**DIY Cat Toys: A Fun and Easy Guide**
If you're a cat lover like us, then you know that cats need stimulation and entertainment to stay happy and healthy. One way to provide your feline friend with fun and exercise is by making DIY cat toys. In this article, we'll show you how to make five easy and creative DIY cat toys using household items.
**Toilet Paper Roll Toy**
The first DIY cat toy we'll show you how to make is a simple toilet paper roll toy. You'll need a toilet paper roll, scissors, and some patience. Start by cutting about a half-inch wide strip along the length of the toilet paper roll. This will help create a fun texture for your cat to play with. Cut four or five rings from the toilet paper roll and set them aside. Next, start assembling the rings by placing one over the other, adding another ring, and continuing to add more rings until you have a nice ball shape. Finally, add some of your cat's favorite treats, such as kibble or dried chicken, inside the ball to make it even more enticing.
**Coat Hanger Toy**
For our second DIY cat toy, we'll use an old coat hanger and some wire cutters. Start by straightening out the coat hanger and clipping off the hook end. This will give you a long piece of sturdy wire that your cat can play with. From this length of wire, measure out about 12 inches and make a cut. Tie one end of the wire to a small zip tie, making sure it's secure. Next, attach some feathers to the wire using the same zip tie. We used feathers for this toy because cats love to chase and pounce on them. Make sure to cover the ends of the wire with tape to prevent them from coming loose.
**Sock Toy**
Who hasn't lost a sock in the wash only to find it months later? Well, you can turn that lonely sock into a fun and entertaining toy for your cat. To make this toy, simply fill the sock with some dried catnip and tie the end shut using a zip tie. We found that cats love rubbing against the sock, rolling it on the ground, and even licking and chewing it. This toy is sure to provide hours of entertainment for your feline friend.
**Cardboard Tent**
For our final DIY cat toy, we'll need some cardboard and two coat hangers. Start by straightening out the coat hanger and clipping off the hook end. Use a pair of pliers to bend one end of the wire into a small triangle. This will create a sturdy corner for your cat tent. Repeat this process with the other coat hanger, creating another corner for your tent. Finally, cover the entire structure with a t-shirt or some other fabric material. We used our lion wearing headphones shirt and it turned out purr-fectly.
