This Challenge Didn't Go As Planned
**Fuel Economy Challenge: A Journey from Bologna to South Germany**
Welcome to Scene Through Glass! Today’s video is a bit different as we’re incorporating a challenge—a fuel economy challenge. This is my favorite type of challenge, and I’m sure it’s yours too. Unfortunately, Paul was destined to win this challenge, but this idea wasn’t mine. So, here we are, driving from Bologna in Italy to the South Germany Bavarian area below Munich. The entire journey is 463 km or 219 miles—yes, those stats were just made up for me, and they’re incredibly tight.
The most I’ve ever managed with my Jaguar is about 350 miles on one tank, so I’m not confident about making it without refueling. If either of us has to stop for fuel, we’ll get a 20-minute time penalty on top of the stopping time. It’s basically a race—a challenge more than anything.

**The Journey Begins**
I’m pretty sure I’m going to struggle with this journey on one tank, but I’m determined to try. Paul, give him the finger and drive off—this is a fuel economy challenge! *Tunnels are bad for fuel efficiency,* I mutter as we hit some traffic, which isn’t helping my Range at all. I’m down to 306 km on the Range with 423 km still to go. We haven’t gone that far yet, and so much has already happened.
Let’s check in with Paul. Paul, how much petrol do you have left? “I’ve lost one bar,” he says, “and it’s telling me I’ve got 320 miles left.” That’s impressive! What about you? *I’ve got 306 km on the Range,* and I’m trying to figure out how to get away from him as soon as we’re out of traffic. I need to floor it—no matter what, I’ll have to refuel eventually.

**Mid-Journey Update**
Here’s an update for you: *I’ve approached half a tank of petrol.* At the next petrol station, I’m stopping strategically to make it to the destination on one tank. The mountains all around me mean that soon, the motorway will twist and go uphill, eating into my fuel. So, I’ll fill up now.
*Looking for a petrol station now…* Here we go! That was the fastest pit stop I’ve ever seen. *It took about 12 minutes.* Back on the road, but I’m really bored. Fuel economy challenges suck—I mean, look at these epic views! I bet there are insane mountain roads up ahead. Snow over there? No kidding—this place is freaking beautiful.
For the third day in a row, I’ve found the greatest driving roads in the world. I’m now at a ski resort with a ski lift nearby. These roads through the Austrian Alps were supposed to be epic, but they turned out even better! I’m in the middle of nowhere, while Paul is probably on the motorway driving at 40 mph and getting great MPG. Little does he know that I’m on top of a mountain, like James Bond.

**Detour and Reflection**
I think I should head back to the motorway to see if I can recoup some time. I have no idea how I’ll explain being two hours late when I arrive. Let’s get back in the car and crack on—I’m just 5 minutes out from the hotel. But wait, my phone has been playing up with signal all day, so I haven’t been able to contact Paul. He might have already arrived unless something went wrong.
This hasn’t been the most traditional daily vlog, but hopefully, you’ve enjoyed it! Let’s track down Wallace PJW and see how his day was. How long have you been here? *About 2 seconds.* Okay, now you can focus—it’s in focus now. You should have been prepared with a multi-angle setup, but there’s just a GoPro. How long have you been here? Probably about two hours.

**Conclusion**
So, I took a little detour—I ended up in the mountains next to a ski lift and got so bored. Clearly, I’m not very good at fuel economy challenges! *I’ve filled up twice,* but that’s 40 minutes on a tank that only lasts two hours. I think I lost—badly—but Paul probably didn’t know. I don’t regret it, though—when you see the pictures, it’s outrageous!
I was on a ski lift and in the forest—it was beautiful! We’ve made it to the hotel in Germany. Check out Sam’s video—he’s just swearing at me right now. As for tomorrow, we’re headed back to Bologna but hoping for some epic Italian driving roads—another reason why Italy is better than France! You never know when you’ll come across a Lamborghini in the middle of nowhere.

**Final Thoughts**
This has been an unforgettable journey filled with challenges, breathtaking views, and unexpected detours. Despite the struggles with fuel efficiency, the experiences on the road have made it all worthwhile. Stay tuned for more exciting adventures in future videos!
