The Silver Lining

Creating an Edgy Look: A Step-by-Step Guide

First things first, have your face foundation ready and let's get started on this edgy look. This look is all about heavy fill-in and shaping of the brows. Your brows are the frames to your eyes, so it's essential to keep them skinnier with a higher arch. When filling in your brows, use a brow pencil that has a wax base. The wax will lay down the hairs, making them less prone to sticking up. Create little strokes and watch your brows magically come to life. To soften the look, use a spoolie to blend out the marks.

For those who don't need to fill in their brows, well, aren't you lucky? Using the New York City Smokies palette or any silver smokey eyeshadow palette is a great alternative. Apply a shimmering pale peach color on your lids, as this will help warm up the silver eyeshadow and prevent it from looking too cold like steel. Next, select the metallic medium gray color and create an edge by following the natural line of your eye. Dab the brush along the way to achieve a cat-eye shape, filling in only the outer corner of your eyes while leaving the rest clean.

Now that you have your Vixen cat eyes in place, it's time to break out your liquid liner. I'm using my new scribble liquid liner, which has launched just for this video. The name "scribble" comes from the fact that you can create thin and thick lines with a flick of the brush. When searching for a liquid liner, look for a brush that's flexible and can give you great control. The formula should be smooth, allowing you to create perfect lines without skipping or dragging.

To draw your line, start by contouring it so that it fits with the cat eye shape. If you want to go a little more dramatic, draw another thin line under the first one for an exotic look. Take your time when creating your dual lines, as liquid liner can be unforgiving but once mastered, endless looks can be created. Curl your lashes and give them a few good squeezes; they should look curled, not crimped.

Next, apply a clean lash lengthening mascara to enhance your eyes without overpowering the eyeliner. I'm using my favorite water liner in rose gold on my lower lashes to help brighten them up. Feel free to add silver lining inside the empty eyeliner space for an extra touch of elegance or create a very thin outline along the cat eye shape for a fun graphic look.

Now, it's time to sculpt your cheeks with bronzer. Load up your brush and locate the natural shadows where your cheekbones are. Accentuate the shadow by shading the bronzer around this area to help bring back that romantic finish. Add a touch of pink blush on your cheeks to complete the look. Finally, finish off your look with a berry matte lip color – this gorgeous shade is perfect for spring.

As we're almost done, let's contour into our nose to give it a more defined look for an outer worldly feel. Create a little line along the inner corner of your eyes and blend that bottom lashline out for a smokier look. This edgy look is all about sharpness, so don't be afraid to get creative with your makeup.
