The Weightless 17-inch Laptop!

The ER Architecture: A Comprehensive Review of the LG Gram 17-Inch Laptop

The LG Gram 17-inch laptop is a powerhouse of performance, featuring a quad-core processor with a boost clock of up to 3.9 gigahertz. This impressive processing power is complemented by Intel's Gen 11 graphics, which offer double the performance of its predecessor, the Gen 9. The addition of integrated graphics on this model makes it an attractive option for users who want to play games or engage in other resource-intensive activities. While not designed specifically as a gaming laptop, the LG Gram 17-inch can handle lightweight games and low-to-medium settings with ease.

In terms of integrated graphics, Intel's Iris Plus technology is a significant upgrade from previous generations. This means that users can enjoy smoother performance and better visuals while still maintaining the device's portability and power efficiency. The LG Gram 17-inch laptop is an excellent choice for those who need a reliable machine for everyday tasks, creative work, or streaming media.

The RAM on this laptop is another notable feature. With up to 24 gigabytes of DDR4 memory clocked at 3200 megahertz, it's clear that LG prioritized speed and capacity in the design of this device. This rapid storage provides users with a seamless experience, making it ideal for applications such as video editing or photo work. Additionally, the presence of LPDDR4 memory is noteworthy, as it consumes less power than DDR4 while still delivering impressive performance.

The storage on the LG Gram 17-inch laptop is equally impressive, featuring two NVMe flash storage slots that can be expanded to create a massive storage capacity for users who require it. This feature is particularly useful for those who need to store large files or work with high-resolution content. With this level of storage available, users can enjoy uninterrupted workflow and seamless performance.

One of the most distinctive features of the LG Gram 17-inch laptop is its port selection. The device boasts an impressive array of ports, including a Thunderbolt 3 port, USB 3.1 Gen2, HDMI, charging port, two more USB-A ports, headphone jack, and micro SD card slot. This comprehensive set of ports makes it easy to connect peripherals, expand storage capacity, or transfer data between devices.

The inclusion of the Thunderbolt 3 port is particularly noteworthy, as it enables users to connect to high-resolution displays, external GPUs, or other accessories that require this technology. With a single cable, users can unlock access to a world of features and capabilities that would be difficult or impossible to achieve with standard ports alone. The LG Gram 17-inch laptop's Thunderbolt 3 port is an invaluable asset for those who want to stay productive and creative on the go.

In terms of display quality, the LG Gram 17-inch laptop delivers impressive results. Featuring a 2560 x 1600 IPS display with 96% sRGB coverage and approximately 300 nits of brightness, this screen offers exceptional color accuracy and contrast. The 16:10 aspect ratio also provides more vertical space than traditional 60 by 9 inch displays, making it ideal for users who prefer to work in taller formats.

The keyboard on the LG Gram 17-inch laptop is equally impressive, boasting a frameless design with backlighting and a responsive typing experience. Additionally, the power button features a fingerprint scanner, adding an extra layer of security to the device's performance and data protection.

Finally, it's worth noting that the LG Gram 17-inch laptop includes support for Wi-Fi 6, ensuring seamless connectivity and stable networking performance even in crowded environments. This feature is particularly useful for users who need to stay online while working or streaming media on the go.

In conclusion, the LG Gram 17-inch laptop represents an exceptional blend of performance, portability, and value that sets it apart from its competitors. With its powerful processor, high-quality display, comprehensive ports, and robust storage, this device is well-suited for a wide range of users who require reliability, productivity, or creative capabilities. Whether used for work, leisure, or gaming, the LG Gram 17-inch laptop is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a lightweight yet capable machine that delivers exceptional results.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis video is sponsored by LG so I have this really interesting package in front of me this massive box that was sent to me by LG sucker yet himself so yeah the actual LG HQ I'm pretty excited to show you what's inside because this is an extremely unique product also this part of the video the unboxing will be fully unscripted so this will be my live reaction so yeah let's open this baby up and see what's inside okay so let's begin the unboxing procedures I'm just gonna remove this piece of paper because it's kind of a spoiler of what might be inside this box so we have Graham on the front of the box I wonder what's that my before we also have the sticker which kind of gives everything away I tried removing this by doing but uh it was quite difficult on the top we have LG Graham then let's see on the side same thing and on the bottom same thing so you can probably tell that this is one of LG's brand new LG Graham laptops okay so let me just open up the box itself put us to the side so this is the actual laptop but let's take a look at the accessories first so what do we get here okay so this is a 48 watt power adapter okay next up we get the power cable which in this case this is the US version and then finally we also get as tiny adapter which is actually a USB type-c to guess what Ethernet adapter this is quite interesting you don't really see laptops that come with this adapter in the box it's usually USB type-c you guys beat I paid but this is USB type-c 2 Ethernet yeah pretty awesome thanks he'll Jeanne okay now let's take a look at the laptop itself so the whole idea of this laptop is if you wanna get a 17 inch laptop those laptops are pretty massive and heavy and they're usually gaming laptops so what if you want to get a laptop that's extremely portable but also has a massive display and this is what the LG grab line is all about okay so let me just lift this up oh okay holy smokes okay this is like wow okay this thing is it feels like it's just a piece of plastic that's empty inside it's crazy crazy lights and by the way guys this is a 17 inch laptop okay so let me just remove the plastic wrap also remove the plastic foil on the lid that's nice and yeah there we go this is it this is the 17 inch LG Graham 2020 this is it this is the laptop so let me just remove the screen protector oh man this thing is crazy lights like just look at that this is a 17 inch laptop and I can basically hold it with one finger how insane is that this is crazy like honestly it feels like it's empty inside keyword is pretty good okay well obviously I want to set us up and actually use it for a bit but yeah so far first impressions this thing is crazy lights this is a magnesium alloy by the way so it's not plastic so it feels very durable a crazy light 17 inch laptop so once again if you're looking for a very very thin and a very light laptop that has a massive display but it's not a gaming laptop in terms of weight and size then this is pretty much a this is the 17 inch LG ground 2020 so let's get this set up and basically start using it and then I'll give you guys my actual first impressions after using this for a bit okay so the LG gram is now fully setup and here's what makes this laptop so so special and number one we have the weight so if you want to buy a laptop today it's usually like this thirty inch laptops are by far the most portable ones but are also quite weak they don't have the decay GPU they're mostly just for browsing the web and for things such as Excel and word most of them anyways 50 inch laptops on the other hand they're way way more powerful they come with the dedicate GPU some with even eight core processors and you can pretty much do anything you want with those from three modeling to video anything to gaming so yeah they're there grades 17 inch laptops on the other hand they're essentially the next level but up until now they have always being a more like desktops an actual laptop so they were gigantic with massive cooling systems extremely powerful GPUs in order to satisfy the most demanding game out there whoever did it have one major issue and that was the portability I mean yes you could carry these in a bag but they were extremely heavy some even at four plus kilograms they were extremely thick with a horrible battery life of just two to three hours or even less so yeah there were more like desktops that would fit here in pack but once you got to the office or home you would take them out you would plug them back into power and use them like any other desktop so what if your business user a non gamer that wants a large display something that's much larger than a 13-inch laptop but he's still one the same portability as a 13-inch laptop well there wasn't anything like that on the market up until well up until now so this is LG's 17 inch gram laptop their gram line of laptops is an entire series so it have a 14 inch model they have a 14 inch two-in-one model a 15 inch model and this is the brand new 17 inch model as well and the whole point of the LG gram is that it's extremely extremely light making it very easy to carry around I mean take a look at this you can hopefully tell how light this thing is I can I mean I can actually hold it with two fingers which I can't even do with a 13-inch MacBook Pro this thing is crazy like it feels hollow inside but it's actually it's actually not so the 17-inch LG grab only weighs 1.3 kilograms so that is actually lighter than a 13-inch MacBook Pro but this one has a gigantic 17 inch display but wait how is this even possible well LG is actually using a nano carbon magnesium alloy in order to make this laptop so so light in fact it even feels lighter than it is since because of its larger size the weight is more evenly distributed also this left up is so lights that when I got a box I thought it was just some paperwork and no way a laptop just because I could barely even feel anything inside like honestly this feels like one of those store models that are just made out of plastic and there's nothing inside but this is magnesium and yeah there's a lot of stuff inside so if you don't care about gaming and you want the most portable large screen laptop the ultra gram 17 is by far the best option that's great Daniel but what about the battery life and of course the performance well the better life is actually pretty impressive so we know yet an 80 watts our battery up from the 72 wall tower that we got last year now keep in mind that this is not our review of the LG grab 17 it's pretty much a showcase so I can't really talk about how long it lasted for me because I've only had you know a bit of time to use it but LG claims that it should last you for about 17 hours moving on to the performance this is actually another reason why this laptop is so special so judging by how light it is you would expect it to come with some pretty poor performance a low ends until why series processor but that's actually not a case here I mean sure it doesn't come with Intel's highest and eighth series of processors but it does come with Intel's u series chip the Intel 1065 g7 which is by the way the exact same processor that we got in the Dell XPS 13 is 21 and the brand-new Dell XPS 13 in 2020 as well so it's a pretty capable chip for the average user it's based on Intel's brand new 10 I mean ER architecture it is a quad-core processor with a boost clock of up to 3.9 gigahertz on the GPU side we only have integrated graphics but since this is Intel San generation processor it also features Intel's gen 11 graphics which offer double the performance of Gen 9 which is what we've had for so many years now in terms of integrated graphics on top of that the i7 model of the 17-inch gram as well as the i5 model they both come with Intel's iris plus graphics which is really the best integrated graphics that Intel has to offer this means that you can actually play games like for tonight overwatch hearthstone and more lightweight games and low to medium settings and get a decent 30 to 60 frames per second experience definitely not a gaming laptop but if you're on the go and you just want to play some games at least this is doable with his laptop albeit on lower graphics which on the previous generation of integrated graphics the gen 9 specifically the UHD 630 graphics that we had last year GP performance was noticeably worse and if you ought to be some video editing or some photo work this processor is more than capable of handling that so you can even edit lightweight 4k videos on this if you choose to do so Ram wise you can get up to 24 gigabytes of ddr4 memory clocked at 3200 megahertz so yeah that's a lot of extremely fast memory for such a thin and light device i'm a bit surprised that LG did include lpddr4 memory which consumes even less far than the dr4 but it is a bit slower no we also get full nvme flash storage when actually two slots included in case you really want to expend a storage and you want to run it and write zero that's actually two of both so yeah that's a that's pretty nuts and then finally the last thing that makes this laptop so special are all the little things such as a great port selection so we get a charging port so we get a USB 3.1 gen2 an HDMI port a third of all three ports yes as well as a candidate lock on the other side two more USB to Ramon's and two ports a headphone jack and a micro SD card slot so yeah pretty impressive by far my favorite port of all is the Thunderbolt 3 port because with this you can connect it to a 5k monitor you can connect it to a thunderbolt 3 dock and get something like 15 to 18 or even more extra ports using just one thermal three cable and you can also connect it to an external GPU or a GPU and have some insane gaming performance and yeah you can also do some heavy duty video editing if you want to do that by connecting something like an arc TX 2080 so that's definitely doable thanks to that Thunderbolt 3 ports and the screen is pretty good as well so it's a 2560 by 1600 IPS display with 96% srgb coverage and around 300 nits of brightness and this is also by doing a 16 bytes an acid ratio display meaning that it's actually taller than the standard 60 by 9 displays you actually get more vertical space so yeah exactly larger than your usual 17 inch laptops that are made for gaming because those have a 16 by 9 that's been ratio display so yeah pretty awesome the keyboard feels great it's also backlit and we even have a frame pretty scanner on the power button nice we also get a latest Wi-Fi standard Wi-Fi 6 so overall what you get is essentially a 17 inch Ultrabook that's even lighter than some 13-inch ultrabooks out there you get great battery life a great performance for all of your needs and like I said there's nothing like this on the market at the moment so yeah in case you're interested in buying one yourself definitely check out the link in the description and once again huge thanks to you LG for sponsoring this video and sending us the 17 inch LG cram to check out so yeah thank you and as a thank you for you guys LG is actually running a promotion with a game called record breaker where if you actually score thirteen hundred and fifty grams you can
