Nissan GT-R MY2017 _ First Drive _ Autocar

The biggest facelift that the current Nissan GT-R has had getting on for nine years on sale so extra turbo boost gives the car an extra 20 horsepower there's an improved gearbox and updated underbody and suspension and a much refined interior the interesting thing is that there are no official performance figures on the car Nissan has entered into a rather odd gentlemen's agreement with its fellow Japanese manufacturers which prevents it from making official north to 60 miles an hour acceleration climbs on a performance car which seems a bit of an oversight with the GTR so for the last car they were figures bad habit about which definitely raised an eyebrow - people talk about 2.8 seconds - 62 miles an hour I've never seen an ascent GTR go under 3.2 or 3.3 seconds to 60 miles an hour or stop there for a moment and let you in on the awful truth not that it's particularly awful yesterday on the on the back straight at Spa where we were given the opportunity to test this car in what was a pretty epic few hours I attached this satellite data logger other brands are available I'm sure and I produced the following numbers now unfortunately the figures on my phone don't show up very well on camera but what the data says is three point three seconds to 60 miles an hour and seven point six seconds to 100 which is pretty fast isn't it but is it fast enough this car can be considered a giant killer anymore in the sense that it once was I'm not sure it is it a VR 8 and Porsche 911 turbos and McLaren Ferraris of this world are now shows faster than that they're all three second caster 60 they're all sub seven second car still 100 so I try and give you an idea of exactly how fast this GTR feels on the road we're on the D restricted stretch of German Autobahn now those of you with stopwatches you want timeless okay now 69 so you can tell it doesn't much about this coloring it is fast with a capital S my question is whether it works as fast today relative to a supercar set as it was seven or eight years ago harmony ladies reputation back then you knew you could buy a GTR and the link would be fast enough to outpace stuff that cost twice as much for aria 4:30 when the ETI are dough is almost almost anything now of course we've got a Ferrari 488 GTB that is three seconds flat for sixty miles an hour and goes into six seconds 200 that's faster to a hundred miles I'm a foreign export and in that context I don't think the GTR can be considered the same sort of giant killer that it once was it's ridiculous thing to suggest because you've just seen by your own eyes how fast his car is unless I think that's what I'm suggesting the Giants have up their game of it and that's bad useful listen this thing of course is still just about the fastest car spend 80 thousand pounds on and that's the point really it's it's a lot faster than a turbocharged 911 Carrera it's faster than an AMG GT which is another 20 or 30 grand on the top and you know what it's actually more ground before repealing thing to me that it ever was you know eight years ago the car was up against naturally and to break supercars that had quite a lot more character about them whereas now everything coming for the turbocharger and this thing has developed this old-school character which is quite appealing so you might buy one whether you want the fastest car that your money can buy you or not really by the way I think you probably care a faster GTR rates Vanessa I want to watch a video outlining the full details of the 2017 model year GTR click on the video on the top of the screen
