like I said earlier is a mediatech 6589 chipset which is clocked at 1.2 GHz on quad course and it has the powervr sdx 544 GPU you also get 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage and micro SD card expandability up to 32 GB the the battery is a 2390 mAh battery which is fairly good and we'll talk about that in just a minute on the back you have an 8 megapixel camera which does have autofocus HDR and Full HD video recording along with video stabilization and the front facing camera is just a VGA camera with really really poor video quality so that's it for Hardware let's talk about the build quality of the device the device is mostly made out of plastic in fact it's completely plastic and you can feel that the minute you handle the device but being plastic it is not made poorly and in fact the build quality is really really superb it's a solid build phone and it's one of the best in terms of build quality in this price bracket the back panel is removable and you can access your dual SIM card slots along with the micro SD card slot once you remove the back panel if we talk about OS uh the device is running Android 4.2.2 and it runs on the Timescape sort of UI that Sony has been using they don't call it Timescape anymore but it's Sony's user interface uh that they've been using on devices it's one of the snappiest uh user interfaces out there it's uh really fast and intuitive but it's sort of updated and needs to be changed now we believe it needs to be upgraded it needs to be cleaner um Sony hasn't done that in a long time you do get your standard set of applications from Sony and you can download a lot of applications for Sony devices from the Play Store as well you also get Sony specific widgets uh that are pre-loaded onto the device as far as usability is concerned the device is fairly responsive uh internet browsing is good video playback is impressive and you'll enjoy gaming on this device as well we checked out the benchmarks in the device uh the benchmark scores were average for this chipset and can be compared to any other device running the mediatech 6589 funnily enough no information is available on the camera module and it does not seem to be the Sony uh sensor that we are used to so it would be really ironic if Sony didn't use one of their own sensors on the handset camera quality seems slightly lower than usual and images are slightly less sharp when compared to 8 megap cameras from other Sony smartphones video quality is decent and video stabilization is also decent you'll get a standard quality video in terms of the color reproduction is not that great from the camera sensor and that in itself proves that the sensor is not as good as comparative sensors from Sony overall the device offered great feedback in terms of usability in terms of build quality and in terms of performance it is running Android 4.2.2 and an Android 4.3 upgrade is far away as far as Sony is concerned they don't have any dedicated update timeline so you can expect it not by the end of this year and hopefully before the end of the second years half now the 2390 Mah hour battery is good enough for the device and it'll last you a good day uh you'll get about 5 to 6 hours of talk time on 3G you can also switch between SIM cards and uh use the internet and play games so you can last a full day with this battery and it's fairly good you'll be pretty happy with the battery life call Quality and networks are solid and uh the overall device fed fairly well in our Network test we had zero to little drop calls almost negligible and uh switching between SIM cards is easy you can choose which SIM card you want to make a call from and calls incoming come on both SIM cards in conclusion the Sony xeria C is yet another device in the mediatech 6589 chipset list the only Advantage is that this device comes from a renowned manufacturer with good service and support and pretty impressive build quality you also have custom UI on board and hopefully a software update in the near future well in any case the probability of a software update from Sony is slightly better than probability of a software update from any of the other manufacturers using the mediat tech 6589 for a price of R 18,000 if you're looking for a device with a 5in screen you get a lot of options for devices running a 720p display and even a full HD display so you may want to pick and choose carefully what your Hardware is and as far as the Sony Xperia C is concerned it's one of the better devices but it's definitely not the best considering the hardware
