HTC Desire EYE and RE Launch Event Rundown

HTC's Latest Devices Are Now Available

The wait is finally over as HTC has made its latest devices available on the Play Store, and for iOS users, there's exciting news too! HTC has announced that its Zoe experience is now available on both Android and iOS platforms. This means that users with Apple iPhones can also enjoy creating highlights and sharing them with others through the HTC cloud.

Darcy Gets Hands-On Experience

I was fortunate to get a hands-on experience with the two devices, which I'll be reviewing in this article. The HTC Desire has been around for a few days now, and I've had the chance to play around with it. As its name suggests, the Desire is a flagship device that packs a punch. It's powered by the latest Snapdragon 801 processor, making it one of the fastest devices on the market.

Water Resistance and Excellent Camera

One of the standout features of the HTC Desire is its water resistance. This means that you can use your phone without worrying about it getting damaged in wet conditions. Additionally, the device boasts a 13-megapixel camera on both the rear and front sides. Yes, you read that right - the front-facing camera is just as capable as the rear one, making it perfect for selfies and vlogging.

The camera's quality is exceptional, with great photos and videos being captured. The LED flash and video capabilities make it ideal for capturing moments in low-light conditions. With 13 megapixels on both sides of the device, you can expect high-quality shots that will make your friends jealous.

The Desire Eye: A GoPro-Like Camera

But what about the HTC Desire Eye? This is a camera that's essentially a miniature version of a GoPro, designed to capture moments easily and conveniently. The device has a super-wide-angle lens with a 146° field of view, making it perfect for capturing landscapes or group shots. It also features a 2.8 aperture, which allows for great general-purpose photography.

However, the camera's performance in low-light conditions is a bit of a letdown. You'll need to adjust your settings and use good lighting conditions to get the best results. On the other hand, the device excels when it comes to capturing standard video, with 1080p resolution being available. Additionally, the device has 720p four times slow-motion video capture, making it perfect for sports enthusiasts.

The Form Factor: A Unique Design

One of the quirks of the HTC Desire Eye is its form factor. The device feels a bit odd in your hand, but that's intentional - it's designed to be easy to grip and use like a miniature camera. The top button allows you to quickly capture shots or record video, making it perfect for on-the-go photography.

The device also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to connect it with any device and access the camera app. However, the microSD card slot is located at the bottom of the device, which may be a bit inconvenient for some users.

Conclusion

That's all we have for now - a look at HTC's latest devices available in New York City. The Desire has proven to be an excellent choice for those looking for a flagship device with great camera capabilities and water resistance. As for the Desire Eye, it's a unique camera that may appeal to outdoor enthusiasts or photographers who want to capture moments easily.

We'll continue to bring you more coverage of these devices as they roll out and become available. Stay tuned to Android Authority for all your Android needs!
