofjust tapping the icon and thenyou'll be back to yournormal Android experience. And this does come with Android8.1 OREO out of the box.Now this S-pen works great as usual, very very responsive.Very fast and accurate, but unfortunately my handwritingisn't as accurate as the S-pen.But anyway this S-pendoes not have Bluetoothlike the Samsung GalaxyNote 9 is rumored to have.So you're only going to be able to use itas you have been doing it traditionally. You're not going to have theadvance Bluetooth featuresthat the Note 9 is rumored to have. The Tab S4 also comes with Bixby. So you've got Bixby voice, Bixby vision, and it's also going to be integratedwith all other smart things with Samsung. So you're going to be ableto do a control your homeappliances and things. However, there's no dedicated Bixby buttonwhich I know a lot of youguys would be please about. Now finally looking at the price, this is going to be startingat 600 pounds in the U.K.,that's for 64 gigabyte, base Wifi model.Well 649 dollars in the U.S.,and for the 4G LTE model, prices will be starting ataround 650 pounds in the U.K..Not that's something pretty comparablewith something like the iPad Pro,and with the iPad Pro,you do not get the pen included, you do have to buy that separately. With this, you do get it included. So that has make it quite competitive. So there you have it guys, that is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4.What do you guys think of it?Definitely drop me a comment belowand let me know your thoughts.I think it's a very interesting tablet.Traditionally I don't use tablets muchbut because of the Dex functionality, and if I do get the dockthen I can kind of see myself using this, especially when I'm traveling. But of course, I'll letyou know how I get onas I use this thing more.I hope you enjoy thisvideo and found it useful. If you did then please do hitthat thumbs up button for me.If you haven't alreadythen be sure to subscribeand switch on notifications. We've got a lots morecontent coming up on here. Thanks for watching! This is Saf on SuperSaf TV,I'll see you next time.(electro
