The Luxury of Kia: A Review of the X-Line and Palisade
As I sat behind the wheel of the Kia X-Line, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and luxury. The interior was adorned with sleek lines and premium materials, evoking a sense of sophistication and refinement. The seats, in particular, were a highlight - soft and comfortable, with advanced features like Ergo Motion that cradled my body for optimal support.
But what truly set the X-Line apart was its impressive list of standard features. From the heated steering wheel to ventilated seats with hard buttons, every detail seemed designed to provide maximum comfort and convenience. And while some features, like the manual adjustment tilt and telescopic steering wheel, may be a bit of a letdown, others - like the presets for one and two up at the front - were a welcome touch.
One feature that did surprise me was the absence of daytime running lights on the X-Line. While I understand the need to update and refresh designs, I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. And then there's the issue of tow capacity - while both the X-Line and Palisade can handle heavy loads, the former's mechanical upgrade allows for towing up to 5,500 pounds, compared to the latter's 5,000-pound limit.
But as I delved deeper into the X-Line's features, I began to appreciate its many strengths. The Harman Kardon sound system was a highlight - clear and crisp, with deep bass that added depth to the driving experience. And while two sunroofs might not seem like a lot, they provided ample natural light and made the cabin feel even more spacious.
Of course, no review of the X-Line would be complete without mentioning its safety features. The Highway Driver Assist system was a standout - one of the best Lane keep assists I've ever had the pleasure of driving. And with advanced features like camera rearview mirrors and Wi-Fi hotspots (available on certain trims), this SUV truly feels like a luxury vehicle.
As I took the X-Line out for a spin, I was struck by its impressive handling and responsiveness. The acceleration was smooth and seamless, and the ride was comfortable and composed. And while it may not have been as flashy as some of its competitors, there's something to be said for a car that gets the job done with quiet confidence.
But how does it compare to the Palisade? While both SUVs share many similarities, I couldn't help but feel that the X-Line had a few key advantages. The seat comfort, in particular, was a major draw - and while the Palisade's infotainment system may be slightly more advanced, I found myself preferring the simplicity and ease of use of the X-Line.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to personal preference. If you're looking for a luxury SUV with all the bells and whistles, the Palisade may be the better choice. But if you prioritize comfort, convenience, and a strong focus on safety features, then the X-Line is definitely worth considering.
And what about those who prefer the Telluride? Well, I'd say that's definitely a valid option as well. The Telluride's updated design and luxurious interior are hard to beat - but for me, it's all about the Ergo Motion seats and the sheer sense of refinement that comes with driving this car.
Whether you choose the X-Line, Palisade, or Telluride, one thing is certain: Kia has outdone itself with these luxury SUVs. And if you're in the market for a new vehicle, I'd highly recommend taking one for a spin to see which one best suits your needs and preferences.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enand I'm going for a drive 2023 Kia Telluride x-line with no launch control it's pretty good this one has 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque from a 3.8 liter V6 just like the Palisade this is also recently updated so I am going to put it into eco mode and find out the differences between this the new Palisade which one I would take and why Jacob is at home with his kid who's sick today so it's just going to be a solo ear review and big shout out to Lockwood Kia in Oakville for hooking us up with this Telluride if you're looking for a Telluride and you live in Canada anywhere hit up Lockwood Kia and if you don't live in Canada you live in the United States hit up tsb.truecar.com to find a Telluride these things are hot everybody loves them let's find out why so with the refresh they got rid of those cool Amber headlights that went around this has two lines instead that are not even Amber they're clear they're only Amber when you turn on the turn signal and they've also refreshed the interior so we do have a new style infotainment which we'll talk about later but I just really wanted to show you first then the rest of the front end has been reworked as well it's I guess like we got different grilles for different versions it does look really nice it's still the nice tiger nose or tiger shark or whatever it is Grill and then below we've got like a much more wide open area which kind of reminds me of the BMW X2 just like blockier I think overall the front looks really cool besides the headlights and I'm I'm just waiting for some headlight company to make a modification that plugs in and gives you the old style Kia Telluride headlights then it'll be perfect but before I keep going with the looks this is an X line there's an X pro above it and below that are the versions that are not lifted so the X line X pro get a 10 millimeter lift the X line and X pro also get tow mode and then the X line gets 20 inch wheels where the x-pro gets 18 inch wheels with Continental terrain contacts that would be the Continental recommended tire and the Continental recommended tire for winter since winter is coming up is the Viking contact 7 make sure you get some winter tires on so you're safe this year on the road in the snow unless you live in Florida then just don't get winter tires and all the wheel designs I think look super awesome especially the 18 inch ones on the Telluride I think cooler maybe less classy more off-roady than everything that's coming from Palisades so good job on that Kia and then from the back the taillights look pretty much exactly the same but if you look closely they're just slightly different like more led-ish and they got like a little Checker pattern if you get like really up close oh another thing at the back it says Telluride at the front last time it's a Telluride on the hood which I don't think it needed so I think this does look better then this gets an X line or an x-pro little badge in the corner which is cool it doesn't go like above and beyond like this is the X pro like the uh well I guess the trail sports not really doing that yet either from Honda so this is probably like in line with that and then we also have the same style exhaust tips that we had on the Palisade and the old Telluride so I guess let's listen to it from the outside so then looks wise when I take this over a palisade and I'm on the edge I think there are a bunch more cooler colors for the Telluride but the moment the moment they have a modification to have the old style headlights on this then yeah 100 I think this looks better and then driving wise you know we're driving around we're gonna give some gas feels the exact same as the Palisade just a good solid amount of power same engine same power same 8-speed automatic transmission but there's changes on the inside we got to talk about so on the Kia Telluride compared to the Hyundai Palisade starting off we have a normal shifter in the Telluride but the Palisade one wasn't that hard with the buttons but it's nice if you like that then if we go to our climate we have all hard buttons for everything where the palace they did have some touch buttons for things like the fan and I much prefer the hard buttons in the Telluride and very similarly to the Palisade we do have hard buttons for our map nav star button so we can go to our Apple carplay Android auto projection right away we got a volume knob tuning knob that's nice but then we've got a different style of infotainment so the last Telluride had like your analog gauge cluster with digital in the middle and then kind of like the tablet Style on the right this is like one solid looking screen even though it's two separate screens so starting with the gauge cluster all your transitions from each of your driving modes so we have eight again because we do have the tow mode on the left because we are X line the transitions are smooth which Jacob found them not to be in the Palisade and uh I think that's a point for the Telly ride there too the infotainment Apple carplay Android auto SiriusXM is laid out differently we don't have those dumb Hyundai bulbs anymore we have normal old style Kia Hyundai infotainment for the Cirrus XM so we've got our stations on the left we can rewind easily it shows the radio station nice and big so we don't have to read those stupid bulbs so we get another point for the Telluride as far as I'm concerned and if you do manage to find yourself in a brand new Telluride with this awesome infotainment for SiriusXM you can get your own free three months at searsexm.sear.com the straight pipes and then this one also does have the head up display it is very high quality very nice nice and low and not in the way so that's a tie with the Palisade then on to the steering wheel this one's different doesn't maybe look as cool but I think it functions exactly the same and then as for Comfort I don't notice this being more comfortable than the Palisade it's probably similarly comfortable it does have the rear leveling but this one is the 10 millimeter one centimeter height increase so maybe that changes it a bit we will check the handling through cliche Corner in a second but before that let's do a visor test three two one passes and it will fit a small cup just fine we don't have gimmicky couples we just have normal good cup holders and a whole bunch of area to store your phone USB USBC and a wireless charger as I do this three-point turn we have amazing 360 cameras just like every Hyundai Kia Genesis where you can click on everything spin around and then we got the 360 camera as well hard button to get to that and with that 360 camera the car is actually white in the infotainment and I don't have any issues with that because this one is actually white even though this one doesn't have Chrome in it in real life but it does on the screen I'm okay with that and then some other nice things we do have USBC and all of the rows even at the very back we do have normal household power back here so you can power stuff in the back in the trunk we have the exact same amount of room as the Palisade at least it looks like to me but there's no buttons to drop your seats you got do it manually and raise them manually which isn't that big of a deal to me and then the seating space in the very back row is the same as the Palisade middle row seems just as comfortable but the front feels more comfortable to me because the Kia Telluride does not have Ergo motion which is the fake Hyundai massage which makes it feel like there's a tennis ball pressing my back this is just normal good lumbar support up down forward back so I just like it a lot more without the Ergo motion seats and then since this is X line we got X line stitched or embossed or whatever into the seats so that looks pretty nice and this is a black interior you can get a couple different Interiors depending on which color exterior you get white exterior black interior isn't my choice but you know whatever and then other interior things we do have some nice wood right on the dashboard I don't think it's as luxurious as the my box style interior on the Palisade but this is less of a luxurious looking car I think and more of a rugged looking car and it kind of Suits it like it would be cool if they had like more rugged material for the dashboard like if they took a bunch of Twigs that were run over by a Telluride and then epoxied them like they do those cool dining room and coffee tables like that would be a sweet one for like X line x-pro then a couple more things heated steering wheel heated and ventilated seats with hard buttons so that's really great too we got a decent Harman Kardon sound system nothing wrong with it at all we got two sunroofs not a big moon roof but like I feel like you don't need need that and then we have peasant blockers in the back and here's a clip again of my baby saying peasant blockers wow great job Yuri's baby subscribe for Yuri's baby saying peasant blockers and something that you might not like in a car at this price which will get to momentarily after I go through cliche Corner we have a manual adjustment tilt and telescopic steering wheel it is not power that kind of sucks but we do have presets for one and two up at the front because you know you gotta at least have that and this is like pretty much at the top like we could get the X pro but it's it's really just the wheels actually I think the x-pro also gets mechanical upgrade so that it can tow 5 500 pounds and I'm pretty sure that the X line will tow 5000 pounds even though it has the tow mode as well and then below that will still tow 5000 pounds but with no tow drive mode then this also does have a rear view mirror that is a camera so that's nice too in case you have a whole bunch of stuff or kids or mirrors blocking the view back there then these models I don't think in Canada because the palace they didn't in the states they'll have Wi-Fi hotspot which is cool I don't know if they've had that before and then in the states I don't know about Canada and they'll also have a digital key that you can send to phones to unlock and drive the car with which I don't think is a cool feature to me but it must be for somebody maybe for Airbnb not Airbnb turo probably for turo that's pretty sweet and this also has Highway drivers too which is an amazing probably one of the best Lane keep assists for cars today so having that would be great for like every single commute uh not for cliche corner so I'm going to turn everything off go to sport mode and give it a little Boot and see if it handles as amazingly as that Palace they did which completely shocked both Jacob and I no paddles but I can shift through gears on the shifter but I'm just going to keep it in auto and yeah just like the Palisade this handles much better than it should for a three-row SUV jeez Louise all right with that out of the way it's time we get to the price this one starts at 49.995 Canadian and this one is specced out to 60 995 Canadian which I guess is just around the similar price to the Palisade so now comes the question would you get this or would you get the Palisade would I get this or the Palisade I think I want to get the Telluride but the Palisade just did such a good job with the refresh if Kia kept the daytime running lights the same I would have 100 picked this without hesitation but I feel like they had to change it because it was a refresh or else people would be confused to be like is that the old one or the new one they needed to make a bigger change like that but I think after spending some time with it the biggest deciding factor for me is the seat Comfort no Ergo motion so it feels better in this the infotainment we've got the better one that's not the bulbs and we have hard buttons for our fan control for our climate that combined with I'm pretty sure there's someone's going to make an aftermarket daytime running light to look like the old Telluride my choice personally would be to Telluride over the new Palisade and if the Telluride is your choice as well make sure you hit up tsb.truecar.com discounted price offers on new models or if you want to Palisade too I mean you can get those there too but if you're looking for a Kia in Canada make sure you hit up Lockwood Kia get your car from there and they also have a cool classic car area too with some Exotics so maybe maybe pick up a red Z06 or whatever oh yeah that's pretty sweet so let me know different doesn't maybe look as cool but I think it functions exactly the same and then as for Comfort I don't notice this being more comfortable than the Palisade it's probably similarly comfortable it does have the rear leveling but this one is the 10 millimeter one centimeter height increase so maybe that changes it a bit we will check the handling through cliche Corner in a second but before that let's do a visor test three two one passes and it will fit a small cup just fine we don't have gimmicky couples we just have normal good cup holders and a whole bunch of area to store your phone USB USBC and a wireless charger as I do this three-point turn we have amazing 360 cameras just like every Hyundai Kia Genesis where you can click on everything spin around and then we got the 360 camera as well hard button to get to that and with that 360 camera the car is actually white in the infotainment and I don't have any issues with that because this one is actually white even though this one doesn't have Chrome in it in real life but it does on the screen I'm okay with that and then some other nice things we do have USBC and all of the rows even at the very back we do have normal household power back here so you can power stuff in the back in the trunk we have the exact same amount of room as the Palisade at least it looks like to me but there's no buttons to drop your seats you got do it manually and raise them manually which isn't that big of a deal to me and then the seating space in the very back row is the same as the Palisade middle row seems just as comfortable but the front feels more comfortable to me because the Kia Telluride does not have Ergo motion which is the fake Hyundai massage which makes it feel like there's a tennis ball pressing my back this is just normal good lumbar support up down forward back so I just like it a lot more without the Ergo motion seats and then since this is X line we got X line stitched or embossed or whatever into the seats so that looks pretty nice and this is a black interior you can get a couple different Interiors depending on which color exterior you get white exterior black interior isn't my choice but you know whatever and then other interior things we do have some nice wood right on the dashboard I don't think it's as luxurious as the my box style interior on the Palisade but this is less of a luxurious looking car I think and more of a rugged looking car and it kind of Suits it like it would be cool if they had like more rugged material for the dashboard like if they took a bunch of Twigs that were run over by a Telluride and then epoxied them like they do those cool dining room and coffee tables like that would be a sweet one for like X line x-pro then a couple more things heated steering wheel heated and ventilated seats with hard buttons so that's really great too we got a decent Harman Kardon sound system nothing wrong with it at all we got two sunroofs not a big moon roof but like I feel like you don't need need that and then we have peasant blockers in the back and here's a clip again of my baby saying peasant blockers wow great job Yuri's baby subscribe for Yuri's baby saying peasant blockers and something that you might not like in a car at this price which will get to momentarily after I go through cliche Corner we have a manual adjustment tilt and telescopic steering wheel it is not power that kind of sucks but we do have presets for one and two up at the front because you know you gotta at least have that and this is like pretty much at the top like we could get the X pro but it's it's really just the wheels actually I think the x-pro also gets mechanical upgrade so that it can tow 5 500 pounds and I'm pretty sure that the X line will tow 5000 pounds even though it has the tow mode as well and then below that will still tow 5000 pounds but with no tow drive mode then this also does have a rear view mirror that is a camera so that's nice too in case you have a whole bunch of stuff or kids or mirrors blocking the view back there then these models I don't think in Canada because the palace they didn't in the states they'll have Wi-Fi hotspot which is cool I don't know if they've had that before and then in the states I don't know about Canada and they'll also have a digital key that you can send to phones to unlock and drive the car with which I don't think is a cool feature to me but it must be for somebody maybe for Airbnb not Airbnb turo probably for turo that's pretty sweet and this also has Highway drivers too which is an amazing probably one of the best Lane keep assists for cars today so having that would be great for like every single commute uh not for cliche corner so I'm going to turn everything off go to sport mode and give it a little Boot and see if it handles as amazingly as that Palace they did which completely shocked both Jacob and I no paddles but I can shift through gears on the shifter but I'm just going to keep it in auto and yeah just like the Palisade this handles much better than it should for a three-row SUV jeez Louise all right with that out of the way it's time we get to the price this one starts at 49.995 Canadian and this one is specced out to 60 995 Canadian which I guess is just around the similar price to the Palisade so now comes the question would you get this or would you get the Palisade would I get this or the Palisade I think I want to get the Telluride but the Palisade just did such a good job with the refresh if Kia kept the daytime running lights the same I would have 100 picked this without hesitation but I feel like they had to change it because it was a refresh or else people would be confused to be like is that the old one or the new one they needed to make a bigger change like that but I think after spending some time with it the biggest deciding factor for me is the seat Comfort no Ergo motion so it feels better in this the infotainment we've got the better one that's not the bulbs and we have hard buttons for our fan control for our climate that combined with I'm pretty sure there's someone's going to make an aftermarket daytime running light to look like the old Telluride my choice personally would be to Telluride over the new Palisade and if the Telluride is your choice as well make sure you hit up tsb.truecar.com discounted price offers on new models or if you want to Palisade too I mean you can get those there too but if you're looking for a Kia in Canada make sure you hit up Lockwood Kia get your car from there and they also have a cool classic car area too with some Exotics so maybe maybe pick up a red Z06 or whatever oh yeah that's pretty sweet so let me know what you think in the comments below Telluride or Palisade don't worry Jacob's gonna be back soon we're not going to be doing solo reviews for the rest of this channel make sure you subscribe like hit the notification Bell follow us both on Instagram and the straight pipes accounts and that's it great job Kia just so happy there's no bulbs anymore I'm just so happy\n"
