WHY MY 240SX CAUGHT FIRE!

The Great Car Fix: A Tale of Leaks and Wiring Woes

As we sat amidst the wreckage of our trusty Mustang, we couldn't help but wonder what had gone wrong. The car's fuel system seemed to be leaking everywhere, and the vent was particularly sketchy. We decided to take a closer look and figure out where the leak was coming from. Our first step was to pull off the fitting and examine it closely. To our surprise, we found that one of the fittings looked loose, so we decided to pick it up and pretend like we were drifting to see what would happen.

As we shook the assembled parts around outside the car, we discovered that the seal needed to be replaced or was loose. We realized that this was likely the source of the leak, but we weren't quite sure how to fix it. Our next step was to try and replace the seal in the cap, but things didn't go as smoothly as we had hoped. We found that the seal was not designed to fit properly, and instead of a sock or gasket, there was just a line sitting in fuel. This wasn't exactly what we were expecting.

Despite the setbacks, we refused to give up. We decided to tighten the fittings and use a coupler to space out the o-ring. To our relief, this seemed to fix the problem, at least for now. As we continued to work on the car, we discovered that there was another issue with the fuel pump wiring. It had been damaged by the fire, but fortunately, it was an easy fix. We managed to repair the wiring and get the car's taillights working again.

One of the most surprising discoveries we made was a loose shock absorber. This was not exactly what we were expecting, but we were glad to have found something that could be easily fixed. Despite the challenges we faced, we were determined to get the car back on the road. We ordered a new seal for the fuel system and began to repair any damage caused by the fire.

As we worked on the car, we couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. We had no idea what our next project would be, but we knew that it would be just as challenging and rewarding as this one. And speaking of projects, we did receive some great tips from friends, including Nick, who generously donated an extended tip to help us in our time of need.

In the end, our car fix was a success, but not without its challenges. We learned a valuable lesson about the importance of regular maintenance and attention to detail when it comes to our trusty vehicle. Despite the setbacks, we were thrilled to have our car back on the road and ready for whatever adventures lay ahead. And speaking of adventures, we have some exciting news to share with you all. Our next project is going to be a real doozy, but we can't reveal too much just yet. Let's just say that it involves something special, and we'll be sharing more details about it in our next video, which will drop this Friday.

In addition to the upcoming video, we're also excited to announce that we'll be dropping some new merchandise soon. We've been teasing some of these items on Instagram, but we can't wait to share them with you all in person. One item that we unfortunately had to ruin when we were taking photos was a hat, which we affectionately refer to as "the love me" hat. Don't worry, it's not the end of the world, and we'll have plenty more merch coming your way soon.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys welcome to today's video I have good news and bad news the good news is these Tebow is headed to Florida so we can start building and the bad news is today is my last day in California with it so we're doing a quick little Starbucks run and then I'm gonna say bye bye after my last nightmare experience shipping a car through the West I decided I'm an actually shipping close it's a little bit more expensive I think it's worth it for how special the car is to me and it should be back in Florida and it's very exciting pickup for - thank you great service here in California look at how cool that is that's sick today's many filled with many adventures one of which the plan was I was bringing the 240 to my friend Nick shop just so that way today we could focus on Colette see we can get that thing dialed get it all sorted with the hydro and the diff swap which we'll explain later but um and then also picking up the car that's in the thumbnail but we've had a trailer flat that we had to go stop at Home Depot to fill it up with some air and then lost the alternator on her truck and I was hoping that the gauge was bad because the car's still running great and in my mind I'm like I don't know much about Diesel's but I know that they don't need like spark to run because it's just from the compression of the fuel that ignites well then I forgot about the fact that it needs voltage for fuel pressure so we started losing fuel pressure in the middle of some very busy highway in downtown LA I'm getting anxious shakes good about to be stuck in cause a traffic jam thankfully we're safe we got off to the side and front of some school that we'll probably get in trouble for being at but we're gonna do some car swaps here and then mix gonna come grab one car I'm gonna try to change the alternator and do they know the last time we drove this truck together the starter went out I think and we had to change the starter at the track I don't know I don't know common on radar zooms can we blame her this is actually Churchill Touareg but she's she's got some miles on her she's 200 26,000 miles I just feel bad because I feel like all the really bad stuff is happening when you're around and I feel awful okay it comes with a game you know with trucks and trailers you just if you don't have something new you just got to be prepared for the worst like I know lots of people the old trucks that keep spare starters and spare alternators and tons of spare just in the truck if you don't want to get stranded I mean think about how much of a pain and how expensive it is to tow something like this so is so is the situation we're in though we didn't notice it wasn't dramatic cuz it's a parcel so luckily and one is technically flat right now but trailer tires are expensive so we've just been arenít uh yeah it's uh it's an experience thankfully we where there's no like rush today today was a chill Bay so if it's that bad why don't you just bring your check out here there you go cuz my trucks busy carting around our other cars in Florida maybe you should send more cars here what would that solve if you send a nice car here then maybe I'll get a nice Church okay alright I'm a truck mechanic now successfully got my alternator off while Cummins yeah yep yeah Nick Nick came here to save the rescue Can I grab the 240 so we can get that thing now there's one I need your help nothing's that simple in life sir how dare you belittle my work how your good things hopefully this works on top of all the fury Colette's Z keys went missing I got the alternator fix I'm basically a diesel mechanic now so if you have any diesel needs call me up I'm sorry that you have the worst luck today that's okay I made a choice you're worth it uh-huh junk not junk yo let me get those blitz all right the hurt compression one j9 vvt-i will see rip see ribs those guys on the road right what is that he's cool there's a giant cloud of smoke got you now just fight yeah you can't do that here I wasn't expecting summer we can't go back and get it not like it's so fast my head actually flew out it seems so good pop the trunk no it's back here dude it is filthy now oh my god worth it though this poor hat bro look at it that's all that non vvt-i one day I'll do to you Nikki was showing me how we made the bracket so you don't have to do it on the passenger side but on the driver side there's a hump for the stock cat cuz you didn't cut out this side right the beauty of having a right hand drive cars you don't have to do that but anyway he has this seat mounted solo Tanika actually has head room where I'm like smashed mine on the cage all the time man I want an S 14 man I've just never been like a huge fan of them I don't know why I hurt my feelings I mean you're sick we met showman were you at stock yes no satisfying they ever this stuff washes up way nicer than whatever the fire truck used on the Mustang that stuff was terrible so the first thing we're gonna try to figure out is where this thing was leaking so what I thought would be a cool idea to do would be to pull off this fitting and that fitting leave all this kind of assembled and tack and then shake it around outside the car to see if it leaks from anywhere so this vent is also very sketchy so we're going to do that wow that's heavy I think we can do this but I might jump a little all right so my theory is that it's one of these fittings that already looks loose but we're gonna pick it up and were gonna pretend like we're drifting and see what happens I Grange it would be a left-hander so we go oh my god it's kind of the top seal - that's bad oh my god and the gas even that full holy Quan jay-z oh my god so this seal needs to be replaced or is loose and then this one and this one well maybe we could just put a stock tank back in it there's no way oh yeah bro we actually replaced the seal in the cap in Colorado wonder I don't plan on oh yeah I mean it feels kind of loose in there like this is not here wait a second this is the return right okay well I was gonna say cuz it's just an an fitting there that doesn't go down at all all right yeah yeah yeah this is the feed but still broke this is probably why the car is weird issues to the feed just sits in there no bro that's all that's the feed there's no sock or anything that is literally just a line sitting at the bike crimped onto that line giant facepalm oh my god and but this rubber line does not feel like it's meant to be sitting in fuel feel it it's like soft and like feels like a teddy bear flamers okay me maybe yes I mean it didn't burn geez alright well we found the problem that's bad the cars probably ever done any backis before so let's probably wash so I tighten the fittings and I actually stuffed you into that can't do with one hand yeah I got it pretty tight so I cut up a coupler and used it to space the o-ring out just as the o-ring wasn't really seeing that much and it kind of like space over hang out enough to where oh you see here it kind of like that might be where it's cuz it kind of push the o-ring out here see right there yeah it kind of torn it's not torn it's just like sitting all crooked yeah yeah oh look it's like sitting under the piece weird so it's like not really doing it there anymore at least we have like kind of a ghetto fix for now that I can order another one these top plates let's see if it passed the shake test I certify a find where that clunk was coming from all right hit it you see that dude haha looks like I got a loose shock I also got a new extended tip thanks to Nick Nick with the tip check this out oh brother it's not in focus tap it with your finger this one yeah just tap me yeah - look at that that is terrible there's like I think why rap in here dude on it that that's like a weed what the heck single lead what is this look at that brother that can't be helping things we got some problems geez I got lucky that most of the bern wiring back here was just the taillight wiring so that's pretty easy to replace some of the fuel pump stuff got burnt but it definitely could have been a lot worse so in terms of wiring stuff it's two wires just one for brake light one for the taillights and should just be easy enough to swap that out we tag-teamed some wiring stuff I get a wired up the tail light so those work again Nick rewire the fuel pumps and now we have an extra volt from before I don't know if that was a post fire thing or if the wiring just sucked on them got the new extendo Nick tip and a few other things coming so originally in the end of this video we were supposed to actually be picking up a very special car I got rid of the Evo from out here because I needed space to store the next project it's kind of a secret I kind of leaked a little bit on Instagram but it's something I think you guys will be really excited to see and it's going to be on the video that goes up this Friday also on Friday we're gonna be dropping some new merch I've been kind of dropping teasers of that as well on Instagram here and there on the LZ MFG page this hat that I unfortunately ruined when
