**Flat Foot Shifting: A Game-Changer for Car Enthusiasts**

When it comes to driving, most car enthusiasts are familiar with the concept of shifting gears. However, there's a technique that's often overlooked but can greatly enhance your driving experience - flat foot shifting. This method involves accelerating and changing gear without taking your foot off the accelerator pedal or using the clutch. It's a game-changer for those who want to push their car to the limit on the track or simply enjoy a more thrilling drive.

**The Technique**

So, how does it work? To execute a flat foot shift, you need to put the clutch in with your foot still flat down on the accelerator. This may sound counterintuitive, but trust us, it's worth trying. As you shift gears, the car will hesitate for a split second before resuming its acceleration. The key is to keep the gas pedal all the way down while shifting, allowing the car to catch up quickly. It's like a temporary pause in the middle of accelerating.

**The No Lift System**

One of the most impressive aspects of flat foot shifting is the no lift system. This feature allows the car to automatically adjust its gear ratio and engine speed to maintain optimal acceleration. When you slam on the brakes, the car will slow down, but if you then accelerate again, it will immediately shift into a higher gear, giving you an instant boost of power. This effect is often compared to the feel of PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe) transmission.

**Rev-Matching and Braking**

Another clever aspect of flat foot shifting is rev-matching and braking. When you downshift before entering a corner or slowing down, the car will automatically adjust its engine speed to match the gear ratio. This creates an instant torque boost, making it easier to control the car. Additionally, when you brake hard, the car will slow down more smoothly, giving you better control over your speed.

**Track Times and Track Performance**

For those who prioritize track times, flat foot shifting can be a game-changer. With its rev-matching and no lift system, this technique allows drivers to extract maximum performance from their cars. However, it's essential to note that these benefits are relatively small - most enthusiasts won't notice the difference in track times. Nevertheless, for those who demand the best possible performance, flat foot shifting can be a valuable addition to their driving repertoire.

**PDK and Rev-Matching**

When comparing PDK transmissions to manual transmissions with no lift system, it's clear that PDK has some distinct advantages. The way PDK adjusts gear ratios in real-time, ensuring perfect engine speed, is unmatched by any other transmission system. In particular, the rev-matching feature of PDK allows drivers to feel like they're 'locking up' gears before downshifting, creating an unforgettable driving experience.

Visitors can spot the likes of Porsche 911 GT2 RS, McLaren 570S, and Land Rover Defender, all lined up in perfect formation. The area is especially popular among car enthusiasts who want to showcase their prized possessions or simply appreciate the beauty of these exceptional vehicles.

**A Coffee Break at Malibu Kitchen**

As we stroll through the car park, it's essential to take a break and enjoy the surroundings. We're stopping by the famous Malibu Kitchen, a spot that attracts petrol-heads from all over the world. With its unique blend of classic Porsches and modern American muscle cars, this area is truly one-of-a-kind.

**The Car Park: A Treasure Trove**

From the sleek lines of a Porsche 911 Speedster to the rugged off-road capabilities of an old Land Rover Defender, every car on display is a testament to human ingenuity and automotive passion.

**Conclusion**

Flat foot shifting is a technique that's both thrilling and rewarding for car enthusiasts. By understanding how it works and practicing with caution, drivers can unlock new levels of performance and excitement from their vehicles. Whether you're looking to push your car to the limit on the track or simply enjoy a more immersive driving experience, flat foot shifting is an excellent addition to any driving repertoire.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enshe was my janitor good morning everyone and welcome to another video in Malibu today I am in what is an incredible location never been here before this is the Malibu canyons really enjoying my first experience of canyon roads comparing them to the Swiss Alps they are just brilliant they're so much fun as you might all be surprised wherever I seem to go I end up in a Porsche somehow and today I've ended up in this what is just a crazy beautiful Porsche gt3 touring owned by a friend of mine standing behind me in a moment gonna introduce you guys in a minute it's still on the German import plates it's in an extremely unique color Club blue and it is beautiful super unique it's God's exhort there full exhaust headers sounds incredible it's a manual of course being the touring and I cannot wait to drive so today's video it's very spontaneous I put a message out on my Instagram offering to make ya a video with some anyone local with a interesting car and I've ended up with this so I'm going to give you guys a quick walk around of the car now just to appreciate the car for a second and then right now we're at the bottom of the canyon road and we're gonna go for a drive I've already seen so many crazy cars on the way here as well for me yeah it's just a lot to take in here especially coming from Switzerland so I'm gonna flip you guys around quickly here we have a guys yes I've ended up in a gt3 what a surprise check out this club blue so this is the only gt3 touring in this color club blue or club blue as you would say in German and it's super unique it's extremely strong blue I've never really seen anything quite like it before and as I said modifications wise it's got a full exhaust headers everything to the back it's got a big throttle body the air intakes so sound wise I think it's going to sound pretty cool and of course in the States you don't have number plates on the front of the car so this is a big win for me I love that you don't have to put the number plate on the front you can really just appreciate how good the car looks from the front and with no number plate there was quite a few nice details inside he's also painted the back of the seats in matching color a few small details on the steering wheel which I'm gonna show you now so he's also painted the blue parts here on the steering wheel looks super cool key as well and the air vents and as you can see still on the German import plates so quite kind of funny to be over here in California with the German import plates we should jump in go for first drive and enjoy some epic Malibu Canyon roads yeah welcome inside this beautiful gt3 toy Tom welcome to the channel thank you very much so Tom got in touch me via Instagram and they offered that we go for a blast in is very any perfect looking gt3 Touring so thanks for the Olfa top of course I'm the big fan of your channel and I'm glad you here with us tech so it's cool thanks man thanks I love sharing subscribers cars on the on the channel and especially when they're like this but of course is funny that yeah I come to the States and of course I end up somehow like always entities for me so I had a little bit of time put aside for filming one or two private videos while I'm here with our d filming the new rs6 a first gt3 touring on the channel and I'm so happy to be driving a manual for sure again because the last ones I drove PDK I'm obviously gonna in sport mode for the exhaust open and the sport mode you get the auto blip which I'm a huge fan of to use the auto blip or 50% of the time so what you can't you do here than tow do it yourself yeah I like to rap match sometimes but sometimes I'm not in the mood yeah and I think it's great for I also think it's great for yeah day to day driving because you're not really gonna want to Rev match driving through a city but you can if you're really into it yeah so it's got a full exhaust system which as you can hear it sounds incredible time I love the sound so first with the story about this so Tom bought this from Germany while you ordered it oh by the way you're gonna get a great tunnel up here oh okay we'll get back to that in a second it's gonna help the window now that's the sound it is but I my face off a sound the story about the car said Tom actually food to Germany to buy your dream car absolutely and did your delivery arranged it for quite a while landed down actually delayed it because I wanted to go to a spa track day in Belgium yeah so got everything sorted out when over there did about 6,000 miles Senna in three weeks cooled Austria Italy Germany Belgium is full European Tour a full experience spa and of course I think it's safe to say you're a real passionate Porsche driver I love it yeah I love all cars and I've driven all cars attracts a lot but this is my favorite drivers more than I've ever owned or driven obviously yeah it's a real driver's car I feel extremely fortunate to have it and Porsches just been making even as drivers cars in the last few years they up to me this kind of just the epitome of all of them it is and he went through the touring because you want to live with it on a day-to-day basis right exactly I had a PDK gt3 previously and had a couple others GT for with the manual and an RS as well and this is kind of like the best of all 9000 rpm yeah manual yeah 4.0 liter what what more do you want that will more g1 you went for the comfy seats I went for the comfort seats because the buckets don't bend and we can't get the Eurosport buckets that you guys get the ones that it's not available okay so had that they've been available that would have been my choice so the car has substantially more torque than it did with the it but really opens it up and and I think straights we're insane the throttle response is way more sensitive definitely after I'm done the guys that are based in Washington did the big throttle body upgrade along with the plenum and you know headers in 40 hours it's extremely responsive it's just we we looked at it on the dyno and there's kind of a flat spot on the stock gt3 from three to five thousand and five thousand yeah and now the mid-range it just rips I don't even need for a downshift I think ribs is a good brother just plated and then also 79,000 has gone from you know vicious to next listen to it a little bit yeah such a good car such a good car I mean apart from the sound and everything the way it feels I mean you you've obviously been driving it like crazy in the last three months could you float it in any way is there anything you question I really can't even think of anything I don't like about I mean I don't like an only traffic with a manual answer but the manual gearbox is best I've ever experienced in the Porsche GT car it's just so perfectly perfect there's a car does the throw feel warmer than a GT for the same okay I think it's about the same yeah I think so but this road is if you want to wire your brain and do something weird you can flat foot shift in this car something the 911 REM that's true that let's do overhead right we're gonna do a flat foot shift so what that means is basically you can change gear without no CID in my head it's a total like it stops your brain for a second so you can keep on the power you put the clutch in with your foot still flat down on the accelerator and then change gear yeah because I said let's try it does it work going any speed any speed on your side I need to think about this so you had to be flat on the accelerator though no you can even be partial and if you're a partial it results in my eyes are shift effect Oh so I'm gonna try it now a lot of people don't know this that you can do that I think it's good the no lift system I'm gonna try it see there's a find a straight big winches it doesn't cover up often I'm third gear I'm accelerating not lifting oh wow yeah but does it always do that sound it did only sputters if you have the clutch in a little bit longer and I found that if you slam the clutch and the gas and hold them both and it'll just stay there and keep popping okay let's try that again this is really difficult to the brain because you're so used to so accelerating not lifting not lifting once then off the accelerator okay that is amazing it's almost a bit like PDK in the sense it's like the best yellow exactly that is the best word I get this question asked all the time from people around the world they write me say look I want to buy the GT Porsche or whatever should I buy PDK on my new and I honestly say man you no brainer no-brainer buying a man who don't even think about it straight mmm-hmm the only reason you were buying a PDK is the why of course if you really don't like my new it that's what's the final I think it's it's a personal thing and I each to their own but PDK if your goal was track times then yeah of course the PDK is going to be a bit faster but I think no one really buys these four track times because they're very very small percent you buy for enjoyment and yeah with no lift system you've got the rev-match there's no brainer manual I love it give us it yeah sometimes this little like rev limiter noise yep yeah super cool what I mean I'm childish so I would probably just do the whole do a little it's the like this pop sound that it makes in-between it some or all these little details add up to giving the sensation that you get from this I've been hitting on K yeah just into a corner just enough space I'd hit the 9k once thanks Don of course second best the weights were bouncing off the walls not sorry if you heard a bit of downshift enough before for me definitely not the best a little bit bumpy okay the road is coming to an end now I say we go get some coffee continuing on with today's video we've just arrived somewhere in Malibu to get a coffee up here yeah parently this area here is known for meeting up if you're a petrol head on a Sunday so I just wanted to show you a few highlights from this car park first of all look at this this gt2 RS in a metallic purple with yellow details never ever seen one like this before how incredible is this yellow and purple together is definitely a classic color with the Vice sack back edge for the carbon everywhere yellow details going up over the roof as well and on the wing how crazy is that and we've got a nice little line up pickle at the 911 Turbo S and got a McLaren some 20s parked up next to it so yeah this is a just a few of the highlights from the car park and what I'm gonna do now walk you guys up over here because there is some more very nice things to look at Porsches mainly and I think that's what most of you want to see today so actually this is the spot where we came to get a coffee this famous it's called the Malibu kitchen so a couple of super nice Porsches lined up here bikes plenty of bikes here as well this thing looking awesome loved the roof rack on it as well and of course this classic Land Rover how cool is that cool factor on this is massive but some real American things which is yeah for me super interesting seeing what we can do no walk across the car park how crazy is this car park check this out got an RS here looking incredible speedster 1600 look at that Wow Wow Wow Porsche Porsche centre around here caress in yellow it's nice little modifications on it I really really really liked this location\n"
