My Summer Desk Tour of 2011: A Look Back at My Gear and Setup
Hey guys, what's up? It's Keen here with TechMart today, and we're going to be looking at my summer desk tour of 2011. Let's get started.
Over here, I have my trusty HP printer. This does the job for me, and I don't really need something too fancy to print a simple piece of paper and scan. It's not the most high-end printer out there, but it gets the job done, and that's all I need.
Coming over to my right, we have the blue microphone Yeti. This is an exceptionally well microphone, in my opinion. The audio quality is very crisp, and it has four patterns on it. I love this microphone because of its excellent sound quality, and I've used it for a lot of recording and video production.
Next to the microphone, we have my 15.4-inch Dell monitor. This isn't the nicest monitor out there, but like I said, it does get the job done. It shows me what I need, and that's all that matters. I've used this monitor for a lot of work and video production, and it's been reliable.
Moving on to my peripherals, we have my Logitech mx300 wireless keyboard. This keyboard is nice, and one of the newer features I've added to my desk is its wireless connectivity. I was getting tired of using my old G15 Logitech keyboard, which didn't fit as well in my hand. The keys are a lot shorter on this keyboard, so it's easier for me to type quickly.
When it comes to listening to music and watching videos, I have my Skull Candy 5050 earbuds. These earbuds are very good sounding, and they're small and portable. I have two pairs of these, which is pretty convenient for a guy like me who's always on the go.
Let's talk about cords. We have my USB hub over here, which has multiple ports that connect to different devices. The cable you see next to it goes into my Yeti microphone, while the main cable pulls out and connects to my camera. Speaking of cameras, we have a bunch of cables connecting my laptop to all sorts of devices.
At the heart of everything is my motherboard. I don't mean the motherboard as one of those big desktop computers; this is the laptop that powers my entire operation. It's what runs the monitor next to it and provides power for all the other devices on my desk.
We also have my Apple charger 30-pin charger, which is used to charge my iPhone. Coming down from there, we see my Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard both running off a single wireless accessory. This makes it easy to switch between devices without having to deal with any complicated cables.
On the side of my desk, I have a Scats wrist guard, which also happens to be a mouse pad. It's a nice touch, as it provides me with some extra comfort and protection while I'm working or gaming.
Now, let's talk about my favorite piece on this desk: my camera slider. I built this from scratch with the help of my dad, who spent about three hours helping me design and construct the thing. The wood under it was just an idea to boost it up a little bit, but in the end, we ended up using PVC pipes instead.
The camera slider is where my camera screws in, and it allows for smooth panning and tilting. We used this on our last video shoot with Backyard Effects, but unfortunately, their video didn't come out as well as we had hoped because they didn't have the parts we needed at Home Depot. Despite that, I'm pretty proud of what we accomplished.
That's my desk tour for you guys. I hope you enjoyed it!
