The Car: A Sleeper with a Punch Above its Weight

When we first laid eyes on this car, we weren't expecting much. The exterior design seemed conservative, and we wondered if it was more of a toy than a serious performance machine. But as soon as we got behind the wheel, we realized that this was one car that didn't follow the usual rules. It's a sleeper, but not in the classical sense. Instead of being a slowpoke or a poser, this car is a genuine performer that packs a punch above its weight.

The Power and Performance

One of the first things we noticed when we started driving the car was how strong it felt. The 400 horsepower engine, combined with the qu limit-ed slip differential at the rear, made for a very satisfying drive. We were able to feel the torque pulling from low speeds, but it was also surprisingly quiet and smooth. This is in stark contrast to some of our other experience with BMWs, where V8 engines can sometimes be a bit rough around the edges.

But what really surprised us was just how quick this car is. We were expecting a lot more time before reaching 300 km/h, but we passed that mark in no time at all. The speedo climbed past 300 km/h with ease, and it seemed to just keep going without any fuss. This is impressive, especially when you consider that the E90 M3's manual model couldn't even manage a sub-10 second lap time at the same track.

The Handling and Suspension

Another thing that really impressed us was how well this car handled. The steering was very nice and heavy, with just the right amount of feedback. And the suspension? Absolutely sublime. It was like driving on air, but still managing to handle corners and bumps with ease. We tested it on some B- roads and found it to be more than capable, even if we did have to make sure not to push it too hard.

What's really interesting is how all these different components work together to create a car that's both fun to drive and easy to live with. It's like the saying goes: "you can't judge a book by its cover." This car looks like just another BMW, but trust us, it's anything but. With its powerful engine, smooth transmission, and well-sorted chassis, this is one car that will leave you wanting more.

Inside the Car

One of our favorite things about this car is the way it makes you feel when you're driving it. It's like the whole car has been tuned to perfection, with every component working in harmony to create a driving experience that's both engaging and relaxing. The interior is also lovely, with all sorts of nice touches and details that make it feel like a bespoke machine.

But what really sets this car apart from its more common cousins is how accessible it feels. We were expecting some kind of special treatment when we took this car for a spin, but instead we found ourselves grinning from ear to ear as we pushed the limits of the car and saw just how capable it was. It's like this car has been waiting just for us, its unique combination of power and handling making it the perfect machine for anyone who wants to have fun on the road.

BMW 335i and it is really really awesome uh the spec is awesome and it has been modded quite a bit so today I'm going to show you around it we're going to take a look at that spec I'm going to show you a couple of cool things on it and then we'll take it for a drive towards the autan for man blast and if you have a cool car yourself you want us to feature on our channel uh send an email to this it's a bit of a grandpa spec and I really really love that this color let's start with that this is mon Stein a BMW individual color and it has this crazy like change in it from Blue to goldish um when the light the sunlight which is absent today uh but when the Sun hits it it is even stronger than this it's called moonstone in English and well it is a really special color you don't see it that often uh this car is a 2008 and it is a facelift you can see that because of the headlights and the rear lights it's also got wider kidneys for the facelift so yeah it is a good thing if you're looking for an E90 definitely go for at least uh the first facelift in 2008 it got another facelift in 2010 I believe uh but at least get the first one so we've got uh this is a it's not an M sport package or whatever so we've got some regular bumpers we do have fog lights there and a little trim but it is a very friendly car to look at you know an M sport thing with big wheels it can be a bit more aggressive and that's what most people like uh but this is a refreshingly friendly specked car so uh We've even got BMW individual Wheels we don't see that uh often you see it on seven series sometimes but not on a three series these are 18in wheels with 225 uh tires Mitchell and pilot super sport tires uh which are uh well a bit gone so uh it can definitely use some pilot Port 4 S Tires because with these like damp conditions uh the rear is just all over the place it is fun but uh there is not a lot of grip so the car also has the shadow line package so all black trim around the windows uh it's got electrically foldable mirrors which is apparently quite special for this generation and at the rear you can see the new rear light unit units as well this is a big difference the pre-facelift if you look at a pre-facelift versus this one it's a really big difference this looks much fresher and then of course we've got the dual exhaust setup for the 335i no badges on the rear which I really like oh let's talk about the mods a bit as well uh so we'll do another little lap so we've got upgraded brake discs and pads these are gyro disc two-piece full floating uh brake discs front and rear then we've got upgraded brake pads and brake lines as well we've got an as suspension basically all the rubbers have been replaced for for polyurethanes it's got unial uh in the rear and we've also got adjustable camber and strut bars at the front and at the rear so a lot of suspension um upgrades well suspension and subframe updates basically so very cool that is a lot of stuff uh to put on uh an old 3 Series but I really really like it and then we've got the engine right here so this is the n54 inline 6 Twin turbocharged engine uh the n54 b3a if I'm not mistaken did I remember that correct yeah yeah so this is the twin turbo version of the the straight six by BMW so in 2010 it got another facelift and they went to the n55 which is a straight six with a single Twin scroll turbo they deliver about the same power but the n54 is the twin turbo one and that is the most you know suitable for tuning at least if you look at you know upgrade for upgrade uh this delivers more power because you have two turbos so we've got a Wagner Evo 2 intercooler uh we've got catless down pipes uh uh in ECU remap we've got the mosan oil thermostat as you can see and an oil cooler and uh this all brings the total to 400 horsepower and 560 NM of torque which is really really nice stock it delivers 306 horsepower and around 400 newm of torque so a really nice upgrade uh We've also got a quave limited slip differential at the rear which is quite amazing uh Lucas actually uh told me that it had to be shipped to the UK and he didn't have a car for like 6 months so uh yeah man that's dedication and I'm sure I have forgotten uh some stuff as well because there is a lot on there but I think I covered the most important stuff okay so let's move on with the interior which is absolutely delicious I mean this is so freaking cool I love the person who specked this car with that Moonstone exterior and then this completely blue interior with those weird stitchings in the headrests even the back of the seats also in Leather so we've got a lot of leather and we've got the upper and lower part of the doors in leather that's really really nice then we've got this beautiful wood trim All Around the car on the center console as well on the dash on the steering wheel even we've got a BMW individual steering wheel with this little wooden Edge this wooden trim that is awesome I really love that it is a a super super nice spec I mean this is probably the best spec E90 I've ever seen okay so let's start it up open the door now I have to say it's got a stock exhaust um and it's got those catless down pipes but soundwise it's it's very nice it's very civilized beautiful straight six sound uh we've got BMW individual there as well oh and this is leather too that's gorgeous cup holder it's got the BMW individual sound system as well I mean this is insane but yeah it sounds really nice and we've got this six-speed manual transmission as well which is gorgeous and then turn off traction control for our Drive but yeah it is a very special car this I really like it okay so wow that's quite a strong feel yeah so the sound it's really it's not that loud it it's it's very civilized I really like that because it fits this car perfectly um it it's not you know crazy screaming exhaust 335i it's a very good sound okay we'll turn around here we do have some squeaky brakes but performance is really good so yeah that's that's not the tires or the power that's just all the mud that's there on the road but it does feel really really nice it it feels very strong very meaty and beefy and that goes for a lot of stuff so the power the engine feels very strong but also the steering and the suspension feel very good it's it's a very very good setup I wasn't really expecting that when I saw this car when it arrived and I mean that's the definition of a sleeper but it's a sleeper in a different way it's not mind-bendingly fast but there is so much stuff that has been done to this car that you don't see on the outside I mean it's completely stuck the exterior you even even those Grandpa BMW individual Wheels I mean Lucas told me that he was thinking about you know going maybe a size bigger and an M wheel or something like that but I would I would recommend keeping it like this because I really love this I love the fact that you don't see anything on the outside so the tires are you know we know this from uh Super Sports when it's cold or wet or cold and wet uh They Don't Really Work oh that is nice so 400 horsepower you might know that that is the same figure as a BMW M3 E90 uh would have had so with some very easy molds I mean it's uh down pipes it's a cooler remap you've got the same power as an M3 but with the straight 6 twin turbo engine which is really really nice I mean and we know that the M3 e90s uh those V8s they really didn't deliver their power and this really does and we've got that qu limited slip diff at the rear which does work as well I mean this is a really really cool car Lucas man you've got a really cool car it I really really like it it's a lot of fun to drive and it's also very um approachable you know it it's it's not that heavy it's not too powerful okay here we go full throttle man it's strong you can really feel that torque but it's so quiet okay I I really wasn't expecting it to be this quick this far along still so as you can see that's the end of the speedo we've passed that quite quickly um but this car will will do 300 km an hour GPS and that is freaking impressive uh we also measured the 100 to 200 of course uh which was a 10.6 run which is also super quick and way quicker than the E90 manual M3 uh we tested now I don't know if there was something wrong with that car because that car was really slow um but this is hella impressive man it just keeps going and you don't hear anything this is this is a car for like a a retired 60 plus year old BMW racing driver D or something like that you know some someone who really knows how to drive but is a bit older and doesn't really want to have an M3 and be like that guy but man it's impressive the steering is super nice and heavy loads of feel suspension is really good I mean I don't know what the intention was uh in the setup you know if this was was for B- roads or track driving or daily driving but I have to say that it basically did everything from the B- road until here really really good um it's not too hard it's not too floaty so yeah I really like the setup I mean there's a lot of stuff that has been changed on this car and you can really feel that you can feel that the the the the feel you have with with the suspension with the chassis is much better than in a stock E90 much better oh man it I I don't know what what's the last time we drove an n54 I think it was that BMW 1M but this feels much more linear it it it just pulls and then just keeps going that I think the 1 M felt a bit more turoy and a bit more sketchy to drive as well this was this feels more Supple more smooth oh that's quick oh that's amazing this was a a really nice surprise I mean that's that's what I love about this type of car look arrives and you look at the car and you think wow that's a cool spec but you have no idea of the well the sheer amount of work and thought that has gone into this suspension and this
